Wiring a trailer doesn’t have to mean cutting into factory wires. This Curt T-Connector plugs directly into the vehicle’s tail light circuits so you can add a 4-flat trailer connector without any splicing. Everything fits behind the tail lights for a clean, factory-style install that’s quick to finish.
Some trailers can overload weak wiring, but this harness uses a powered converter that can handle up to 7.5 amps per circuit. The converter draws power directly from the vehicle battery through its dedicated 12-volt lead, protecting the vehicle’s wiring while delivering steady current to the trailer lights.
The power wire connects to the main battery under the hood—the one charged by the alternator—so the system runs safely without affecting other vehicle systems. The converter only sends power when trailer circuits are active, so it won’t drain the battery when nothing is plugged in.
You can route the black power wire several ways depending on what works best for your setup. Many installers choose to run it through the interior for a cleaner path from the trunk area to the engine bay. The harness design keeps things straightforward no matter which route you take.
The 4-pole flat connector delivers running, turn, and brake signals—everything most small and mid-size trailers need to stay legal and visible on the road. It’s a standard plug type that works with common trailer wiring setups right out of the box.

Wiring was an easy install on my Canadian model Malibu LT.
worked exactly as advertised plug-n-play have had no issues since purchase over a year ago.
Made installation easy!
Fits my Malibu like it should, routing wire to front battery can be tough if you don't have way to get car up properly to get underneath.
As described, fast shipping. Will buy from again!
Good product. Fast shipping. Easy to install.
Super easy installation. Plug and play practically. Definitely recommend this kit.
An easy install because the product was ideal for my Malibu. Basically just plug and play! I was impressed with the heavy insulated wire to run under the car up to the battery. My Malibu ICO had panels under the car that it was easy to run the wire under and hide it from view or any chance of getting snagged. I give this product the highest recommendation.
Easy to install. Wish there was a way to hook up the power supply through the rear battery, but other then that I haven’t had a single issue with it.
Good harness, cheap connectors. 3 out of 3 failed to vrimp properly, and they are NOT heat shrink. Buy your own connectors and it works well.
I purchased a trailer hitch for my 2013 Malibu and will be installing it soon.
Installation for past purchases for my Buick and Escort always went smooth.
Videos on the website are a nice way to see an install.
Great product!
It arrived in excellent condition and following the directions, it was an easy 45 minute installation. Only problem I saw was the factory-welded nuts on the exhaust hangars broke free when the bolts were tightened to the recommended torque value.
Love this product and the installation process!
Installation was simple and easy. works great with my new trailer.

No problem with the system since installation
Very nice people I received a wiring harness for my vehicle that was not the right one and they made sure that it was taken care of and sent me a replacement harness. I installed it right away and am very satisfied. Thank you all at etrailer.
I ordered a T-connector wiring harness to wire car to utility trailer. It matched perfectly to my car and instructions were clear and easy to follow.
Hitch installation was slightly different than video. My Malibu LT has dual exhaust so minor changes needed to be made for the install. Nothing difficult, just plain common sense, what you do on the left side you need to repeat on the right.
I would recommend this hitch but it does sit a little lower than I expected.
I found the instruction clear and the hitch was an easy install for me. All the parts were there and it was very easy to install once I had the rear of the car up on my ramps. I found the product to be made of heavy duty components. The trailer wiring harness was an easy install too with clear instructions every step of the way. I am very impressed with these products.
The trailer hitch and wiring harness arrived quickly and both items installed easily. Ordering with etrailer was easy.
The only possible issue if that the forward bracket near the exhaust does not leave enough room for clearance with the exhaust pipe that hangs a little lower (100,000 miles one 6 year old car) it doesn't hit the exhaust, but it is very close. I may need to purchase new exhaust hangers to see if the exhaust pipe will sit up a little bit closer to the under body of the vehicle.
I can always count on excellent customer service when I order from etrailer.
the wiring product is good but running the wire from the battery to the back of the car difficult there should be an easier way of routing that one wire, and I have had to splice that wire twice and have since replaced it once hopefully I will not have to replace it again

This harness was purchased for a 2015 Chevy Malibu LS. Instructions were easy to follow, but I changed one step: the 12V power wire was connected to the small battery located in the trunk. The reasoning was as follows: the trunk-mounted battery gets charged while the engine is running; this car has no hybrid functions; it was way easier to connect there than running the power wire all the way to the front of the car. The inline fuse was located just behind the battery access cover for ease of, well, access. Once the installation was complete, the circuits were tested good.
The hitch is of high quality. It was delivered in just a few days. I'm all thumbs so had my mechanic install the hitch & wiring. It took 3 hours for the complete installation on my 2013 Malibu. Most time was spent running a wire for the harness to the engine compartment. Hitch is good design but could be an inch higher to the bumper at the draw bar. Use is for a bike rack and occasionally a small utility trailer. I recommend this hitch.
I purchased a trailer hitch and trailer wiring harness for my 2013 Chevy Malibu. The hitch was very easy to install on did not take long. The wiring harness was a plug and play variety for it was pretty easy as well. The only difficulty came in running the power cable under the car to the battery up front. Overall I am very well pleased with the products. The instructions that came with it were ok, but the online videos were great.
Very simple, though, had a bit of problem with me FITTING under the car, the Malibu sits kinda low, but pulled left side of car on the curb, and gave me enough room to get to everything. The wiring for the lights was the easiest but the hooking the hot wire to the battery was hardest, then running the line to the trunk, not got that one done... a little research on the hook ups might be very helpful. even after a trip to the dealership to she what size nuts/threads on the batter proved to be no use! I wound up using a hookup already in use, and placing the connector under that.

used to pull my boat trailer, and works well
Received this product along with a hitch for my 2014 Chevy Malibu. After installing the hitch, I continued on with the wiring. Inventoried the package and watched the video for installing the harness. Tying into the tail lights was the easy part. The 12v power wire is more difficult without a lift. I jacked up the right side of the vehicle to run the wire forward. I fed the 12v power wire out from the trunk through the right plug in the spare tire well. If I followed the suggested plug in the video, there would not have been enough wire to reach the battery. I ended up with only 16" extra. Connection to the battery was no problem . The trailer plug tested as it should. About 2-1/2 hrs from start to all cleaned up. My trailer is used for hauling a small riding mower.

I use a small trailer quite often with my Malibu. There has been no issues with the wiring kit or the hitch. I expect it will last the life of the vehicle. Thanks for the followup email.
