Swagman Semi 2.0 2-Bike Carrier

The Semi 2.0 lets you carry 2 bikes on the back of your vehicle. It has padded, ratcheting hooks and long wheel cradles with sliding, ratcheting straps so you can carry 2 bikes regardless of size, frame design, or suspension or brake style. An integrated lever lets you tilt the rack down for cargo access or fold it up for storage, and its low loading height reduces the strain of mounting your bikes for transport. It also has a locking system that secures your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

Pivoting Upright Arms With Ratcheting Hooks

Padded Locking Hooks

The pivoting upright arms have ratcheting hooks that grab your bikes firmly by the front wheels - not the frames. These hooks allow you to rapidly load and unload your bikes, and they won't scratch or scuff your bike paint. Each arm has an integrated cable lock that secures the bikes to the rack.

Swagman Semi 4.0 2-Bike Carrier

You can fold down the upright arms when no bikes are on the rack for convenient access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Long Wheel Cradles with Sliding, Ratcheting Straps

Adjustable Wheel Trays

The extra-long rear cradles accommodate most bike lengths. Simply slide each strap to where the wheel meets the cradle then ratchet them tight to secure the bikes rear wheels to the rack. Each strap has an integrated chock that prevents the rear wheel from rotating while on the rack.

Convenient Cargo Area Access and Storage

Fold Forward

A spring-loaded lever in the base lets you tilt the rack - with bikes loaded - for access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Fold Up For Storage

When you're not carrying bikes you can use this same lever to fold the rack up against the rear of your vehicle.

Locking System

Threaded Locking Hitch Pin

Integrated locking cables inside the pivoting arms secure your bikes to the rack.

Threaded Locking Hitch Pin

The locking, threaded hitch pin secures the rack to your hitch receiver and also serves as an anti-wobble device to eliminate rattling in the receiver.

Video Transcript for Swagman Semi 2-Bike Platform Rack Review

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Swagman Semi 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches, part number S64686. I went ahead and brought Matt down here. He's the writer of this product, and he's also looked at some of the customers' questions and comments. So, Matt, what are the customers saying about this bike rack Matt: Well first and foremost, the customers are saying that they've had it for a year or more and that it's holding up really well. Speaker 1: Good. Matt: A number have customers have mentioned that the thin cable, although it is thin, they do like the fact that they can lock the bikes to the rack, and they love the fact that it just goes right inside the arm so they don't have to carry a separate bike lock that goes inside the car.

Okay. Matt: A lot of the customers are mentioning that they like the hook over the tire as opposed to locking on the frame. The customers with carbon fiber bike frames, they don't have to worry about them scratching the real nice frames, so it's just anchored here by the tire. Now, we have had a customer mention that he felt that the way the bike rack was set up, that the tire would end up blocking the taillight. Speaker 1: You know, and I saw that comment, too, and I was looking at it from this perspective here, where, you know, you're going right behind it. And I think that's gonna be kind of a car to car basis on how far the actual bike rack sits on your car depending on what style hitch you get, as well.

Matt: Sure. I don't think that's a major worry. Speaker 1: Okay. Well, thank you very much. Matt: YOu're welcome.

The Swagman Semi 2.0 is great for carrying a wide variety of bikes on the rear of your vehicle and it can carry up to two bikes. Right now we have a mountain bike, as well as a road bike installed, but this can also work with alternate frame bikes and some kids' bikes as well.Like with many platform style racks, this does have a tilting feature where you can tilt the bike rack away from the vehicle with both bikes attached to gain rear hatch access. There's a latch at the front. While holding onto the bike rack, lift it up, let the bikes come forward, and now we have full hatch access to get whatever we need and we have plenty of space on either side to do so.How the bikes are held into place will have two points of contact. We'll have a wheel hook up at the front here and a wheel strap at the rear.

