Recommended Tire Chains for 2008 Toyota Tundra

I have some options for both of the tire sizes that you are asking about. Keep in mind that you need to consult your owner's manual to make sure that you can install tire chains with the size tire that you will be purchasing.

What I recommend is the Titan Snow Tire Chains # TC2536 because they will actually fit both the 295/70R17 and the 305/65R17 tire sizes. Titan makes these square link chains that feature a diamond pattern as opposed to a more traditional style ladder pattern. The diamond pattern will give you more coverage on the ground and is used more for standard driving, where the ladder chains are better when hauling heavy loads. These chains are the easiest to install because they just drape over the tire and you tighten the tensioners.

If you would like a bit heavier duty chain more suited to towing and on or off road use, I have two great options for you.

If you decide to go with the 295/70R17 size tires, I recommend using the Pewag All Square Snow Tire Chains # PWE3229S. These are ladder-style tire chains that don't use cams to lock them on the tire, but the Rubber Tire Chain Adjusters # TCOA3 are recommended to ensure that they stay nice and tight on the tire. These chains are reversible, so once one side starts to show some wear-and-tear, you can turn them over to use the other side as well. These chains are listed for both on and off road use.

If you decide to go with the 305/65R17 tire size, then I recommend going with the Pewag All Square Snow Tire Chains with Cam Tighteners # PWE3231SC. These chains are ladder-style as well, just like the other chains they have square chains which work better on ice than other style chains. The cams on these chains are very reliable and they shouldn't come unlocked when you are using them. If this is still a concern, Glacier Chains makes Rubber Arm Adjusters # PW105 that work on a wide variety of tires that will help to keep these chains tight against your tire. If you'd like to go with a on and off road chain, the # PWE3231SC doesn't have cams and will work for on and off road purposes.

All three of these tire chains have a manganese nickel alloy construction which is very strong and rust resistant.
