Troubleshooting 2011 Jayco Jayflight Power Issues - Wall Outlets Work But AC and Lights Do Not

Updated 11/11/2024 | Published 10/20/2024

Question:

Hello, I have a 2011 Jayco Jayflight Travel Trailer on my property that I go to about once a month. sourced by shore power. All was working fine until a few weeks ago when I went to the trailer, I discovered an issue with the power. The wall plugs are all functioning properly, however, the A/C unit, the lights and the water pump will not come on. It seems they are not getting any power. I have checked multiple things - and unable to locate the source of this problem. it has a Progressive Dynamics, Inc Power Converter System PD4045K I have checked all fuses and they appear fine, Its on a remote piece of land and dont want to tow it in to service, if I can resolve on my own. It has never run on battery power, it has always been plugged in to shore power. Any insight is welcome on what I should check next or replace. Hunting season is upon us and Ill be up here regularly and need the power.

Hey Martin, thanks for reaching out. This sounds like an issue with your Progressive Dynamics PD4045K converter system. Since you are connected to shore power we would be looking at something on the AC side of the distribution panel. The fuses and breakers should be checked and the power and ground for the panel should be checked too. If all of those are good I would next check all of your wires and connections behind the panel. It could be a wire has come loose or shorted behind the panel. That would explain why all of this stuff just stopped working all at once. You can inspect for any disconnected or damaged wires or connectors. Use a circuit tester to see if certain wires are not getting power when they should. Checking wires with a tester is a great way to narrow things down. Please use caution if you are doing this while connected to power. If you are not familiar with working on electronics you may want to have a professional RV tech come take a look.

One thing you can try is see if you can run AC or water pump off of battery and see if that works. That will help narrow things down as well.

Try all this and let me know how it goes. I am here to help continue to troubleshoot if needed.

@JesseM Good morning I have another question I purchased a Coleman Mach 15 air unit for the rv #48004-069. Is it a direct bolt in or do I have to change inner housing? And do I need the heat coil? Or anything else Or just get a thermostat that has option for heat pump to run on electric or propane Thanks for your time Marty

@Martin Good morning, Martin. To replace your Coleman Mach 15 48004-069 I recommend the Furrion Chill HE Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Coleman Setup # FR42PV. This comes with a conversion kit that makes it directly compatible with your Coleman AC system. Meaning the inner housing, ceiling register and thermostat will stay in place. This unit is also available in black as part # FR32PV.
