Video Transcript for Timbren Manufacturer Spotlight - Suspension Enhancement

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we've got John with us from Timbren. He's gonna tell us a little bit more about what separates Timbren from the competitors. I appreciate it, I'm glad to be here. Timbren is a suspension specialist. We're based in Whitby, Ontario, so we are a true manufacturer in Canada and we offer a wide range of suspension products from light duty, from commercial all the way up to Overlander, Sprinter applications and trailers.

Now we've talked about a few of the options you guys have and we have plenty of options on our website. Right. We've got the SES kits. We've got the axle-less suspension. Right.

We've got your new coil inserts that just came out recently. But what would you say is your bread-and-butter at Timbren Yeah, no, our SES, suspension enhancement system, is definitely our bread-and-butter. Came out in 2011, won a SEMA New Product Award for best truck suspension. And really, the evolution you just mentioned here, you know, starting in 1968 all the way through now, 2024. But the SES kits are really the core of who we are.

And if you, if you would say at, in the level of stiffness on the market, what would you, would you put yourself in more in a heavy duty side for the SES kits or is it more of a lighter duty Yeah, great question. Lighter duty, we certainly can have a product for commercial and heavy duty, but in '82 when SES was introduced, it was purposely introduced for that, that light duty market. So we start with 1500 and again, go all the way up, but by far really popular with that 1500, 2500 crowd. That kinda leads me into my next question. So we talked about, your specialty is kind of in the lighter duty, but do you have an option for the heavier duty for your sprinter vans and maybe for your truck bed campers Yeah, absolutely.

We do have SES kits for truck beds, truck campers with a higher center of gravity. That creates a new kind of set of problems with the sway side to side. So we have severe duty kits for those. And it uses a single convoluted AON versus a double convoluted to tackle that problem of side to side. And the same thing with the sprinter van. It uses a rectangular shape Aon, but it's there to do the same deal that side to side sway because they're so top heavy, it'll eliminate that. Okay. And then we've had an instance here at etrailer that we had a van that was very, very heavy on the one side. Is there anything that you guys can do personally to help, I would say, I guess customize that kit for that particular user Yeah, by all means we would want that individual to contact us. We would ask a couple questions, see where that weight is distributed and we can actually produce an AON with either a stiffer hardness or durometer or a softer durometer and that will help level it out. So yes, we can take care of that for 'em. And I think that'll really, really help people to get their rigs dialed in because who knows what they're putting in the campers afterwards, after they buy 'em. They come from the manufacturer already heavy on that side and they're trying to load stuff on the other side to try to even it out. But knowing that there's a solution that you can customize for your rig no matter what the weight is on either side is really, really cool. Yeah, absolutely. We're happy to take care of 'em and again, there's no charge for that. Awesome. Now to kind of wrap things up, what sets Timbren apart from a lot of other manufacturers out there Well, I think there's a couple things. We're a family run company and our longevity, you can't deny, 1968 to 2024 and our warranty, we have a lifetime warranty regardless of how old it is. We will take care of it, replace it, limited lifetime warranty, and the hundred day money back guarantee. Very cool. And that's whether or not you're the first owner Right. And yeah, we're not asking for receipt, who'd you buy it from It'll be taken care of. Just give us a ring and we'll take care of it for you. Very cool. Well thank you again for meeting with us. Appreciate it. It was a pleasure to work with you. Thank you.

Easy installation except the passenger side is a little harder.

by:

This product was delivered quickly and efficiently. The quality of the product is excellent and look forward to seeing how they work when we are towing our trailer.

by:

Really helped with the support of my trailer.. excellent product

by:

Received the product promptly. Exactly what I needed .... decided on this instead of air bags since I only tow a boat.

by:

super easy to install. I only used the jack to hold the u-bolts in place. Can't wait to put them to use!

by:

Great communication and great delivery time. Just finished placing them on my truck. Easy 45min work. Thanks etrailer.

by:

As advertised the product was easy to put in on my 2019 ram crewcab tradesman 4x4 pickup. Can't wait to try them out when i use my 20' travel trailer.

by:

Made a big difference in how the vehicle tows when we have the camper hooked.

by:

AS advertised, used a wooden block and the vehicles weight to press in. A small amount of liquid dish soap also helps . Much stiffer than the original, will find out in two weeks when traveling west with the trailer attached. A+ so far.

by:

Works great. Truck rides as normal without load. Load it up and they engage and the truck rides level.

by:

Great product and great customer service

by:

Don't see $500 worth of parts. Not even close. 2 rubber bump spots and a bracket.

by:

Easy installation. However, product has not been tested in a manner appropriate to provide rating.

by:

The install was very straight forward and if one can turn a wrench or follow instructions no problem, Haven't carried a load or towed yet but normal service is as normal.

by:

Great customer service and great price! Jamea answered all my questions and was very helpful!

by:

Made a huge difference - not just in load management when hauling 30 sheets of plywood, but greatly improved the handling & ride in my front-wheel drive work van. I just traded in for a newer model van, so I'm getting the same units again!

by:

Very fast shipping! Great product! Thank you much!!

by:

I bought these for a 2020 Ram 2500 because they had great reviews here and at a lot of other places around the internet. They do not fit correctly. On the passenger side, they are almost touching the frame with no load in the bed or on the hitch. The ride is absolutely terrible, very rough and painful. The ONLY time it's tolerable is with my 3000 pound camper in the bed of the truck. I would have returned these, but I waited a few months to install them, so it was too late by the time I realized how bad they were for my application. If you have a truck that is always loaded with a lot of weight, this would be awesome. Otherwise, spend the extra money and get air bags. I will be installing air bags and throwing these in the trash.

by:

Installed on my 2018 Raptor. Easy install, works great, and no sag pulling my toy hauler.

by:

Strainer/basket is holding up well after one year of use in our RV, no issues.

by:

serve its purpose. just something extra to help with my towing

by:

These look like they will cure the evils of the heavy load God's. Easy to install and they look like they are quite stout. I will find out in a couple of weeks from now.

by:

Great product and great service.

by:

I have not used them yet. I will do that this weekend. But man they were easy to install. The instructions were great and easy to follow. So far so good.

by:

Shipping was so efficient arrived days before estimated. Order was placed and within an hour was shipped!!!

