Highlights

  • Higher Output Without System Redesign: 50 amp charging supports larger arrays without upgrading wiring.
  • Stay Within Safe Voltage Limits: 100V PV open-circuit ceiling prevents overvoltage damage in series setups.
  • Better Energy Harvest in Changing Light: Ultra-fast MPPT improves output in clouds and partial shade.
  • Flexible Battery Charging Profiles: 8 preprogrammed profiles plus full programmability support battery changes.
  • Remote Monitoring with System Integration: Works with GX devices and VRM for system-wide visibility.
  • Silent Cooling with Fewer Failure Points: Fanless design reduces noise and dust-related maintenance issues.

Features to know about

Increase Charging Output Without Redesign

When your system needs more charging capacity but you don't want to rework wiring or panel layout, output becomes the limiting factor. This controller delivers 50 amps of charge current with MPPT conversion, letting you support larger arrays within existing system layouts. You get higher usable charging output without rebuilding your setup.

Stay Within Safe Voltage Limits When Expanding

Adding panels or switching to series wiring can push systems past safe voltage limits. The 100V maximum PV open-circuit voltage sets a clear ceiling for array design, helping you avoid overvoltage damage when expanding. It keeps your system operating within defined limits instead of risking failure from miscalculation.

Improve Energy Harvest in Changing Conditions

In real installs, sunlight is rarely consistent, and basic controllers miss available power. Ultra-fast MPPT tracking and advanced detection maintain output during cloud cover and partial shading. The controller continues tracking the optimal power point so your batteries charge more consistently throughout the day.

Adapt Charging to Different Battery Types

Switching battery chemistry or dialing in charging behavior can create compatibility issues with fixed-profile controllers. This unit includes 8 preprogrammed charge profiles and fully programmable charge settings to match lithium, AGM, gel, or flooded batteries. You can adjust charging behavior without replacing the controller during upgrades.

Monitor and Control Through External Systems

When the controller is mounted out of sight, lack of visibility makes troubleshooting difficult. VE.Direct connectivity supports monitoring through a Bluetooth Smart dongle and integration with GX devices and the VRM portal. You can view system performance and make adjustments without accessing the unit directly.

Video Transcript for Review of Victron Solar Charge Controllers - MPPT - VN39ZR

Hi, everyone, Steven here with etrailer. Today, we're taking a look at the Victron BlueSolar MPPT 100-50 Solar Charge Controller. Folks, this controller uses ultra-fast maximum power point tracking, or MPPT, to continuously optimize the power of your solar array produces. So, even as light conditions change, it's gonna pull the most energy possible from those panels. With a 50 amp charging capacity and support up to 100 volts of solar input, this can be a great choice for medium to large 12-volt or 24-volt systems, supporting up to roughly 700 watts on 12 volts and about 1,400 watts on 24-volt arrays. The BlueSolar automatically detects your system voltage, and then it's gonna use a multi-stage adaptive charging algorithm to safely and efficiently charge those batteries, helping protect your battery life.

So whether you're using a lead acid, AGM, gel, or lithium chemistries, this is a great option for you. And it has built-in protections to guard against reverse polarity, short circuits, high temperatures, while being compact, rugged. It's gonna be suitable for RVs, marine systems, cabins, off-grid systems, those kind of things. And you'll find a VE direct port for optional monitoring or Bluetooth connectivity as well with a dongle. And you can use the VictronConnect App free, so you can take and look and track performance, tweak settings right from your phone.

I highly recommend you check that app. Checked it out earlier, it has a lot of great features, and it really is a great app to be able to go in there, monitor things, and do some quick changes. So again, if you're looking for an efficient, intelligent solar charger, this may be a great option for you. And before we close, it does measure about 7 5/16 inches long overall, about 2 13/16 inches tall, and about 5 1/8 inches deep. (controller clattering) As always, folks, if you have any more questions about this or any of the products we carry, make sure to reach out to us at etrailer.

We're more than happy to assist you and answer any questions we can. I'm Steven, as always, thanks for watching. Have a great day.
