Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this OptiMate 7 eight-step, AC to DC, 12 volt and 24 volt smart battery charger and maintainer. Now, this is a nice, compact smart charger which will draw power from an AC wall outlet to automatically charge, test and maintain batteries on your cars, trucks, RVs, motorcycles, and even boats. This is designed to work with 12 volt and 24 volt standard AGM, gel, EFP and deep cycle lead-acid batteries. Does give you multiple battery profiles that'll let you charge a variety of lead-acid battery types at different voltages.
And it does use an eight-step charging algorithm, which will automatically charge and maintain without overcharging. Basically, it will analyze the battery condition to provide a custom, customized charge for that battery. It does also have a built-in battery desulfator, which will restore lost battery capacity and it'll save sulfated batteries as low as .5 volts. It will test automatically and indicate if there's a battery problem and it'll adjust the voltage based on temperature. Now, the ampmatic charge will determine your battery size and adjust the charging current to suit your battery.
And the way you connect this charger to your batteries, they give you two options here. It includes the standard battery clamps, which will provide a nice, quick, easy way to connect to your battery. Has the positive and negative clamps. And on the other end is the SAE connector that'll plug into the SAE connector on the charger. Total length on this cable is about 20 inches.
And then the other way is a little more permanent. They offer the eyelets right here that'll make a secure connection to your battery terminals. Does include a 15 amp inline fuse to protect your electronics from potential short circuits. So, we've mentioned it does have the SAE connector. What's nice about this one is because it's a little more permanent, they do have the nice weatherproof seal on the SAE connector, and includes a cap that when you're not using, it'll help keep out dirt and water.
And same way, on this cable is about 20 inches. Now, this is a simple operation. Uses LED lights that will indicate the charging status. Has an auto-memory feature, which remembers the last selection if power is lost. And you could see it's a nice, durable weatherproof case. Includes the wall mounts, two at the bottom, two at the top here. Does include the six foot AC supply lead and the six foot charge lead with the SAE connector on it. Few specs on this charger, the application for 12 volt batteries, it's three to 400 amp hours. 24 volt batteries, three to 200 amp powers. The battery type supported, again, are standard AGM, gel, EFP and deep cycle. And the maximum charging amperage at 12 volts is 10 amps, and at 24 volts is five amps. But that should do it for the review on this OptiMate 7 eight-step, AC to DC, 12 volt and 24 volt smart battery charger and maintainer..