  • Do Timbren Coil Springs For 2022 Toyota RAV4 Have Weight Rating
Hi Sharon, There is not a weight rating for the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # T58GR that fit your 2022 Toyota RAV4, they will be effective regardless of the weight on the springs, as they compress based on the amount of weight you have there. The Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs # AL64VJ have a 1,000 lb weight rating, though that means they can help level your RAV4 with up to 1,000 lbs of weight on the springs. Realistically though, there won't be 1,000 lbs...

  • Rear Suspension Enhancement and Trailer Wiring for 2020 RAV4 LE
Hey James! For a 2020 RAV4 I'm not entirely sure if that is too much or not. Does it feel like your braking is off when you carry everything? Are the headlights tilting up from the rear sag? Are you bottoming out? If any of these things are true then it would be a good idea to add the Timbren SES - Coil Spring Suspension # T58GR for extra support. If you're driving around with the cargo carrier and a fully loaded vehicle every single day then it is probably a good idea regardless. Front...

  • What Will Work with My Toyota Sienna Hybrid Front Wheel Drive to Help the Squat in the Rear?
Hello William, Thanks for writing in, you are correct the Firestone #F4155 is not a good fit for the 2021 to 2024 Sienna Hybrid. The hybrid models have some key differences in the rear suspension area due to battery placement and tighter coil spring spacing. Because of that, air bag kits like the 4155 do not have confirmed fitment, which can lead to interference or installation issues and the possibility of still dealing with rear sag after spending the money. A much better and proven...

  • Rear Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2019 Toyota Sienna
Hey Jesse, yes the Timbren rear suspension kit part # T58GR will be exactly what you are looking for to provide more suspension support for your 2019 Toyota Sienna. This will give the rear suspension more support so that when you hit a bump the suspension won't want to bottom out. How much does the chair weigh you think?

  • Rear Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2023 Toyota Sienna Woodland AWD
Hey Rick, I have a solution for you but the # CSS-1168R are not listed as a fit for the all wheel drive versions of the 2023 Toyota Sienna. That said we have heard from customers with the AWD versions and it did work well so it should work just fine. Instead we have the Timbren kit part # T58GR which does though and is very similar so it would be what you'd want. Are you towing a trailer?

  • Trailer Hitch and Suspension Enhancement for 2026 Toyota Sienna With VelociRAX Vertical Bike Rack
Hey Ben! The Curt does have that restriction on the vertical bike racks so I recommend the TowSmart Trailer Hitch # TS82VR. This has a higher tongue weight capacity and will allow you to carry the VelociRAX. It would be a good idea to add the etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar # e38FV as well to help cut down on any movement from the rack. Also yes, the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # T58GR will help with hauling a 6-bike bike rack. Even with lighter bikes that is a lot of tongue...

  • Will Coil SumoSprings Fit 2025 Toyota Sienna AWD
Hi Thomas; the Coil SumoSprings are pretty universal so they may fit. They're only listed for 2WD because SuperSprings never tested them on AWD models. The fact that the Timbren is listed as a fit for both does imply they will likely work, but I would still measure to be sure. It looks like you decided to go ahead and get the TImbren SES # T58GR instead. These are confirmed to fit AWD models so no measuring will be required. Are you towing with your Sienna or just carrying a lot of...

  • What Would Cause Trailer Sway with Toyota RAV4
Hey Jose, is the trailer sitting level? Is there possibly not enough tongue weight on the trailer relative to the total weight of it? If the tongue weight isn't 10-15 percent of total trailer weight you will get sway. You will also get sway if the nose of the trailer is too high as well. Suspension enhancement would not reduce sway so I would not recommend that.

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2019 Toyota RAV4
Hey HPA, I would go with the Air Lift kit part # AL64VJ that fits your 2019 Toyota RAV4 based on what you described and your needs. This gives you adjustable support that you can tailor as needed so that you get the exact amount of support you need when towing or carrying your cargo carrier.

  • Is the Foot Pedal for the Dometic 300 Toilet a Serviceable Part
Hey Rafael, I checked with Dometic and unfortunately the foot pedal for the Dometic 300 Weekender RV Toilet # DOM64FR is not a serviceable part so It's not going to be available for replacement. You'd instead need to order a whole new toilet if your foot pedal is damaged.

  • Can 2026 Toyota RAV4 Woodland With Tow Package Use Weight Distribution Hitch
Hey Tom, congratulations on the new vehicle and camper! This can get pretty confusing so I'll try to clear things up for you here. What you're hearing about a unibody is typically correct. Most of the time you do not want to use a weight distribution hitch, but it is not an absolute. The bigger issue here is that factory hitch. It is not rated for a WDH so we can go ahead and rule that out as an option. That 2,675 lbs I believe is the dry weight for your A214, so you're going to be even...
