Video Transcript for Setting up the Inno Aero Crossbars on your 2021 Subaru Forester

Hi, everyone. It's Evey Angelina, right here at etrailer. And today we're going to be taking a look at our Inno Aero roof rack system with the Inno Aero Crossbars that are 51 and 54 inches long and our Inno Through Feet right here on our 2021 Subaru Forester. So you have your Subaru Forester and you're ready for adventure. What if you want to carry things like high axe or bikes or roof boxes, roof baskets, you have a lot of options but the first thing you need is a roof rack system. So what I have here is the Inno Aero roof rack system with the wider crossbars.

I think this is probably going to be one of the sleekest systems we have here at etrailer. We have a bunch of options but if you're going for low profile and stylish and has weight capacity and has locks included we have a bunch of features. You might be interested in this one. So let's take a look at all those different features right here in this video. Since we have the wider crossbars the big advantage this has is it has a little bit more overhang.

So your actual overhang is going to be a little different depending on where you measure. That's why you have uneven crossbars because when it all comes down to it they're pretty much the same once they're finally on your roof. In fact, as an example is the overhang for our rear crossbar from the end of the tower to before the end cap is going to be three and a half inches. And for our front crossbar, exact same spots, it's going to be three and a half inches of overhang. Now we'll take a look at roof clearances.

So those are two different measurements. The first is going to be from the top of our roof to the bottom of our crossbar. Very important since we have a glass roof over here. You have a clearance of three and a half inches. So if you have bindings on your skis or want to be careful with that clearance but most importantly for accessories that have clamps that go around your crossbar this is actually considered low profile.

