Features to know about

Struggling Through Deep Snow and Ice: Grooved Square Links Bite In

These chains are built for traction when conditions get rough. The grooved square links cut into deep snow, mud, and ice better than standard square or round links, giving you the steady grip you need to climb or descend slippery grades. The ladder pattern keeps you moving forward, making them a dependable choice for heavy snow zones and icy back roads.

Chains That Stay Put on Rough Terrain: No Levers or Cams to Come Loose

When you’re backing up or crawling through uneven ground, the last thing you want is a chain working itself loose. This setup uses a simple manual tension system without levers or cams, so there’s nothing to pop free while you’re driving. The chains stay taut even through ruts and turns, and if you want them extra snug, rubber adjusters (sold separately) can take up any slack.

Final step of Pewag tire chain installation showing rubber adjusters attached to keep chains tight on tire

Tired of Chains Wearing Out Too Fast: Reversible Design Extends Life

These chains are made to last longer than typical options. Each link is reversible, so when one side starts to show wear, just flip them over and keep going. That means more driving seasons out of the same set. After each use, dry them before storage to make sure they’re ready for the next storm.

Built to Handle Heavy Use: Nickel Manganese Alloy Steel Construction

The nickel manganese alloy steel gives these chains strength and toughness well beyond standard carbon steel. They’re case hardened for extra durability and corrosion resistance, so they can take the pounding from gravel, ice, and salt without giving up. Season after season, the hard outer layer resists wear while the core takes the stress.

Ready for Wide Tires in All Conditions: Fits 15"–22" Sizes

These are designed specifically for wide-base tires, giving you solid coverage where you need it most. Whether you’re running smaller or larger wide tires, they’ll fit within the 15" to 22" range and keep you moving through snow, ice, or mud when traction matters most. Each set includes two chains and carries a 90-day warranty for peace of mind.

Step 2 of Pewag tire chain installation showing chains draped evenly over tire with prongs facing away from sidewall

Note

To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

very sturdy chains and fast delivery!

by:

Have purchased this item before, very satisfied. fast delivery, packaged well arrived when stated and in good order. Would order again.

by:

Heavy duty and fit was good on my Tundra. Easy to put on by laying middle over top of the tire and attaching link on bottom.

by:

I have tested these in my driveway they fit excellently they lock solidly onto the tire and each other with the additional tensioner there's no way they could come off I have not used these on the snow yet as I bought them for a trip across the country during February I have not encountered the chance to use them and I hope I don't lol they are real quality product. I cannot speak to the durability as I have not been able to use them yet

by:

These are the best chains you can buy. Easy to install, durable and have amazing traction into any surface. This is my second pair so I can run on all 4 tires for deep snow and ice. Make sure you have proper clearance

by:

Very sturdy construction, build quality is excellent. better than the product was the service provided by etrailer, i was in contact with Carol C. who kept me informed of the status of my order and also followed up after delivery of the chains

by:

I got these chains for my 3500 Ram with 10 ply E rated Hankook I-Pike winter tires size 245-75-17. I had first ordered PWE3210S that the manufacturer said would fit, but the chains were a few inches too short. Vanessa at E-trailer worked with me and she was in contact with Pewag numerous times to ensure a proper fit on the second set of chains and they fit perfectly. I really cant believe how good of customer service these folks at E-trailer provide, outstanding!!

by:

I am pleased with these tire chains. There are easy to hook up and tighten down well. I have yet to break a link. They are not any more noisy than any other chain. When breaking they do not tend to slide. When using the chain adjusters, there is no banging of excess chain on the vehicle. shipping was fast and well packed. Would purchase again. Highly recommend the chain adjusters.

by:

Chris at etrailer was fantastic in helping to identify and order the best tire chains for my needs. Shipping was extremely fast, and will certainly return for any future needs!

by:

Chains work great on snow and ice in harsh Montana winters. Easy to install, but I wish they came with a retention system for the excess links at the connection points. I just use a small bungee to secure them and prevent them from hitting brake lines and wheel liners. Used with heavy duty rubber spider tensioner.

by:

Great product. Great service.

by:

Fit was great. Extra chain was easy to secure.

by:

Pewag always has a great product and these are no exception. Perfect fit on my CAT 262 skid steer. Etrailer had them delivered in just a couple days even though we're in the remote Sierra Nevada's. Great experience.

by:

Solid heavy duty chains!

by:

First set of chains broke in a month. Replaced under warranty. Second set of chains broke in a couple months. Didn't bother to replace them because I feel bad about doing it twice

by:

Nice set of heavy duty chains for my 3500 HD. They fit well on a 275/70/R18 BFG KO2. 2nd link in back side of tire and 2nd link on the outside of the tire.

by:

I’ve used them probably 4-5 times in a year. Got me through 18” of wet spring snow in my truck and took a beating, held up great. I love the turnbuckle mechanism.

by:

Estimated ship time from eTrailer was inaccurate since the product turned out not to be in stock; had to wait an additional week before delivery.

However the chains did fit my 2015 RAM 2500 Power Wagon with stock tires (Duratrac 285/70-17) and wheels. The rear left parking brake cable is VERY close (~1/2 inch) from the chain, so I had to use a zip tie to keep the extra links from slapping against the cable. There was plenty of clearance up front and on the rear right. Glacier rubber adjusters (PW99) are necessary to remove chain slack.

by:

I had to use both sets of chains to leave from my elk hunting camp in CO. Lots of snow and mud. Chains were fairly easy easy to put on and take off and worked flawlessly. The square links really bit into the ice, no slippage involved. I work in remote areas with heavy equipment and bad roads and everyone uses Pewag chains and loves them. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

These arrived, and I put them on in the garage to test fit, and they appear to be perfect. I had to buy two sets, to cover front and rear tires. My tires are 33x12.50x15, and at some point I plan to move up to 35x12.50x15 and understand these will cover those tires too.
So I expect to be covered in extreme ice conditions.
Very easy to install at home in the garage. I did also purchase the orange chain tensioner's, and they work nicely too. But I really may not need them, as I was able to get these very snug by using 3rd and 4th tightening links. I watched the video that explains how to stack the loose links so they don't flop around too much.
etrailer was a pleasure to work with, products arrived quickly.

  • What is the Difference Between Twist-Link Snow Chains and Square-Link Snow Chains
For your 2016 RAM 2500 with tires sized 275/70-18 you can use the Titan Chain # TC3229CAM with twisted links and ladder design. The Twist-Link Snow Tire Chains are better for snow purposes than ice. Square-Link Chains like part # TC3229S work better on ice than the twist-link chains. The Square-Links will work just as well in the snow too. Since they are both constructed of low-carbon steel, they will have about the same durability. If you are going to be using chains for a snow and...