With our wheel hook up at the front, that's how this is able to carry those wide variety of bikes that we talked about earlier. Because with some bike racks that have this hook that go around the frame itself, you may have to purchase after-market items such as bike adapter bars, which would be kind of a pain in the long run. Also, at the ends here we do have these integrated cable locks, which serve as a theft deterrent. And they do come with locks that are separate from the hitch lock, but we'll get to that later. Then with our rear wheel strap here, very easy to come off. It does come with a rim guard on it to help protect that, and it is adjustable back and forth to accommodate bikes of different sizes. I would also like to point out, with the wheel trays, you can't have tire sizes any wider than three inches. Also, you're gonna notice it does have a raised shank to it, so you're not gonna have an issue of clearance between the bike rack and the ground as you would with some other vehicles. Once all the bikes are removed, it also folds up against the vehicle for those close quarters situations such as parking or putting it in your garage. We also have a hitch lock up at the front here, and this is not gonna be key to like with your integrated cable lock. It comes with a dust cover to keep all the road, dirt, and grime out of the lock while you travel. And if you we're to lose this, it does come with an additional anti-rattle bolt and clip to attach this to your vehicle as well. Finally, it does have this collar around it, which once removed you can actually use this with 1-1/4" accessories as well, so this can be used with multiple vehicles. Now that we've gone over some of the features, let's go ahead and show you how it installs. You simply put it into the hitch and line up the pin holes, and then we'll install out anti-rattle bolt. You have two of these pins, just makes sure you use the longer of the two. We'll put it in, and then we'll tighten it down with our ratchet and 3/4" socket. We'll take the other end of our lock, push that into place. Close the cover. Next we'll fold our bike rack flat by coming to the front to this latch, lifting up, and folding it out. Next we'll fold out our wheel hooks all the way, and then we'll undo our wheel straps here. We'll push the top portion of the tab in and fold out.Next we'll load up our first bike, putting it in place and bringing up our hook. Then we'll make any adjustments for our rear straps, place them through and between the spokes and tighten those down as well, making sure our wheel guard is in place. And then we'll repeat this for our front bike. Our final step is to install our integrated cable lock. We'll first unfold our locking point, then pull out our cable. Then we'll wrap it through our frame, connect it back to that locking point, and now it's secure and we'll repeat this on the other side as well. Here it is on our test course. We'll start be going through the slalom, and this is gonna show us the side to side action, which simulated turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Next we're at the alternating speed bumps, which we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or pothole or driving over uneven pavement. And finally, we have the full speed bumps where we'll see the up and down action, which is just like driving out of a parking lot, garage, or driveway. And there you have it for the Swagman Semi 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches.

Arrived in the morning and by afternoon had it together and tested out on both of my cars, a minivan and Honda CRV. Well made and well designed bike rack. Even came with a hitch lock a heavy cable and the two lighter bike cable locks. Etrailer did a good job in communications with me. 356656

I was impressed by all of the product review videos that etrailer put together, so when I went to order the bike rack I selected, I ordered from etrailer because their price was the same as all other sites. The product arrived in a few days and fit the bill for me. It is very heavy duty and holds the bikes securely without banging against each other. I chose this one over the Thule because it had built in bike locks (extra $60 at Thule) and was somewhat cheaper than the Thule. I wish it was all aluminum so it would be lighter, but I think that is a whole step up into another category of bike racks price-wise. Disadvantages that are somewhat minor to me: 1) two separate keys for rack and bike, they should be the same key 2) You need a wrench to install and take the rack off of the hitch. My old Yakima rack just had a crank to tighten in the hitch. This makes it a little bit of a pain to move rack between my car, my truck, and the RV. 273742

We love the bike rack- easy to use- very sturdy- and great customer service- our initial rack had defective arm bars- they were stuck in place and we couldn't move them- as a result they became unuseable- we called customer service and they shipped us out two new arm bars that day- easy to replace- no problems since then- would recommend this rack- Clinton, ny 559915

So far it is great. Put it together without much difficulty although the instructions note that the crossbar sections are supposed to be labeled #1 and #2 and I'll be darned if I could find numbers anywhere. So easy to load and unload the bikes and love being able to open the rear hatch. A bit heavy and unwieldy to install on the car but I manage. Sturdy and well-made. 135635

