Features to know about

Handles Higher Voltage Arrays Without Rework

victron smartsolar

Array expansion often stalls when voltage limits get too tight, especially with series wiring. This controller accepts up to 250V PV open circuit input, giving you room to run longer series strings without immediately hitting a ceiling. That headroom keeps expansion options open and reduces the chance of redesigning your array just to stay within limits.

Pulls More Energy Out of Mixed Light Conditions

Shading and changing light can drag production down when a controller reacts too slowly or locks onto the wrong point. This unit uses ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking with an advanced Maximum Power Point Detection algorithm that locks onto the optimal power point when multiple MPPs are present due to partial shading. You get steadier charging instead of watching output fall off when roof conditions are less than perfect.

Adapts to Battery Changes Without Replacement

Switching battery types can force a controller swap if charge profiles do not match. This unit supports lithium, AGM, gel, and flooded batteries with automatic voltage selection and eight pre programmed charge profiles. You can reconfigure charging behavior as your battery setup changes without replacing the controller or compromising battery health.

Gives You Real System Visibility Without Opening Panels

Limited feedback makes it hard to tell if charging is normal or if settings need attention. Built-in Bluetooth Smart supports wireless setup, monitoring, updates, and charging synchronization, and VE.Direct and VE.Can ports support wired connection to GX devices, computers, and remote management systems. You can check performance, change settings, and tie the controller into a larger monitored setup without digging back into the install.

Runs Efficiently Without Fan Noise

Fan-cooled electronics add moving parts, extra noise, and another failure point in hard-use installs. This controller uses natural cooling with no fan and reaches 99 percent maximum efficiency. It runs with less wasted energy and without fan noise kicking on during higher-output charging.

Video Transcript for Review of Victron Solar Charge Controllers - SmartSolar MPPT Solar Charge Controller - VN66ZR

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Victron Smart Solar MPPT solar charge controller. Now, this is basically the brains that sits between your solar panels and your batteries, and this is going to make sure that your batteries get charged as efficiently and safely as possible. Now, what makes this so special is the MPP technology. So instead of just passing power through, this is going to constantly adjust to changing sunlight conditions, such as clouds, morning versus afternoon sun, panel temperatures, et cetera.

This is gonna help squeeze out the maximum possible energy from your solar panels. Now, compared to the less expensive controllers, if I could put it that way, this one's going to give you more usable power every day compared to those less expensive ones, especially in those less-than-perfect conditions. Now, the 250/60 part here, this tells you two important things. This is gonna be able to handle very high voltage from your solar arrays, up to about 250 volts from the panels. And this is gonna be able to charge your batteries at up to 60 amps, which makes this a good fit for medium-to-larger systems.

This is going to work with your 12, 24 or 48-volt battery banks. So this is gonna be flexible whether you're running an RV, a boat, an off-grid cabin, or a home backup system. This also has smart monitoring built in. You're gonna be able to connect to it via Bluetooth using Victron's free app to see real-time solar production, battery status and charging history. And this also supports VE.Can networking, which is gonna be great if you're building a more advanced Victron system with multiple components that talk to each other.

So in regards to the size, lemme see if I can give you some measurements here. Looking at the overall height overall, we're sitting at roughly a little over seven inches tall. And then looking at the, what I'm calling the width here, looks like we're sitting pretty close to about nine and 13/16 inches wide. And the depth, right at about 3 3/4 inches deep. So hopefully that gives you a good idea of the size and what to expect.

So this is gonna be efficient, this is gonna be reliable. This is designed for serious solar setups, not just those tiny panels. This is gonna give you clear visibility and control over how your system is performing. So if you're wanting to invest in a solid solar setup and you want something that's gonna grow with your system, rather than just replacing like a cheaper controller later, this is gonna be exactly the kind of controller that should be heavily in your consideration. Now, if you happen to have any other questions, whether it's about this or anything that we have here at etrailer, don't hesitate to reach out. We wanna make sure that you're getting exactly what you need. Well, again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