So you want to make sure that those clamps aren't too big and will hit your roof and that you have enough clearance as well to tighten things down is the UCU bolts or wingnuts. Second measurement is going to be the roof height or the added height to top of our roof. So from the roof to top of the crossbar, it sits at about four and five eighth inches and that's going to be where your cargo is going to sit. If you're carrying a ladder, that's as high up off your vehicle it's going to sit. If you're carrying skis with extra large bindings, you also want to be conscious of your ski and snowboard carriers because that's not that much height for extra large bindings. The good news is that your Forester has raised rails with a pretty good amount of crossbar spread. You can adjust this depending on your different accessories. Some require a specific crossbar spread for their clamps. I have it at 29 inches, right now. But you could move this further out or further back depending on what you want to do. And I would like to say you could probably get about a maximum of 40 inches of crossbar spread which is really cool. Just to be mindful that you can still open up your hatch. On the top of our very sleek aerodynamic crossbar, we have these rubber strips. So those are covering our T-tracks. So if you open up the end cap which has a little tab you can just push down on these rubber strips and slide your T-track mounted accessory through. That's really convenient because then you don't have to cut those weather strips. They pop right back up around your T-track system which means that everything is still in place. These are the Inno Aero bars. What are aero bars Well they're the more modern crossbar compared to your round and square crossbars. When you would drive down the highway with those on it would be really noisy, if you get a lot of wind drag. This is designed to reduce that wind drag and wind noise and make for a smoother ride without any accessories on top. This also gives you a bit more stability and space for T-track mounted accessories. Because if you have that T-track system, you can then utilize all of the crossbar and not be limited by where the towers are. I highly recommend using T-track mount accessory, just for that reason. Here we have the Inno Through Feet. So these are your towers, your foot packs, your clamps whatever you want to call them. They hold your crossbars to your race rails. And I would consider these sleek and low-profile so they don't give as much height as other towers which could be a good thing. Since it could look almost factory in some people's opinions. Now these have integrated locks. So all of them have a locking core. One, two, three, four you're going to get two keys. These keys match the entire system. They pop right in there and once they are unlocked, you can just easily take that pack out and then access the locking or the tightening down clamps. Now these do not lock your crossbars themselves though. So if you did have T-track mounted accessories, people could just pop off that end cap and then access that. So for that case, I would recommend taking a look at lockable T-track mounted accessories. If you want to secure both your accessories and your roof rack. This roof rack system includes everything you need to install it. You have the levers integrated in the towers themselves. You get your keys but some other things that are not included but I recommend adding are two things. One is going to be a tape measure just to get all your measurements. The second is going to be this Moki doorstep. So this is what I use throughout all of our videos gives me some extra height, extra traction. This gets so much easier to tighten things down. Also if you're going to be using roof boxes, roof baskets and you need to strap cargo down this is going to help out a lot with that on your Forester. So the install process can be very fast if you know what you're doing. So that's what this video is for. I can guide you through the process, make sure you get it done right and we'll find out all my shortcuts as well. So the first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to line this up so our tray is towards the center. You will have to press the button on the inside first in case you can't push it all the way in. And once that tray is lined up you're ready to put your tower once you get this end cap off. Just press that tab, pull that off, grab your tower. So your tower is going to have these tabs. Those tabs are going to fit into that tray. So you can have a right tower and a left tower. You'll know because the tabs will always fit on the correct side. So once you got that in place, just put it over and then pull it. And that immediately secures the tower to the crossbar. What I like to do from here is just to put our end cap on so it's already ready to go. And then we put this on the roof. Another thing is, make sure it's facing the correct way. You want your tapered end of the crossbar facing the back of your vehicle and the larger end facing the front. So once you have that lined up you're then just going to go onto your roof and then fit this strap over your rails. And then the tower goes on top on each side, just like that. And now is where you take measurements. So I actually installed the first crossbar first so that we can install the second crossbar together. There's two measurements you're going to have to take. One is going to be the crossbar spread, that is how far apart do you want cross bars to be. I want mine to be about 29 inches apart. Just because that's so sounds a good number for most accessories, right there. So make sure to measure that on both sides and then measure the overhang. So that's going to be from the end of the tower to right before the end cap. Make sure that's the same on both sides. Also, if you're using the Inner Roof Rack system with a shorter crossbars, you're going to want to have the long version in the front and the shorter crossbar in the back. So once you've taken those measurements and arranged things and rearranged things to make them perfect then the next step is just to put this strap up into those tabs and then you're going to tighten it down with this included lever. I really like how they have an easy to use lever. So compared to tools and wrenches you use to tighten down the towers this is so much easier. Do this on both sides. So once you have that tightened down as much as you can get it, you're then gonna flip that lever down, just double check that your towers are nice and secure and then you have this end cap. This end cap is going to go into your tower has a little tab that it fits in. And then you're going to secure it with your key. And once all four towers are in place and you've double checked that all four end caps are in place too that's it for the install. So my personal thoughts about this roof rack is I really like how you get the different options for wider or shorter crossbars here with Inno. What's really cool is that they have different size crossbars because of the way your roof is designed on your Forester. If you're looking for a stylish roof rack for your Forester, I would highly recommend this one. If you're looking for something that's a bit more cost effective, though, you might be interested in the Malone AirFlow two. You don't get as cool or as premium of a roof rack with that one but you still get the job done. Something that's actually even easier to install is going to be the Rhino Rack Roof Rack for raised rails. You might want to check that one out too, but again, if you're going for stylish, checks up all the boxes, you're able to lock everything down. Definitely go with this one, especially this one which has the 51 inch and the 54 inch long crossbars. Those extra couple inches are definitely worth it in my opinion. And that was a look right here at our Inno Aero roof rack system with the Inno Aero crossbars and the Inno Through Feet right here on our 2021 Subaru Forester..

I recommend the following components from Inno: Inno Aero Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 60" Long - Qty 2 # INXB153-2 Inno Through Feet for Aero Crossbars - Raised Side Rails - Qty 4 # INXS150 The 60" crossbars should give you roughly 4-1/4" of overhang on each side...

  • Recommended Roof Basket and Crossbars For a 2022 Ford Bronco
For your 2022 Ford Bronco, I recommend checking out the Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Rack Cargo Basket # Y07070-74. This roof basket measures 62" long x 39" wide x 6-1/2" tall, has a max weight capacity of 140 lbs, and will work great with your 2022 Ford Bronco. You are also going to need a set of crossbars # INXB130-138 & # INXS150 to use this or any roof basket as they are not going to work with just your raised rails.

