Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident Under Load: Progressive Coil Support

When you’re carrying extra weight or towing, rear-end sag can throw off your balance and steering. The Timbren Suspension Enhancement System - Coil Spring Suspension - Rear Axle adds helper spring inserts that strengthen your existing rear coils. They adjust progressively to the weight of your load—the more you carry, the stiffer they become—keeping your ride level and controlled without harshness.

Smooth Out Rough Roads: Shock-Absorbing Coil Enhancers

Rough pavement or uneven ground doesn’t have to beat up your suspension. These coil enhancers absorb and dissipate shock from bumps and ruts whether the vehicle is loaded or unloaded. The result is a smoother, more stable ride that helps take stress off your factory springs and keeps handling predictable on every trip.

Simple to Install, Built to Last: No Maintenance Required

You don’t need special tools or complicated adjustments to get better support. The Timbren system installs easily between the individual coils of each rear spring and requires no maintenance once in place. It’s designed to work alongside a suspension system that’s already in good condition, with durable construction backed by a lifetime warranty and satisfaction guarantee.

Protect Your Suspension Investment: Extend Coil Spring Life

Helper spring inserts don’t just add support—they protect what’s already there. By sharing the load and absorbing impact before it reaches your factory coils, this system helps extend the life of your rear suspension components. That means less wear over time and a stronger, more dependable setup for hauling or daily driving alike.

Video Transcript for Timbren Manufacturer Spotlight - Suspension Enhancement

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we've got John with us from Timbren. He's gonna tell us a little bit more about what separates Timbren from the competitors. I appreciate it, I'm glad to be here. Timbren is a suspension specialist. We're based in Whitby, Ontario, so we are a true manufacturer in Canada and we offer a wide range of suspension products from light duty, from commercial all the way up to Overlander, Sprinter applications and trailers.

Now we've talked about a few of the options you guys have and we have plenty of options on our website. Right. We've got the SES kits. We've got the axle-less suspension. Right.

We've got your new coil inserts that just came out recently. But what would you say is your bread-and-butter at Timbren Yeah, no, our SES, suspension enhancement system, is definitely our bread-and-butter. Came out in 2011, won a SEMA New Product Award for best truck suspension. And really, the evolution you just mentioned here, you know, starting in 1968 all the way through now, 2024. But the SES kits are really the core of who we are.

And if you, if you would say at, in the level of stiffness on the market, what would you, would you put yourself in more in a heavy duty side for the SES kits or is it more of a lighter duty Yeah, great question. Lighter duty, we certainly can have a product for commercial and heavy duty, but in '82 when SES was introduced, it was purposely introduced for that, that light duty market. So we start with 1500 and again, go all the way up, but by far really popular with that 1500, 2500 crowd. That kinda leads me into my next question. So we talked about, your specialty is kind of in the lighter duty, but do you have an option for the heavier duty for your sprinter vans and maybe for your truck bed campers Yeah, absolutely.

We do have SES kits for truck beds, truck campers with a higher center of gravity. That creates a new kind of set of problems with the sway side to side. So we have severe duty kits for those. And it uses a single convoluted AON versus a double convoluted to tackle that problem of side to side. And the same thing with the sprinter van. It uses a rectangular shape Aon, but it's there to do the same deal that side to side sway because they're so top heavy, it'll eliminate that. Okay. And then we've had an instance here at etrailer that we had a van that was very, very heavy on the one side. Is there anything that you guys can do personally to help, I would say, I guess customize that kit for that particular user Yeah, by all means we would want that individual to contact us. We would ask a couple questions, see where that weight is distributed and we can actually produce an AON with either a stiffer hardness or durometer or a softer durometer and that will help level it out. So yes, we can take care of that for 'em. And I think that'll really, really help people to get their rigs dialed in because who knows what they're putting in the campers afterwards, after they buy 'em. They come from the manufacturer already heavy on that side and they're trying to load stuff on the other side to try to even it out. But knowing that there's a solution that you can customize for your rig no matter what the weight is on either side is really, really cool. Yeah, absolutely. We're happy to take care of 'em and again, there's no charge for that. Awesome. Now to kind of wrap things up, what sets Timbren apart from a lot of other manufacturers out there Well, I think there's a couple things. We're a family run company and our longevity, you can't deny, 1968 to 2024 and our warranty, we have a lifetime warranty regardless of how old it is. We will take care of it, replace it, limited lifetime warranty, and the hundred day money back guarantee. Very cool. And that's whether or not you're the first owner Right. And yeah, we're not asking for receipt, who'd you buy it from It'll be taken care of. Just give us a ring and we'll take care of it for you. Very cool. Well thank you again for meeting with us. Appreciate it. It was a pleasure to work with you. Thank you.

by:

Added these to my F250 Super Duty. I carry a golf cart on a Diamond back bed cover. Can be a little top heavy. Perfect addition to my suspension- greatly reduced the sway.

by:

