Pivoting Arms with Ratcheting Hooks

Thule T2 Pro X ratcheting wheel hooks

The T2 Pro X has ratcheting hooks that grab your bikes firmly by the front wheel, so it won't scratch or scuff the paint. To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the cradle, rotate the arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook. To unload your bike, press the gray button on the upright arm to release the ratcheting hook, and slide the hook up.

Sliding Rear Wheel Cradles

Thule T2 Pro X sliding wheel trays

The wheel trays have cradles with ratcheting straps to secure your rear wheel to the rack. The cradles slide along the tray to accommodate bikes with a variety of wheelbases. To secure your wheel, run the strap over the rim and back down through the strap buckle and pull tight. To remove your bike, press the quick-release button on the buckle and undo the strap.

Front-Mounted Handle for Easy Tilting and Folding

Thule T2 Pro X folding and tiliting designThule T2 Pro X cable locks

The rack tilts down with your bikes loaded. So, whether you're at the trail or the grocery store, you don't have to remove your bikes to access your cargo area. It also folds up when not in use. This leaves a smaller footprint, so you can keep the rack on your vehicle to park in your garage. And if you want to remove it, it doesn't take up as much space to store it.

Thule T2 Pro X folding and tiliting design

To make tilting and folding easier, the T2 Pro X's release lever is mounted on the front of the rack. This means you won't have to reach through or around your bikes with one hand to reach the lever, while supporting the rack's weight with the other, when lowering the rack. Instead, you'll be able to hold the rack with both hands the entire time.

Tool-Free Installation with Anti-Rattle Device

Thule T2 Pro X cable locksThule T2 Pro X lock

The rack quickly installs in your hitch receiver, without the need for tools. Just slide the shank into your hitch and turn the knob until snug. Turning the knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge in the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection. It also sets the integrated SnugTite hitch pin into place, securing the rack to your receiver.

Thule T2 Pro X reflectors

The lock on the hand knob secures the rack to your vehicle. Once locked, the hand knob will spin freely so a would-be thief can't operate it to remove the rack from your hitch. A cable lock (sold separately) can be used to secure your bikes to the rack. Thule One Key System locks (sold separately) let you make all your Thule products keyed alike.

See what our Experts say about this Thule Hitch Bike Racks

  • Weight Capacity of Thule T2 Bike Racks that Fit 1-1/4 inch Hitch
If you have the Thule T2 Classic Bike Rack part # TH9045 it has a weight capacity of 100 lbs total or 60 lbs as a single bike rack. The Thule T2 Pro X part # TH23GC has a weight capacity of 50 lbs per bike. Both of these racks are the versions that fit the 1-1/4 inch hitch size.

  • Availability of Add-On For Thule Pro X Bike Rack to Make it a 4 Bike Rack
Yes, we carry the part # TH55GC which is the add on for the Thule T2 Pro X part # TH23GC to make it a 4 bike rack. This now comes as a kit, part # TH26ZE. I attached a review video for this rack for you to check out as well.

  • What Does Thule T2 XTR Pro Trailer Hitch Weigh
The Thule T2 Pro XTR part # TH83JV weighs 52 lbs and is approved for use at the rear of a motorhome. It has 7 inches form the center of it's hitch pin hole to nearest portion of the rack so it should fit easily too. There is a 1-1/4 inch version of this rack too with the part # TH23GC.

  • Can 2 Bike Add-On Be Used With T2 Pro X for 1-1/4 Hitches?
The reason the 2 Bike Add-On # TH55GC is recommended only for the T2 Pro X for 2" Hitches # TH83GC is because of the differences between Class I, II, and III hitches. Class I 1-1/4" hitches can only hold up to 2 bikes. Not so much because of the weight capacity but more because of the angle and leverage issues of more than two bikes. The add-on is designed for the 2" version # TH83GC and not the 1-1/4" version # TH23GC to prevent people from accidentally loading their Class I hitch with...

  • Dual Hitch Adapter for Use with Thule T2 Bike Rack and Blue Ox Tow Bar
I would use a dual hitch adapter like the Roadmaster part # RM-077-8 even if your current setup is mostly level without a high low adapter. I'd run the adapter in the rise position so that the bike is 8 inches above the tow bar so that you'd have plenty of clearance between the rack and tow bar to prevent any clearance issues. If you are already using a high low adapter let me know how much rise/drop it has so I can pick out a dual hitch adapter with the same amount of rise/drop.

  • Recommended Hitch Mounted Platform Style Bike Carrier For 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
The Thule TH916 bike carrier has been discontinued and is no longer available, but we do have options for your 2 inch trailer hitch receiver. We offer the Thule T2 Pro X, part # TH23GC. This rack has the same styling as the older version but the color has been changed to black, and it no longer features the cable lock as you mentioned. It does have a Snug Tite hitch lock included to secure the bike rack to your Outback. The newer version of the T2 is the T2 PRo XTR, part # TH83JV. This...

  • Can a Kuat NV Bike Rack be Adapted to a 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver
The Kuat NV Bike Rack, # NV22G, can be adapted to a 2-1/2 inch trailer hitch receiver using a reducer sleeve like part # 58102. The Kuat NV has an anti-rattle shank that will eliminate movement in the reducer, but there are no anti-rattle devices for the reducer sleeve in the 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver. For a bike rack that would eliminate rattle in the sleeve and the trailer hitch, I recommend looking at the Thule T2 Pro X Bike Rack, # TH23GC. You would still need the reducer sleeve, but...
