Collin: Hey everyone. I'm Collin here at etrailer. Today, we have a 2019 Toyota Tundra. We're going to do a test fit of the Thule WingBar Evo roof-rack system. This roof rack is going to mount to the naked roof of your Tundra. It's going to allow you to get your favorite accessories on top of your roof whether you have a bike rack, a cargo basket, or even a rooftop cargo box.
That'll help conserve space on the inside of your cab or even in the bed of your pickup. Up top, we're going to have our WingBar Evo crossbars. These are going to measure 60-inches long, and they're also going to have a nice aerodynamic shape to them that when coupled with the rubber strip up top, it's going to help cut down on wind noise and drag when compared to your standard square or round-bar roof-rack system. That rubber strip also lets us know we can utilize T-track accessories with this roof rack. All we have to do is flip open the cap right there. We don't have to pull off the end cap like some other systems, and instead of having to pull off the rubber strip and then cut it to length for whatever roof-rack accessory we're using, we can just slide the T-track in between the two rubber strips. It's going to prevent us from having to replace that rubber strips when we're done.
Then when we're all done with the T-track, we just close that end cap, and we're good to go.Now, in the middle, we're going to have our Evo feet for naked roofs. These are going to be what's connecting the fit kit to your crossbars. The clamp feet have a bolt on the inside, which tightens down the hook to the roof. We're going to have under it our fit kit, which is a rubber-coated hook in a very thick rubber pad. Those are going to help protect your roof from any type of scratches or abrasions.
You can see the nice custom-fit design to that pad comes over the curvature of our roof and sits down on that ledge right there. The rubber-coated hook is going to latch right under our doorframe, and once we tighten that bolt down, it's going to pull it up, and once we tighten it down on both sides, it's going to be secure on our roof. When we put the end cap back on, we see we do have some plastic locks right here. We can replace those with Thule lock cores. That'll give a more secure feeling for our roof rack. So no one can just come up and remove it.Now, I do want to provide you guys with a few measurements.
First, we're going to go from the top of our roof to the bottom of our wing bar. It's going to be two-and-a-quarter inches. Now, that's plenty of space to be able to get any clamp-on accessories under the wing bar to clamp around and secure. Now, if we go from the top of our roof to the top of our crossbar, it's going to be three and three quarter inches. So, you want to keep that in mind because that's how much height you've added to the roof of your Tundra. So, for any low -clearance situations, like pulling in your garage, keep in mind that you have that added height to your roof. We're also going to have a 220-pound weight capacity for our wing bar setup. That is a step up from the previous load bar roof rack, but be sure to double check with your Tundra's owner's manual to make sure your roof can handle that weight. Now, that we've gone over some of those features, let's show you guys how to get it installed. The front one installs and assembles the exact same way. How we got the front one in place was we set it on top of our roof, and then we measured from the top of our windshield to the front of our foot. That measurement you can find in your instructions. We'll start by just flipping over our crossbar. We're going to go to the end cap and take that off. We'll set it to the side. Now, we're going to come over here to our fit kit and put that together. So, we have our Evo clamp foot right here. We're going to take our pad, clamp that on. The pads are numbered right here to assist you with which spot on the roof they go. Again, that information is on your instructions. Just make sure you get the correct pad number on the correct spot on the roof. There's going to be diagrams on the instructions to let you know exactly where it sits.Just press that on there until it clamps all the way around. Now, we'll grab our hook, and again, these are going to be numbered. However, the hooks in this kit are all going to be the exact same. You're not going to have to worry about getting a certain hook on a certain part of the roof. So, what we're going to do is take the hook. We're going to push it into this slot. When you hear a click, that lets you know that it's locked in place right there. Go ahead and try to pull on it. If it doesn't move, then we can go over and get it on our crossbar. Now, we have our scale already preset to the number specified in our instructions that are being engraved on the scale. Once you have that, we're going to press in on the two silver buttons right there. That's going to unlock the channel, so we can slide it into the T-track of our crossbar. We're going to push it forward until it makes contact with the edge of the scale. Once it's there, let go of the buttons, and now it's locked in place. Put your end cap on. Now, we can put it on our roof. With both rear doors open, we're going to step up onto our running board. I'm going to extend it over our roof and just set it down. We don't have to worry about tightening anything down because we have to get our crossbar spread to make sure it's sitting in the correct spot. Now, I don't have the rear door shut all the way, just enough to where I can reach up and make a measurement. We're going to go from the front of the back crossbar, the front of our front crossbar. This measurement you can find in your instructions. I'm going to have to come up a little bit. Once you have that measurement, make sure you repeat this for the other side. Now, we can begin tightening up our feet. What we're going to do is tighten it down until we see our pad making contact with the roof, and it's flush all the way around the curves. Right now, the reason it's tilted up is because the other side is pulling just a little bit more.So once we tighten that down and get it flush, we'll go to the other side and then repeat this and just keep going back and forth until we have it tightened down all the way. We've got the other side fully tightened down. Now, we'll just finish up this side. The tool's going to let you know when you have it completely torqued down. The tool will make a couple of clicks, letting us know that it's torqued to the correct specifications. Right there. Now we know it's tight. We can shut our door, and then we'll just put our end cap on. Go ahead and give your roof rack a quick shake. Make sure that it's steady. We see it shaking the entire truck, which means we're ready to hit the road.Thank you all for watching. That's going to do it for our test fit of the Thule WingBar Evo roof-rack system on our 2019 Toyota Tundra.