I ordered the Swagman Semi 2.0 from etrailer.com on April 16, 2016. It was shipped on the 17th and was delivered to my California home on the 21st. Pretty good for free shipping! Thank you etrailer.com! Putting it together was simple using just an Allen wrench, which is supplied, and a socket set. I used the Semi 2.0 the very next day attaching my road bike to it. Could not be simpler. I know that this carrier holds very well as after my ride I was tired and made a mistake when securing my bike. When I attached the bike, I used the ratcheting arm to secure the front tire along with the locking cable but forgot to secure the rear tire with the ratcheting strap. To my relief, the bike made it home without incident. Of course, I don't recommend anyone intentionally doing something like this, but it made me realize what a great job this carrier does in securing your bike for transport should you make a mistake like I did. Another thing I wish to discuss is how this carrier is attached to the trailer hitch. It uses a locking hitch pin that is threaded on one end. I torqued the pin to 50 ft. lbs. as recommended and it absolutely does not rattle. Here's why I give this carrier five stars: 1. It is easy to assemble and load your bikes. 2. It has locking cables built into the ratcheting arms. Yeah, the cables are narrow but it still offers some deterrence to a thief looking for an easy way to take a bike. 3. It has a much heavier cable that can be used to wrap around the bike frame(s) and then secured to the locking hitch pin. 4. The carrier can be folded upright close to the vehicle so it doesn't stick out as far as when in use. 5. The price is less than that of other, similar carriers so I feel I got a good bang for the buck. 6. The build quality. About the only negative thing I can think of for this carrier is its weight. It is a bit heavy, but not a problem for me as I am able to lift it and I attach the carrier to my pickup truck which easily handles the weight. The weight of this carrier may be a consideration for others, though. All in all, great carrier and I would recommend it to anyone, especially those who have a bike made of carbon fiber, which I do. 246723

The Swagman Semi 2.0 has been a good purchase for me. Its a great carrier to take my bike to the local bike path and just recently I brought both of my bikes up to our getaway home in N. California which is a 500 mile trip. The Swagman Semi 2.0 did its job by carrying both bikes securely for the 8.25 hour trip. I did check the torque of the pin at about 200 miles just to be on the safe side. I have no regrets about this purchase.

PROS: (a) easy setup; (b) easy bike on-off; (c) adjustments for different size of bikes CONS: (a) bike are positioned so that the spokes block the tail-lights too much (even if it suppose to be legal, not willing to risk for times of low low-visibility); (b) after a few trips to local bike parks, the cam no longer keeps bikes 90 degrees with ground even though the bar from the trailer hitch to cam is level; the bikes lean about 3 degrees back away from rear of auto so bikes are tilted toward ground (concern that this tilt will become worse with use); (c) locks and cables for bikes can be easily compromised I am having to modify the rack for safety, security and stability. Bolts to trailer hitch of my 2016 Subaru fine but concerns with stability, safety, etc. Just my wife and my bikes (bikes weigh about 40 lbs). The cam not holding the bikes up is disappointing - there is allot of "play" when locked into any of the positions. I did much research and visited several bike shops and selected this unit because of reviews and features. However, I am not impressed with this unit for my case. I need to trust that I can make a long trip. I will just make the modifications and move on. 400246

The Swagman Semi 2.0 was chosen for its safe design to carry carbon fiber frame bikes. My wife has a new Cannondale we did not want to damage by using a rack that holds the bike by the frame. It was also chosen because its lighter weight will allow my wife to put the rack on herself. We are happy with these features. I am not happy that the rack shipped with 1.5 inch carriage bolts to hold the bike racks to the hitch member. They are too short. I had to find replacement 2 inch bolts to assemble the rack. Swagman service did not respond to my requests for help after leaving a voicemail. I am also not happy that the attached adapter for a 2 inch hitch bind inside the hitch on removal requiring a bit of a struggle to remove the hitch. Not a big deal but a simple beveling of the adapter would fix the problem and should already be done. Despite these criticisms, the rack is well built and fluent to use. I recommend it. 397358