Easy to install using basic hand tools, and stopped the "sag" when I hook up my Casita travel trailer

by:

Helps prevent about 1/2" of sag with my 175lb-tongue weight trailer and easy to install.

by:

Easy install took about 20 minutes on my 2017 Ram 3500 SRW. Had about 1/2 inch clearance as recommended. Loaded up my 5th wheel (2350 hitch weight) and about 200 lbs of gear in the bed. Just got back from a 800 mile camping trip through mountains of TN. You can really feel the difference around those sharp corners and uneven surfaces. The truck felt firm and controlled not hard and jarring as some have mentioned. Going over those overpasses with the wonderfully smooth (Not) joists was greatly improved. The truck would squat and rebound again, with a firm controlled response. Driving without a load felt the same as before without them. I would highly recommend these! Ordering from etrailer continues to be my go to option!

by:

Great product. The ride and body roll at the rear axle are notceably improved (1989 Ford E350 Class C RV , 27 ft). I give it 4 stars because the installation was slightly complicated due to the rear brake lines needing to be slightly bent to provide clearance for the U bolts supplied in the kit. Great product and wish it came in a 5000 lb version.

by:

2,000 miles in on a trip from the east coast to the Canadian Rockies these work great while loaded and towing. Close to zero bounce while towing, I love them. Unloaded, however, the ride in my 2026 Tundra has gone south. There is a noticeable, abrupt stop of the units hitting the axle when going over any kind of bump. When I get home and back to regular driving, I may just take them off, its that bad.

by:

I've had these on our tow rig for a year now and I added buy them again today if I needed them.these have worked much better than airbags for our coil spring rear suspension to handle the tongue weight of our trailer. The SUV sits level when the trailer is on and it handles bumps and sway better than the airbags did providing much more comfort to us in the vehicle. Unloaded, we don't really notice they are there, unless, we have all the kids and some friends loaded up and you will fell them work when going over bumps.i do all my maintenance on the vehicle's and inspect these regularly and I cant see any wear so far even though we've gone on 6 trips with our trailer with about 5000 miles doing so.
I cant say these are the best for every truck or SUV, but for ours it is the best and I definitely would recommend to others.

by:

Order came fast and right. E-Trailer gets it the first time !!
Installed fit perfect

by:

Well they are exactly what I thought it would be. Hard for me to say it's what I needed yet.
I installed them on a homemade trailer from a salvaged 2001 base model tacoma. Once I get finished building it out and have some weight in it I'll have a better idea. But from what I've seen so far on a couple test drives they should come into effect when needed.
For reference I building an Tacoma based trailer with an ARE Contractor topper with a Naturnest roof top tent on the very top. So to counter and sway these should be very helpful. At least I hope so. I'm not an engineer but I did stay at an Holliday Inn once.

by:

The Timbren SES is a simple solution for rear squat when towing. When hitched to my 30' Airstream Globetrotter (8800 GVWR) with a tongue weight around 1200 lbs, my Silverado 2500HD had a bit more squat than is ideal. I shopped airbags but didn't want to spend ~$2K for the set up and didn't want the hassle of installation and forever chasing air leaks. The Timbren SES literally installs on the Silverado in about 15 minutes. So simple. No bags, no compressor, no wiring, no air lines, no leaks. And WAY less expensive to boot. Just returned form a 600+ mile trip and it towed flawlessly.

by:

A very simple and straightforward installation once you get the oem bumper stops off (had a shop do that)
Timbren worked with me as I had a non OEM frame height (vehicle was lower than stock) to recommend the proper kit. Highly recommend contacting timbren if you are unsure of the proper kit to use. Ride is more stable. It does feel stiffer and less bouncy but am looking forward to seeing how it performs with my truck camper. Truck is a 1998 dodge ram 2500. Brake line over left side of axle needed to be secured to prevent damage.

by:

The Timbren overload spring/bumper was east to install and did what it was supposed to do when I hitched up a camp trailer. These did not negatively affect the ride by any means and I don't have to worry about the troubles with air bags.

by:

Stiffens and corrects kneel in rear end of 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500. You will notice a stiffening of the rear end suspension while unloaded, but it’s a fair trade off to prevent sagging and porpoising while towing. I found it easier to pull the rear wheels and work from the side than underneath the vehicle while installing.

by:

The timbres bump stop is exactly the right height to meet the axel when the trailer is connected with all its weight onto the hitch. I have an Andersen weight distribution hitch and it levels out perfectly. The day picture is with the coach (Winn 2100bh) with factory equipment. The night picture is after the timbres are in place. Looks good.

by:

