Padded, Ratcheting Hooks

Padded Locking Hooks

The Current's mast has a pair of ratcheting hooks that hold your bikes securely by the top tube. And because they move independently, you can carry bikes of different shapes and sizes. The hooks have soft padding that won't scratch or scuff your bike's paint.

Extra-Wide, Sliding Wheel Cradles

Adjustable Wheel Trays

The extra-wide cradles hold fat bike tires up to 5" wide. They also slide to accommodate bikes with different wheelbases. Hand knobs let you release the cradles to slide along the bike tray and adjust for your specific bike lengths. Each cradle has a ratcheting strap so you can secure your bikes' wheels during transport.

Tilting and Folding Design

Threaded Locking Hitch PinThreaded Locking Hitch Pin

A spring-loaded release lever in the base of the rack lets you tilt the rack down with bikes loaded for cargo area access. You can also use that same lever to fold the rack up against your vehicle for storage. A second spring-loaded release lever lets you fold the mast down so you can fold the rack up.

Complete Security

Threaded Locking Hitch PinThreaded Locking Hitch Pin

The ratcheting hooks have lock cores in the release buttons so you can secure your bikes to the rack. Simply slide the hooks over your bikes' top tubes until they click and lock them in place. There is also a keyed-alike locking hitch pin that secures the rack to your vehicle.

Removable Adapter Sleeve

Adapter Sleeve

The rack has a removable aluminum sleeve that lets you convert the rack for use in 1-1/4" hitches.

Coming from a Kuat bike rack made out of aluminum this thing is built like a tank. I needed the extra weight capacity of the Swagman for carrying two electric bikes from the Electric Bike company in Newport Beach, CA. The Electric Bike Company also recommended the Swagman for transporting their beach cruisers, since the Swagman secures the bikes by the upper frame rail of the bike and not from the tires like so many other racks. The EBC bikes have fenders and steel baskets, which make a rack that secures bikes by their tires unusable. The Swagman came packaged with zero damage, and went together in a matter of minutes. I put it on my truck to pre-test it out with our two bikes, and to get the bike tire holders properly spaced and tightened down. Our bikes each weigh 53lbs. and this particular Swagman has a max rating for 60lbs. per bike. The Swagman comes with a cable to lock your bikes, a locking receiver pin, and the arm that secures the bikes is lockable. So far, I'm really liking this rack, based upon the quality, security, and price.

I have two Lectric Ebikes. This my second attempt to find a bike ramp to carry both bikes. Finally success. Holds and safely secures both. Solid construction. Fits on my 2" truck hitch and the 1-1/4" trailer hitch. Very pleased. See my photos.

Exactly what we were looking for. Tried two other racks from another company and returned both. Price is outstanding for the rack you get. Easy to assemble, easy to adjust to individual bikes, easy to load bikes with the center support in the down position. Holds bikes very securely and no worry of shifting in transport. Would definitely recommend.

assembly straightforward and quality construction. Heavy duty materials and fit to rv and Jeep wrangler rubicon recon was good, allowing good clearance of unit and bikes between Wrangler spare tire and brake light. Holds two bikes, one is an e bike, with good room between. Some wobble at point of holding hooks and frames but segment of pool noodle attached to bike frame cross bars secured them and eliminated slight loose fit at those points. This unit has to be American made judging from the workmanship and quality of materials. Theresa, in customer service and orders, provided all the prepurchase information I needed and was very good at followups. I recommend using this company.

Service was great! I could not believe how quickly I received the bike rack. Assembly was easy and we have used it daily since receiving about a week ago. The rack seems to be very robust and sturdy. I feel confident in driving down the road with our Lectric E-bikes mounted on the back of my truck.

Very happy with this product. Solid great quality. My e-bike is on securely and I have no concerns for it when I am going down the highway or bumpy back roads. I love the hitch pin and cable. Not only does it take care of any wobbling, it gives me the added peace of mind to leave my bike unattended. Special thanks to Geoffrey who took the time to figure out which rack would fit my Jeep Wrangler (with tire and camera). I was going to buy a different one but thanks to the right questions he asked and patiently waiting while I went out to take measurements, he figured out that one would not fit. But he did figure out the Swagman would. He assured me it was a good quality one, despite being about 40% less in price. He was absolutely right! Thank you Geoffrey for knowing your products so well! Without your assistance I would have ordered the wrong one at a much higher price and had to go through the headache of sending it back.

