Question:
Hello, quick question : if I understand correctly, these are rubber straps that attach to the roof bars. So someone could just use a sharp utility knife, cut the rubber, and walk away with the vault, right? Thanks a lot!!!!!

Good morning Philippe; hope your day is going well!
You are not wrong - the Thule RodVault Rooftop Fly Fishing Rod Carrier # TH34FR23YR could be removed from the crossbars by cutting the rubber straps. It's more or less to deter theft, but usually there is still a way to break it free from the roof unfortunately.
An option that may give you more peace of mind is the Trxstle CRC Rooftop Fly Fishing Pole Carrier # TRX99FR. This has a hard plastic clamp that is more difficult to cut through, and it still locks with a key on the rod box. I've attached a video that covers this model; let me know what you think!
What rods are you carrying?