  • Is There a Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver For 2023/2024 Ford Expedition Carrying Fishing Rods?
It appears you are going to need to have a front mount trailer hitch receiver fabricated for your 2023 or 2024 Ford Expedition as I do not see a custom fit aftermarket option available. We do have the Weld-On 2" Receiver # E17 which will aid in the fabrication of a custom receiver. If this is not an option you like the only other I can recommend is installing a Inno Roof Rack with the Crossbars # INXB160-2 and Feet # INXS150 which will attach to the factory raised rails on your Expedition....

  • Can 2018 Toyota Sienna Sunroof Be Opened with Roof Rack Installed
We generally side with the manufacturers when it comes to opening the sunroof with a roof rack installed; do so at your own risk. With the small amount of clearance you have on your 2018 Toyota Sienna I don't see you being able to safely open up that rear sunroof with the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack # MAL84AR, but I may have an alternative solution for you from Inno with these parts: - 51" Inno Aero Crossbars # INXB130-2 - Inno Through Feet # INXS150 This roof rack uses straps to secure...

  • Best Value Roof Rack For 2020 Subaru Crosstrek With Factory Raised Rails
I understand that you want the best roof rack for your money. I recommend the Inno Aero Crossbars part # INXB123-130 and feet part # INXS150. The Inno Aero Crossbars are very comparable to the quality of other more well known brands out there. They are designed to be aerodynamic to cut down on wind noise and feature the built in t-slot to easily mount accessories with t-bolts without needing to the rubber strip like with other brands. The bars are a nice black aluminum construction for...

  • Cargo Boxes Compatible With 44 inch Crossbar Spread On A 2021 Toyota Tacoma With OEM Roof Rack?
Be sure to measure from the Center of the front bar to the center of the rear bar to get an accurate crossbar spread. I just want to make sure that you have the right measurement because there isn't a box that is designed to fit that long of a spread. The closest thing i have is a 42 inch crossbar spread with the Yakima SkyBox 21 # Y07337 and that won't fit. Your only option would be to stow the factory roof rack away and get the Inno Through Feet # INXS150 and the Aero Crossbars # INXB130-2....

  • Cargo box and Roof Rack Recommendation For 2019 Nissan Rogue
Cargo Boxes are not technically vehicle specific, as long as you have a roof rack on the vehicle you can use a cargo box that is compatible with the bars that you have. Measure from the center of the rear cross bar to the center of the front cross bar for the cross bar spread. You also want to measure from the center of the front cross bear to the point where the roof and hatch meet. I recommend to use a box with a more versatile fit like Malone Cargo16 Rooftop Cargo Box part # MPG902...

  • Which Roof Rack Will Work On My 2020 Jeep Cherokee With Black Factory Roof Rails?
That is not a dumb question at all; this is not a very common situation. I do have a solution for you, but unfortunately the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack # MPG215 and Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack # MPG216 will not fit your 2020 Jeep Cherokee because the factory raised black rails on your roof are actually wider than the silver rails. These crossbars are only wide enough to fit the dimensions of the silver roof rails. For a similar aerodynamic style crossbar setup that will fit your black roof...

  • Do Inno Crossbars Work With Thule Evo Raised Rail Feet
The Thule Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401 do not work with other branded crossbars, but will fit any Thule Crossbar. That includes the Thule AeroBlade, WingBar, WingBar Evo, SquareBar, and ProBar. If you have Inno crossbars already then you'll want the Through Feet # INXS150 for aero-style crossbars or the Feet # INFR if you have their square crossbars.

  • Best Roof Rack and Surfboard Carrier for a 2020 Toyota 4Runner with the Raised Side Rails
While it is true that price does typically reflect quality, when it comes to roof racks you will be just as happy with the performance of a middle-of-the-road aero-style rack as you would with one of the ones at a higher price-point. Because of this I highly recommend the Inno roof rack for your 2020 Toyota 4Runner with the raised side rails. This consists of 54" Aero Crossbars # INXB138-2 and the Through Feet # INXS150. It not only gives you the aerodynamic crossbars but the feet also...

