Question:
I am looking for chains for my F250 diesel with Nitto Ridge Grapplers LT275/70R18. I am looking for a set mostly for offroad use when I get myself in a little too deep in the mountain roads of MT mostly dirt/rock roads covered with snow or even when the mud gets too deep on washed out roads. It is possible Id use them on road, but most of the time the roads are kept fairly clear up here. Do you have a particular chain recommendation? Ive read that if I dont get something fairly heavy duty, the chains tend to break. Ive also seen differing opinions on whether to equip them on the front or rear tires of my truck. Ill also want to pick up a set of tensioners for them, like the bungee design to keep them tight. Being originally from the south, this will be my first set of chains so a little overwhelmed with all the options.

For your tire size of LT275/70R18 you'll want an off-road style chain like the Pewag All Square Snow Tire Chains for Wide-Base Tires # PWE3229S. The large square links of this is going to give you the traction you'll need for deep mud/snow and if needed they could be used on roads covered in snow as well. These are also made of a material that makes them last longer than most chains and they can be reversed to get even more life out of them. I attached an install video for these for you to check out as well. For your application I'd recommend running the chains on all 4 wheels but if nothing else the main drive axle which would be the rear.
For tensioners you'd want the # PW105 you mentioned as well.