Premium, aerodynamic crossbars attach to Thule feet to create a quiet, stylish roof rack for your vehicle. Dual rubber strips in T-slots let you easily mount accessories - no trimming required. Simple to center and install with integrated scales.I've had the roof rack for a year now and we only use it sporadically in the winter to put the ski box ontop of the car but it works great. Very easy to install and remove and very sturdy. Previously I had the kind that bolted into the roof of my SUV and had a terrible experience with that (we lost the rack and kayaks on the freeway and it tore holes in my roof). The clamp style is the only kind we'll get from now on because they are much sturdier and no risk of losing them. Definitely recommend them.
I just got my packages and had it installed within the hour very satisfied
No problems installing. The rack is doing fine.
Product was right fit for my vehicle and installed perfectly. Etrailer was knowledgeable and got the goods to me quickly. Enjoyed working with them and will again.
Easy to install, fit and finish are top notch.
I've owned this roof rack for a year now, and it has served my purposes (carrying my kayak around on my truck) quite well. It was fairly easy to assemble, largely because the entire instruction guide was in pictures.
I have had to retighten the rack a couple of times since putting it on the roof, so I tie the kayak down to the front and back of the truck as well as to the roof rack. I suspect the ocean kayak puts a bit of lift on the roof rack resulting in the loosening.
Worked perfectly on my 2020 GMC Sierra. Looks and works great.
I have almost always had roof rails on my vehicles. My F150 had no rails and I was nervous about clamp style rack holders given what I tend to carry on top. These have been great and I am positive I have overloaded them numerous times.
Seamless ordering and delivery. Video instructions very helpful
Great quality products! Easy installation with properly guided instructions. One of the best tracking information, from ordering to delivery. Would strongly recommend etrailer to anyone looking for roof or hitch bike racks.
Worked Perfect & Secured a very heavy load in extreme weather & off road conditions
Easy to install with the anchors and crossbars, and still holding up great a year later.
Excellent system
One of the Evo Clamps is missing the plastic plate where the rubber spacer attaches. Please send a new plate or new clamp so I can finish my install. See attached photos to see the difference.
Great product from Thule. Fit my 2022 Ford Ranger perfectly and is very strong and secure when installed. Excellent customer service from trailer and extremely fast shipping.
I bought the Thule Evo Roof Rack to transport my kayak on my Lexus 300H. Thule will advise you on their website that his particular rack is not right for a Lexus 300H (i.e., they don't make a roof rack for a Lexus 300H); it is really for a Camry, but etrailer told me that is worked, I trusted them and they were correct. After all, a Lexus sedan is really a fancy Camry, but Thule will not acknowledge this point. It works great. Thule makes a solid product.
Superb quality. Of course, it is from Thule and they are expensive for sure. But, you really get what you pay for!
And, just consider how expensive it would be if using something more affordable (cheap generic brand) and the racks/bars take off from the roof with the box on the highway!
These will not take off, super sturdy and fits the car perfectly.
Just be sure to get the right kit.
And follow the paper instructions coming along the parts.
Can recommend these, were for Nissan Leaf 2021.
And not to forget the etrailer company, they did their part as well with flying colors. All parts arrived in time and were correct!
Solid foot for Thule roof rack. Used these for square bar but applicable for aero bar options as well.
Installed on a pickup truck. Hauls canoe very well. We love our rack. Easy to mount and very strong. No issues in thousands of miles of hauling. Great rack.
Sturdy and working as expected.
The roof rack fits well on my Honda Pilot. The customer service was exceptional. They were friendly and also professional. The items were packaged very well and arrived on time.
Customer Service at etrailer is par none, both before the sale and after. I had an unpleasant experience elsewhere buying and installing a roof rack for my old Prius. After a few days of frustrations, I sent it back to that old online store.
This time, I contacted etrailer to see what ALL I needed to install a rack on my new 2018 Honda CRV. They sent me the part numbers and a link to purchase. Viola! After they arrived, I had difficulty with one of the parts (at 69 yo my hands are not too strong or flexible) and contacted etrailer. They sent pictures and more thorough instructions on installing the rubber strip. Another VIOLA!
I'm so very happy with my total experience at etrailer. Customer Service, truly, is not better any where else I have made online or brick-n-mortar purchases.
The Thule Eco clamps and roof rack performed excellently. We traveled over 12,000 miles last summer out west and it carried a inflatable canoe and other gear and was flawless. Securing straps adequately reduces wind noise significantly. There was no motion or shifting during the entire trip. Total poundage secured during our adventures was approximately 100 lbs.
Works real well!
I am very happy with the Thule racks purchased from etrailer for my Mazda CX-5. Everything was included, easy to fit together and the assembled racks feel very secure. To top it off, the sales help from etrailer was excellent - my original rack selection was backordered and they got in touch with me to offer one that was readily available.