Received the Swagman Current for use with two E-Bikes on the back of a 22 foot Sprinter RV chassis. The hitch was very easy to put together...took about 30 minutes. This is a solid bike rack. Mounted the bike rack onto the Sprinter using the locking hitch bolt. The only movement from the hitch is with the pivot mechanism, which isn’t too bad. Ran into three problems right off the bat. I was hoping the tilt mechanism would allow rear door access.....it does not. Second problem is with the close proximity of the inner bike to the rear window. Shake the bike hard enough vertically and it will bang the glass. Resting position is about 4 inches from the window. The hitch tilts up an inch or two which makes this possible. Third problem is with the lock down hooks. The E-Bikes are step through type so the hook pushes down on an angle. It works but is not desirable. Unfortunately, the long hook won’t disengage after locking down. Have to release the wheel straps and release all pressure on the hook in order to slide it up. Solution to problems one and two is a swing out extender....on order now. Solution to the third problem are adapter bars.....also on order. Total investment to make this works is around $850. I’ll have to update once the additional parts arrive.....fingers crossed ; )

I love riding bikes and purchased my previous bike rack from etrailer and it's still in great condition and serves to carry my mountain bike, hybrid bike, or the wife's bike. But I recently purchased a fat tire Himiway bike and was looking for a quality bike rack to safely transport my heavier and more expensive 60 lb. E-bike but also not cause any harm to my bike's paint finish or wheels. Again etrailer provided the in depth information, reviews, and videos so I could make a sound decision when I purchased this rack. It just arrived this weekend. I assembled it upon arrival (easy) and put it right to work by taking that E-Bike for a ride. Had an awesome time. The bike rack quality is great, just as advertised. The price is fair too for the materials used and the quality. Thank you again etrailer.

Great rack and I was able to assemble by myself in about 90 minutes. Tested the rack out and it was very sturdy and well made. I am in my 60’s and was able to lift and load without a problem.

The product is great. It's sturdy and not hard to put together. Fits nicely in the hitch on the back of our Rav4 (see pic). We have two e-bikes and they both fit easily on the rack, which will be useful when we go to bike trails that are further away from us.

I bought the Swagman Current for my Trek Verve 2 low step ebike and my husband’s regular bike. The rack is very sturdy and easy to assemble. I found a great video that walked us through the assembly. I also bought the Swagman crossbar adapter since my bike is a low step. The bikes are very secure in the rack and not much wobble even when going over bumps. We installed it on our 2015 Ford Explorer 2inch hitch. etrailer was very easy to deal with and kept me informed on the status of my order. I would definitely recommend this bike rack for ebikes.

Great service.Ordered this Swagman hitch on Sunday and received it in 4days. Took me about one hour to put it all together, put two ENikes on.Really pleased with the service and hitch.

- S64678
by:

I have two electric bikes with fenders so I needed a bike platform that was both strong and did not interfere with the fenders. After thorough research I chose the Swagman Current as the best value for my needs. I have a mountain bike and a step through (Buzz Bike) so I reversed the order of the locking arms and that works great (the instructions do mention this as an option). I mount this on the back of a Subaru Tribeca and have no problems clearing the tailgate with the mountain bike secured to the inside. Both of my bikes ride secure. The Buzz bike has 3" wide tires and the mountain bike has 1 3/4" tires, both rest securely in the cradles. The cradles will accept a wider tire and are also shaped for narrower road bike tires. My bikes do not rube against each other and the locking arms are well padded.

- S64678
by:

Great platform rack for our two Trek eBikes! Very sturdy and secure. One significant issue: We have a "low step" and a regular bike... the low-step must be loaded first (closer to the car) in order to allow the ratcheting hook for the low-step to be lowest on the upright arm. The regular bike can then be loaded on the rearmost position. Unfortunately, the long ratcheting hook must be used on the front bike, and the short hook on the rear bike; but the long hook will not clamp down on the very low low-step crossbar. I had to disassemble the hooks and swap the short and long hooks on the front and rear ratchet bases in order to get the whole assembly to work. There should be some discussion of this process included in the installation and set-up instructions.

Just received so we haven’t driven with it yet but assembly was straightforward and seems to be very high quality. Feel confident that this will support our fat tire ebikes on the back of our 25 ft class C motorhome.

This is a beast, easily handles both ebikes, and is even strong enough to go on the back of our motor home! Can accept road tire bikes, mountain bikes, and even our fat tire ebikes without having to buy extra accessories to do so! Greg was very helpful, he had a couple options but thought this would be the best rack for us, and he was correct! Fast shipping as well, I couldn’t be happier with my experience!

Great Product! Will work with with probably any bike and is well made and very simple to assemble. Will be used to carry two e-bikes on a class C motorhome. Etrailer is a great company to to do business with.

- S64678
by:

Excellent product. Very well built and an innovative design. Installed it on my class C motor home for two E bikes with no problem. I put it together in my garage but it would have been a bit easier if I would have connected it to the RV first and then assembled it. My two E bikes each weigh 60 lbs each and I see no problems with this rack handling the weight. One of the E bikes is a step thru and I had to put the lower hook the opposite way the directions said. I also added a bit of cushioning to make a tighter fit. Again, excellent product. I highly recommend.

