Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Optibright LED strip light. This is a low-profile strip light that will mount on the surface of your RV. It is 18 inches long and two and three sixteenths of an inch tall, and only about one and one eighth of an inch thick, so it is gonna be very low-profile and it will produce a nice, bright white light for you. You can see there. So even if I turn off the lights in my studio, you can see this is gonna provide plenty of light.

So if you have this on the side of your RV, even if you're out enjoying the evening and you'll still be able to see what's going on around you. This does have a polished chrome housing that is going to provide a nice clean, stylish look to it. It will direct your light downward at a 45-degree angle. So when you have it mounted, it's not gonna be quite straight out, but pointed down, so it's gonna be most effective for you if you have it mounted in a high point on your RV. The housing and the lens unit are sealed, so it is going to be weather-resistant.

Now, keep in mind, that is not the same as waterproof, so you should mount this in an area that is going to be somewhat protected and it's not gonna be fully exposed to outdoor weather and that sort of thing. So it's probably gonna be best under an awning or a similar protected area. The lens itself is a durable, clear polycarbonate lens, and we are gonna have 18 white LEDs that provide that light, shines through the lens for us. Now, if you're not familiar with the benefits of LEDs, they are a great replacement for your older-style incandescent lights. They're gonna be a lot more efficient, so they're gonna provide brighter light with less power output.

So this is going to have an effective lumens output of 603 lumens, so it's gonna be very bright. It will also only draw about 0.3 amps on your 12-volt DC system, so lots of light without a whole lot of draw. That's one of the benefits of those LEDs. Another benefit is that they're a lot more durable than your older incandescent lights, so they don't have that brittle filament inside that so frequently breaks on those incandescent bulbs. And so these are gonna last about 50 times longer.

In fact, these have a lifetime warranty on the LED, so you can trust they're gonna hold up well, do a great job for you, provide that nice bright light, and still be very durable. This is a surface mount light. You can see they've got this foam gasket on the backside here that will allow it to fit snugly up against the surface of your RV. The hardware to get it installed is not included. You will have to provide that yourself, but it is very easy to get it installed. So you just use a small enough piece to push back into this, these sides here to disconnect the housing from the back plate. And then you can see, that back plate does have these two, three 16th-inch holes, and those are spaced about 11 and one eighth of an inch apart. So once you get that mounted up in place, it'd be very easy to get the rest of your light mounted as well. We obviously want to make sure that our wires are coming through that hole in the back. And then on the backside here, our mounting plate has these little divots, and then that lines up with these tabs, so we want to make sure that on the back side, those come over for backing plate. Let me remove that gasket for now, just so you can see. So the backing plate is gonna go inside that. And then, we just snap it on in place, and it's gonna stay and those holes are gonna be covered up so it's got a nice finished look to it. So overall, because it's gonna be a really great option if you're wanting to add or replace a light around your covered patio area for your RV, whether that's a rollout awning or just another covered area where there's gonna be a little bit of weather protection but it's still gonna provide plenty of light out there so that you can see at night.
