Expert Reply:
It’s surprisingly quiet, although any roof accessory will have some amount of noise. The RodVault’s (2 # TH34FR23YR and 4 # TH34FR55YR) have aluminum construction and low-profile reel box to help reduce wind noise, and it doesn’t flex or rattle when mounted tightly.
Our customer Devin says he didn’t even notice it above his Tacoma on a 10-hour drive to the Gulf. That said, adding a small fairing or shifting it rearward can further reduce wind noise if your bar spacing allows. If you let me know what roof rack you have, I can see if a wind guard / fairing can be used!