I’m extremely satisfied with the Swagman Semi 2.0 rack that I purchased from etrailer. The service and follow up has been great as well. When I shopped for a rack I wanted one that I could use on the 2” receiver on a motor home and the 1 ¼” receiver on the vehicle I tow as well as my wife’s Suburu. This rack fits the bill. I appreciate the free shipping from etrailer which makes using them very price competitive. 512097

Product was very easy to assemble. There was a locking device added which was not in the instructions, but was easy to figure out. The locking device locked the tack to the hitch. We loaded our bikes and made a short trip to a trail. All went well. 680739

I have not tried it yet but it was very easy to put together and fit perfectly into my 1 1/4 inch receiver on my Rpod camper. It folds up nicely and is very sturdy on the camper once you cinch it down with the locking pin 646599

This was super easy to install on my Curt trailer that I also got from etrailer. I went with etrailer because you can actually talk to someone that knows what they are talking about. The sales person helped me make a good choice. 640819

First let me say the process of ordering this bike rack was phenomenal so easy no issues at all the communication by Etrailer nothing than first class I would not hesitate to place another order. The Swagman Semi 2 was shipped almost as soon as the order was completed it arrived on time and all the parts were in the box. It took me about 20 minutes to put it together and mounted on my truck. The bike locks are nice to have if you need to make a quick pit stop, anything longer I would still had better locks. Good luck 636613

Easy to put together. Like the individual built in bike locks. Like the mounting without touching the carbon frame. AAA+++ 635198

I really appreciated all the detailed info, reviews, & comparisons. This is my first hitch rack, so I did a lot of research & comparing. I have only used it once, but so far it is all I hoped & more. My son is even able to load & unload this rack. That is a definite plus of not having the static center post. Will definitely recommend eTrailer. 614065

Excellent customer service, priceless over-the-phone reviews of different bike rack options, eventually picked what was the best option. We have an Arctic Fox truck camper in our truck bed and I wanted the bike rack to be attached to the front of the truck using a front hitch receiver that I installed on our Chevy truck (I don’t understand why more people don’t carry their bikes this way!). Have now travelled over 5000 mi throughout the western US with our 2 mountain bikes secured onto this front bike carrier. Concerns were: would the bikes obstruct the view of the driver, would the bikes ride securely over some rough roads, would the bug splatter be a big issue and would driving at night be a problem? Answers: if we lower the bike seat(s) I have absolutely no visibility issues (I almost forget the bikes are there); the bikes ride very well on this rack with no worries re bounciness or instability; the bugs are a bit of an issue but my wife has never complained about it and it doesn’t bother me (you can hose off the bikes occasionally if you like); we have only driven at night once and I’ll try not to do that again due to some decreased visibility (bikes partially obstruct the headlights) and reflective glare from the bikes. But I could not be happier with the set up. Had an issue with 1 of the swing arms shortly after I assembled the rack (possibly operator error) and they immediately sent a replacement arm with no questions asked (which was no small item). I was extremely happy with their response to the issue and everything has been great since then. Can’t wait to back out on the road this spring. 607840

Instructions were not clear. Better diagrams would help.marking pieces to identify them. Also I found it easier to assemble by putting in hitch & then assemble the rest. 492664

The rack performs well for the price. There are some performance issues that are getting more severe after 1 year. 1. Front wheel retention arm is difficult to adjust at times. The release lever seems to stick and is difficult to move. 2. Locks are easily corroded. After the first winter, we've had to spend a lot of time removing corrosion from steel lock. One lock is still seized at the moment. We use this rack 2-3 times a week. 492079

Excellent well made hitch bike rack. The first time I used it I left one of the tire straps loose, it dragged on the ground and messed up the buckle. I emailed them, told them I messed up and they sent a new one. They didn't ask for a charge they just sent it. I will buy another rack from them when I need it. 485416

This is a great bike rack, the best of many I've used. It is strong and durable, will undoubtedly outlast our SUVs. I love the way it protects our carbon fiber bikes by not putting pressure on the frames. We'll be using it on our frequent trips for rides along the central California coast. And the people at etrailer and swagman are great to work with. Available, supportive and ready to quickly address any issue. I've bought hitches from etrailer as well, they are excellent, and will be using the bike rack with them. I live out in the country so buy most stuff online. So important to know about companies I can confidently buy from. 484714