  • Roof Rack Systems for 2004 Volvo XC90 with Factory Roof Side Rails
The Thule crossbar part 853-2341-07 is a special 47-1/4-inch square-style roof rack crossbar intended for their specialty rack TH440. It fits on the foot assembly # 753-3603. The square bar roof racks from Thule that are made for your 2004 Volvo XC90 are much longer at 58-inches. These bars will not work on the car. I did call Thule to confirm and they advised there is no way to retro-fit your existing bars to the Volvo. Good thought though. On the linked page you can see all roof rack...

  • Why Do Inno Roof Rack for 2022 Subaru Forester Have Different Length Crossbars
Inno has a few roof racks that fit your 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness edition with raised rails. The reason for this is basically because some people want more bar space for more accessories whereas other people might prefer a shorter bar option. For a 51 and 54 inch version you'd want the part numbers # INXB130-138 and # INXS150 whereas for a staggered set of 48 and 51 inch # INXB123-130 and # INXS150. Now the reason for the different lengths of bars that fit each rack has is because...

  • Roof Box Compatiblity 2015 Ford Explorer W/ Panoramic Roof
Generally speaking, a cargo box like the Thule Force XT Rooftop Cargo Box part # TH6358B can be used on vehicles with a sun, moon or panoramic roofs. However, it is not recommend you open the roof opening while the cargo box is installed due to noise and possible clearance issues. A moon roof will not have problems with clearing the crossbar as they do not extend up past the roof line. A sun roof however does. Therefore you will want to ensure you do have clearance between the sunroof...

  • Inno Roof Rack Recommendation and Kayak Carrier For 2019 Toyota Sienna
Yes there is an Inno Roof Rack for the 2019 Toyota Sienna, the Inno Roof Rack part # INXB130-2 for the bars and part # INXS150 for the feet. I recommend the longer 51" bars to make it easier to carry the 2 kayaks on the roof. It is a good idea to carry the kayaks on their sides in J-Style carriers to ensure you have enough space on the roof to carry them both. For the carriers, I recommend 2 sets of etrailer.com J-style carriers part # e98878 which comes with the 2 load straps and bow/stern...

  • Inno Roof Rack For 2017 Ford Expedition & 2021 Volvo XC60
You can use the same Inno crossbars for your 2017 Ford Expedition and 2021 Volvo XC60, but you'd need different feet for each as the Volvo technically uses flush rails (which are raised up but still considered flush). So the part numbers you mentioned will work on your Ford, but not the Volvo. Here's what you can use: 2017 Ford Expedition - Inno Aero Crossbars # INXB130-2 - Inno Through Feet for Aero Crossbars - Raised Side Rails # INXS150 2021 Volvo XC60 - Inno Aero Crossbars # INXB130-2 -...

  • Budget Friendly Aero Roof Rack for 2019 Subaru Forester With Raised Side Rails
The Inno roof rack you were referring to will absolutely fit your 2019 Subaru Forester and have the ability to handle a roof top tent. The rack will fit on your raised side rails and consists of just a couple parts: - Inno Aero Crossbars # INXB123-130 - Inno Through Feet for Aero Crossbars - Raised Side Rails # INXS150 Then for a rooftop tent, most just require the roof rack to have a 165 lb capacity - which the Inno does - and secure to rails. So this roof rack meets the qualifications...

  • Recommended Roof Rack Crossbar Options for 2017 Chevy Equinox With Factory Roof Side Rails
We can't have the family going hungry! Yakima and Thule do make a high quality product, but they do get every penny for it. Another brand name you might not be so familiar with is Inno. They are very well known on the west coast, but not necessarily in the rest of the country. Inno offers high quality roof roof rack components at a lower price than their main competitors. I'd recommend the Inno Aero Crossbar system, which would consist of the following parts: Inno Aero Crossbars, in black...