It has been almost a year since I installed Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems (DVF350 and DVR350R) on the front and rear of my 2003 Dodge RAM Van 3500. These bumpers replaced the OEM bump stops that were on my van. I like the Timbren bumpers much better than the OEM bump stops because they provide a progressively cushioned response for suspension compression when traveling over significant humps like speed bumps in a parking lot, or curb ramps into driveways. I did not like the abrupt stop the OEM bump stops provided when traveling over the same objects. I installed the Timbren rear bumpers first, and after a few months of use, I decided to add them to the front. In both cases, the front and rear Timbren bumpers were easy to install once the OEM bump stops were removed. Installation required reuse of the factory hardware. On my van, the Timbren bumpers are not always engaged. Under normal load and travel conditions the bumpers are relaxed and about 1/2” away from the suspension landing points. However, their presence is much appreciated and very noticeable when the van is carrying heavy loads or handling significant humps.

by:

2022 F250 Super Duty. Super easy to install. I have about 3/4" gap between the spring and the plate. Time will tell how they impact the ride quality and how much sag they mitigate with my 5th wheel hooked up.

by:

Great upgrade when pulling our 6500lb travel trailer. Helps with sag and control on the road on our Ram 1500. Change the stock shocks and if you choose, upgrade your stock springs, and you'll get the most out of your half ton.

by:

Absolutely Pleased with the TIMBRENS. They were easy to install, and took less than an hour to install both. I noticed a slight stiffness in the ride as the rear bounced over a bad roadway. Towing is great, with a nice level and smooth ride. I am glad that I did not order the heavier duty Timbrens, than what was recomended for my truck. I believe the ride would have been too stiff. If you look at the photos showing the timbrens, the truck is still lifted in the rear, so what you see is a big gap between the rubber, and the steal plate. When the truck is lowered, there's 1" of space as it should be. BTW, I have been purchasing from etrailer for years now, and I have to say that I have never had any issues with any orders. They are my go to folks for all of my vehicle suppension stuff and trailer stuff. You can't go wrong with buying from them.

by:

Great product!

by:

Spring travel on RAV4 is less than expected for an easy install. The product is excellent quality and performance as advertised

by:

When carrying the same bike rack and bikes noticed little to no difference in rear suspension sag after installing suspension enhancer.

by:

I was able to install them in less than an hour with a regular floor jack. Plenty of soapy water and they went in without any issues. Now I can’t wait to tow to see the difference they will make!

by:

The product worked great on our 2020 Toyota Sienna. Without the spacers the van would almost touch the ground when hitched to the empty trailer. After installing the Timbren suspension enhancement system it gave the van about an inch of height and with the trailer loaded with several hundred pounds of moving boxes the van only dropped about an inch and a half.super happy with the product.

by:

Seems like a well-made product, but I could not get these onto my springs. The top rubber lip would not fit over the coil. Plenty of soap and water, and I let them soften up in the sun for an hour. Is there a different product that is less stiff or easier to install? I'll need to return these.

Did you have the rear of the vehicle jacked up so the rear axle hangs loose? They're much easier to install if the coil springs are at full extension.

@MikeL Yes, completely raised. The top rubber grove lip would not fit inside the spring for me. Do you happen to have a more playable or slightly smaller option?

  • What Will Work with My Toyota Sienna Hybrid Front Wheel Drive to Help the Squat in the Rear?
Hello William, Thanks for writing in, you are correct the Firestone #F4155 is not a good fit for the 2021 to 2024 Sienna Hybrid. The hybrid models have some key differences in the rear suspension area due to battery placement and tighter coil spring spacing. Because of that, air bag kits like the 4155 do not have confirmed fitment, which can lead to interference or installation issues and the possibility of still dealing with rear sag after spending the money. Hey Ben! The Curt does have that restriction on the vertical bike racks so I recommend the TowSmart Trailer Hitch # TS82VR. This has a higher tongue weight capacity and will allow you to carry the VelociRAX. It would be a good idea to add the etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar # e38FV as well to help cut down on any movement from the rack. • Do Timbren Coil Springs For 2022 Toyota RAV4 Have Weight Rating
Hi Sharon, There is not a weight rating for the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # T58GR that fit your 2022 Toyota RAV4, they will be effective regardless of the weight on the springs, as they compress based on the amount of weight you have there. The Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs # AL64VJ have a 1,000 lb weight rating, though that means they can help level your RAV4 with up to 1,000 lbs of weight on the springs. Realistically though, there won't be 1,000 lbs...

Hey Rick, I have a solution for you but the # CSS-1168R are not listed as a fit for the all wheel drive versions of the 2023 Toyota Sienna. That said we have heard from customers with the AWD versions and it did work well so it should work just fine. Are you bottoming out? If any of these things are true then it would be a good idea to add the Timbren SES - Coil Spring Suspension # T58GR for extra support. If you're driving around with the cargo carrier and a fully loaded vehicle every single day then it is probably a good idea regardless. Front...

Hey Tom, congratulations on the new vehicle and camper! This can get pretty confusing so I'll try to clear things up for you here. What you're hearing about a unibody is typically correct. Most of the time you do not want to use a weight distribution hitch, but it is not an absolute. The bigger issue here is that factory hitch. Suspension enhancement would not reduce sway so I would not recommend that.