I've had this a year and it has worked great so far, i use this on my Mazda cx3. and there is enough clearance that you can open the tailgate even when its folded in the upright position which is nice. it has two downsides but there not a huge deal. 1 it partially blocks the view of the backup camera on my car. the camera is still useable but its a little distracting looking through the bike rack. 2 the built in bike locks are very stiff to turn and are prone to rusting. other than that all the plastic pieces have held up and it transports my bikes very well. 473864

I Love this bike rack, its easy to use and keeps the bikes steay with no sway! I love the integrated bike locks so its one less thing to worry about. I had an issue with the first one i purchased thru etrailer and within a week etrailer.com shipped me a new one without any issues or hassles. this is the second purchase i had made with etrailer and this is a great company to work with! thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 435582

Love this bike rack and it's a great price. a few recommendations to the vendor, place little alpha stickers like an "A" for the major components to help in assembly. Second, use stainless steal hardware like bolts and nuts. Hardware provided is soft metal and easily stripped. 378607

Product was back-ordered. etrailer staff communicated status quickly and suggested alternative products that were in stock. The carrier shipped on the projected day. It was easy to assemble and install on my GMC Acadia. It provides a stable ride for 2 bikes and I like the product features. One surprise, the rack is heavy. 341294

Customer service and communication was excellent from etrailer staff.! Received product in good shape, but somewhat disappointed with the fit and form of the rack while I put it together. The parts were hard to put together due to tolerances created with powder coating on some parts. I got it together, but some parts were more difficult to assemble than others. 295225

The product is excellent, fits on my 2007 Chevy Impala like a dream and can't wait to get out tomorrow and use it taking my bike to the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes! Was fairly easy for this 67 yo woman to put it together (needed help once) and then I did need a little assistance getting it on the car ... but I think I have it all figured out now and it should go better next time .. 280190

Ask the Experts about this Swagman Hitch Bike Racks

Do you have a question about this Hitch Bike Rack?

  • Why is the Tilting/Folding Activation Different Between the Swagman Semi 2.0 and 4.0
  • The names for the Swagman Semi can be a little confusing in that we tend to think that 4.0 would be an upgrade to 2.0. In the case of this bike rack, that number has to do with how many bikes it can potentially carry. The 2.0 # S64686 can carry up to 2 bikes that weigh 45 lbs each while the 4.0 # S64698 can potentially carry 4 bikes that weigh 45 lbs each with the add-on # S64699. The 4 bike version of the 4.0 is available as one part number with part # S64698-99 on our site. Since...

  • Comparison Of Swagman Platform Racks With Chinook VS. G10 VS. Semi 2.0
  • The Swagman brand is a good alternative to Thule if you are looking to save money without compromising on the quality of the product. The Swagman bike racks like the Chinook # S64683, G10 # S64682, and Semi 2.0 # S64686, are all very good racks that are compatible with both the 1-1/4 inch receiver on your 2014 Mazda 3 hatchback and your 2014 Ram 1500 with 2 inch receiver. Any of them can be used with a hybrid bike and full suspension mountain bike. They all use a hook to secure the...

  • Recommended Bike Rack For 2018 Subaru Crosstrek with Spoiler
  • I'm assuming the photo attached is your Crosstrek and because of the spoiler, I recommend the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 2 Bike Carrier # HRF2. This is specifically made for vehicles like yours to avoid contact and damage to a spoiler. This is a very versatile and adjustable bike rack to meet your needs. I do recommend the Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar for Women's, Children's, and Alternative Frame Bikes # 64005 as well as the Softride # SR18679 to secure your front wheel to...

  • Recommended Hitch Mounted Bike Rack With Rear Bumper Clearance on a 2017 Chevy Cruze LT
  • With the Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24943, you have 5 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the farthest part of the bumper. The Thule DoubleTrack Pro 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # TH9054 has a measurement of 6-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of rack when folded down, so that wouldn't be an issue, however when folded up, the closest part is 5 inches so it would touch your bumper and rub. For a rack better...

