The flush design keeps the crossbars tight to the roofline, giving your setup a clean, factory-installed look. The bars don’t extend past the feet, so nothing sticks out awkwardly. It’s a streamlined finish that blends right in and keeps a low, balanced profile on top.
When you’re driving with gear on your roof, wind noise can get old fast. These aero-style crossbars help keep things quiet by cutting through the air efficiently. The split rubber strips fill in the top channels to reduce wind noise and vibration while you’re on the road, keeping your trip more relaxed from start to finish.
Whether it’s kayaks in summer or skis in winter, this rack makes it easy to swap between different setups. The bars work with most bike, watersport, snow, and cargo carriers using either channel-mount or clamp-on attachments. That means you can load up your favorite accessories without worrying about compatibility.
Installing accessories can be frustrating when rubber strips need trimming just to fit mounts. The split-strip design here skips that step entirely. Just slide your accessory into the top channel and you’re good to go—the strip closes back up around it for a snug fit that seals against wind and weather without extra work.
You can upgrade with Thule’s One-Key System locks (sold separately) to secure both the rack and any channel-mounted accessories. It’s a simple way to deter theft when your vehicle is parked for the night or sitting at a trailhead after unloading your gear.

I agree with you that the rack should include the keys however Thule only offers the one lock system separately as part # TH450400 for a 4 pack. They do it this way so that if you have other Thule accessories like a Thule kayak or bike carrier then you can have the option of ordering enough keys to swap them all out to key them the same. For example you can also buy a six part part # TH450600 or an eight pack like part # TH450800.
