Video Transcript for Inno Roof Rack Review - 2018 Ford Escape

Speaker 1: Today in our 2018 Ford Escape, we're going to be test fitting the Inno square bar roof rack system consisting of part numbers INB127, these are the Inno square cross bars 50 inches long, as well as part number INFR which are the Inno feet for the crossbars, particularly the factory raised side rails. The Inno square bar roof rack system is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your roof, offering up space inside your vehicle. This can carry anything from bikes racks to cargo baskets to cargo boxes. The square bars are very strong and sturdy, however they will make noise while you drive so you may have to purchase an after market fairing, which you can find on etrailer.com. Or you can upgrade to Aero bars, which you can also find on etrailer.com. And they simply wrap around your existing factory raised side rails with a rubber coated steel straps and have integrated knobs here to tighten them or loosen them up as you need, so you can take these on and off as you like while you travel.I'd like to give you a couple of quick measurements now.

From the center of the roof to the bottom of the bar is going to be about an inch and seven eighths, center of the roof to the top of the bar is going to be about two and seven eighths. So that's going to give you enough space in between the roof rack and the roof itself to attach your roof minded accessories without interference. However, you will not be able to use your sunroof, if you have one of those for your particular vehicle. Both parts combined have a carrying capacity of 220 pounds, but you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure your roof can withstand those weights. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the roof rack system, let's go ahead and show you how it installs. We already have our front bar installed onto our Escape and we have our rear bar partially assembled on our table here.

Our next step is, we're going to slide our Inno square bar foot here, onto the other end of our bar and then install it onto the roof.So we'll slide our square bar through this opening at the end and it just simply slides onto place. We'll then take our end cap here and that just pushes on to make sure everything doesn't fall off and now we can move on to our vehicle. So we'll set our bar into place, ensure our strap goes underneath here and then we'll measure from center to center on the bars on both sides, to make sure that's even and then from this point out on both sides to make sure the cross bar overhang is even as well. When measuring this out, you just don't it to be under 24 inches. Right, that looks good. We can wrap our strap up underneath to this top latch here and use our integrated knob to tighten it down, we'll do this on the driver's side as well.

Then we can put on our end caps, lock those in place, then we can load up our gear and hit the road. There you have it for the Inno square bar roof rack system on our 2018 Ford Escape.

Hi, awesome roof rack, I took me a while to find it. Like the design and so far so good, still looks like new 621547

I’ve had this roof rack system for about a year now and it has worked consistently well for the entire 12 months and I believe will continue to work well for me for the for seeable future. I gave it four stars initially and four stars now because I do think the fit and finish of the system could be better. That’s not a dealbreaker for its function because it’s excellent in doing the work it’s designed to do but it just isn’t the prettiest. Great rack, buy it... it will work hard for you. Picture provided features Curt basket with Rino Bedliner treatment. 605957

I have only had these on for a few days but all seems well. Very little extra noise although I can hear a bit when I'm going over 100 km/h but nothing too bad at all. Installation was extremely simple and straight forward. Took me all of 20 minutes and most of that was just making sure the cross bars were exactly parallel. These shipped to my house (just outside of Toronto) in around 4 days with no extra border fees which was fantastic. I only wanted these to strap a canoe onto the roof of my Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk so I didnt need anything too heavy duty or bulky and this fits the bill perfectly. 500219

First and foremost… YES! I would recommend this product to anyone, so def. read further. Price wise… well below what the more known name brands wanted for a similar setup. Product is well made , but if I had to point out one defect… the rubber shoe the rests between the factory roof bar and the inno feet detaches easily during install (see photo). I will figure out how to securely attatch it when I remove it, because (IMO) it's not one of those units that remains on perminantly. 423515

I occasionally carry building materials that are too large for the inside of the vehicle and this roof rack is sturdy and attractive. The square bars are strong, and the connectors are easy to attach and remove on the factory roof rails. Etrailer.com is the best! 357231

One year later, I still like my roof racks. However, I finally figured out that they cause wind noise inside the vehicle Toyota 2017 RAV4 at highway cruising speeds, even though the windows are closed. Therefore, I remove them on longer trips and install them only when needed.

  • Are Crossbars Required for the Inno Board Locker Surfboard Carrier Part # INA744
In order to use the Inno Board Locker Surfboard Carrier part # INA744 on your Jeep Patriot with raised side rails you would need a set of crossbars. Unfortunately, none of our watersport carriers are designed to attach directly to the raised side rails. Generally speaking, almost all rooftop carriers are designed to attach to crossbars for the exception of some ski carriers and cargo bags. For your Jeep Patriot, I recommend using the Inno Square Crossbar Roof Rack System part # INB117...

The Curt Roof Mounted Cargo Basket - 62-1/2" Long x 37" Wide x 4" Deep # C18115-117 will work with this roof rack. You are correct that a light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch like # 24848 has a 200-lb tongue weight (TW) capacity. However, when it comes to bike racks there is another factor that comes into play, leverage on the hitch tube. The more bikes the rack holds the longer it tends to be, naturally. This increased distance from the hitch to the outermost bike translates into extreme leverage forces on the hitch tube, forces that would damage a light-duty Class I hitch. For this reason all Class...