The Escapee part # S64693 that you referenced is not rated for use at the rear of a motorhome where it's rougher so it would not be what you'd want.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a Bike Rack on a 2016 Mazda 6
  • Since you will be using the trailer hitch for a bike rack I recommend Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24908. The reason is that the Curt hitch # C11356 requires the use of a stabilization strap, # 18050, when using the hitch for anything other than a trailer (in this case a bike rack) per Curt's warranty requirements. Draw-Tite does not have that requirement. With the Draw-Tite hitch installed the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole back to clear the rear of the vehicle is 6-1/4...

Most install so that there is about 5-inches of space from the hitch pin hole to the rear edge of the bumper cover. The Swagman G10 2-Bike Platform Rack # S64682 also has 5-inches of clearance when it is empty and folded up so this rack may touch the bumper cover. It is a confirmed fit for your Subaru. Swagman actually redesigned the Semi 2.0 # S64686 bike rack, so you are correct that the center of the pin hole distance to the closest part of the rack is 5-1/2 inches per the etrailer.com YouTube video you watched. • Comparison of Thule T2 Bike Rack and Swagman Semi 2.0
  • The Thule T2 Bike Rack part # TH9045 and the Swagman Semi 2.0 # S64686 are very similar. Both only contact the bikes loaded on them by the wheel and both are platform racks. The biggest difference is that the Semi is a little bit lighter in weight and comes with the ability to be used in either a 1-1/4 inch or 2 inch hitch. Either would work well but I would recommend the Swagman as it is lighter, works on both hitch sizes, comes with hitch locks, and costs less. I attached a couple...

  • We have not yet tested the Swagman Semi 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack part # S64686 on a 2017 Toyota Tacoma but I can tell from looking at the tilting feature that it would more than likely not allow for the tailgate to be folded all the way down. In order to fold the tailgate down on your Tacoma with the Semi 2.0 installed you would need to use a hitch extender like part # MT70024 but this will reduce your hitch's overall capacity by 50%. • Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2017 Subaru Outback with Factory 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch
  • If the trailer hitch on your 2017 Subaru Outback is the factory hitch then that limits your bike rack options. The issue is that the hitch pin hole on the Subaru hitch is much to close to the receiver opening to use most bike racks safely; especially platform racks that are heavier than hanging racks. The best bike rack option that will work with that hitch is the BikeWing # B01311 which does hold the bikes by the wheels. The other option, provided the factory hitch is not welded on,...

The T2 Classic and the Swagman Semi 2.0 # S64686 are very similar racks but I give the advantage to the T2 Classic for price and versatility. • Bike Rack Recommendation for a Carbon Fiber Bike Without Damaging the Frame
  • The best option for a hitch mounted bike rack for your carbon fiber frame bike would be to use a wheel mount bike rack. For your carbon fiber bike I recommend the Swagman Semi # S64686. Using this bike carrier will eliminate any hook placement or securing device from contacting the frame of your bike. The HoldUp # Y02443 is similar to the Swagman you asked about in that it fits 2 inch hitches, uses ratcheting hooks on the arms to hold your bikes by the wheels so there is no frame contact and can be tilted down for access to your rear cargo area as well as folded...

The Curt hitch receiver has roughly the same specs, but Curt's hitch receiver # C11356 requires a stabilizing strap under their warranty for bike racks and cargo carriers, # 18050, that most people don't like. The Swagman uses the nicest bike attachment style of all bike racks. It only touches the bike at the tires. This is great for carbon framed bikes or ones that have expensive finishes that you do not want to damage. This rack also comes with an anti-rattle device, and hitch and bike locks. The NV2 isn't a terrible bike rack by any means, but it...

The Kuat Transfer # TS02G measures 7-1/2 inches from the pin hole to the closest part of the rack when folded down and 5 inches when folded up. The Saris Freedom bike rack # SA4412B measures 12 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest wheel tray.