The bike rack arrived when it was supposed to and the assembly was pretty straight forward. Wasn't able to actually try out the rack for about a week as the weather here wasn't cooperating. We were finally able to take our ebikes to a trail about 15 miles from our home and it preformed well. It's definitely easier to load the heavier ebikes with two people but with a little caution one person can load the bikes. I really like the locking clamps as well as the lock for the hitch insert. Overall quality of construction seems very good and the heavy ebikes rode well with very little swaying around when transporting. One thing I might mention. Our two ebikes are a step through design and I had read on etrailer the answer to a question regarding concerns that the longer clamp might not catch the frame well. In the response to the question one solution that was offered was to buy spare set of clamps and simply use the two shorter ones. I ordered the extra set and it didn't take long to realize that this wouldn't work because the two short clamps can't occupy the same space on the shaft they slide onto and the shorter clamp is configured to slide down the locking bar on only one side so this is not a viable solution. Fortunately, I was able to make the long and short clamp work on our step through ebikes as there is a cross arm just high enough up the frame to catch with the longer clamp. I debated about sending the extra clamps back but decided they weren't that expensive and it would give us a spare set if we needed them. Overall, a very good product and as usual, great service and information from etrailer.

I like the item ebike rack but took about 3 months. Covid is the cause. Etrailer was ok with keeping me in the loop.

- S64678
by:

Rack appears to be high quality, well designed, well built, sturdy and has a streamlined appearance on our 2018 Jeep Cherokee. Assembly took about an hour, was straightforward, a little awkwardness but not too difficult and certainly within the strength and physical capability of this 70 year old. Only minor issue was that the parts list didn't include the two brackets to mount the cross bars and I didn't notice their mention in the assembly instructions. When I was finished and saw them left over I went back through the instructions and then detached and reinstalled the cross bars with the brackets. This wasn't a huge deal. Loading and fastening our bikes (two heavy EBikes) on the rack is pretty simple and easy. They also appear to be quite stable and secure. Although I haven't taken them on a trip as yet. One thing worth noting is that the rack is a little too heavy and unwieldy for my wife to fold down and back up, even without the bikes loaded, for tailgate access. So, I will be detaching it from the trailer hitch when not using it. Fortunately, detaching it from and re-attaching it to the hitch is fairly easy. I would rate this rack as a fine product, good value and the etrailer purchasing and customer service communication experience was outstanding.

First, I was very impressed with the shipping. I ordered this on Monday and with std. delivery it was in Northern California by Friday. Second, the rack is beefy, heavy and solid. It folds up well, it locks the bicycles in place and I like the security cable so it's one less thing to carry. I mounted this on the rear of a motorhome.

  • Solution for Needing Additional Short Hook with Swagman Current E-Bike Rack
Swagman still does not offer the long and short hooks of the part # SP428 separately so if you wanted to get a short hook for a step through frame for the Swagman Current # S64678 you'd need the set of both. Or you could go with a bike frame adapter bar like part # UB01 instead which attaches to the seat post and steering stem which the long hook can grab.

Yes the Swagman Current # S64678 will fit your 2" hitch on the back of your motorhome. I have used both of these bike racks and they are very similar but I like the current better than the E Spec # S94FR. The Current is a very sturdy rack but still easy to use. Being able to carry Fat Tire Bikes and E-Bikes on your car or RV with one bike rack makes this extremely versatile. The weight capacity is lower at 60 lbs but removing the batteries will help you get below the weight capacity. It...

  • Recommended Bike Rack For Carrying Two Electric Bikes With Fenders With 2016 Ford F-150
Absolutely! For your 2016 Ford F-150 I recommend the Swagman Current 2 Bike Platform Rack # S64678 is made to fit either 1 1/4" or 2" trailer hitch receivers. The Current # S64678 has 60lb per bike weight capacity, and will accommodate tires up to 5" wide. The Frame mount design of the Current # S64678 will work with the fenders on your Pedego Electric Bike's, and the Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar # 64005 will be required due to the step through frame on your bike's for the...

  • Best Bike Rack Set Up For Women's Electric Bike
I highly recommend the Swagman Current # S64678 because it can handle the weight of electric bikes unlike the Swagman XTC TILT # S64671. The Swagman Current tilts, can carry one or two bikes and will work with women's bikes if you use an adapter bar # 64005. This is the most cost effective way of getting your bikes to and from your destination safely. I've included a video of me personally using the Swagman Current, check it out to see how it works!

The arms of the Swagman Current 2 Bike Platform Rack # S64678 that you referenced will go down far enough easily to fit both the American Flyer E-Wave and the Evo City Commuter you have. The wheelbase between range for this rack easily fits with the bikes as well. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Carrying Single Bike on Swagman S64678 Current Bike Rack
If you're carrying a single bike, it's recommended that it be carried closest to the rear of the vehicle, which is also where you'd want to place the heaviest bike when you're carrying two bikes. If need be, you can always swap the position of the hooks in order to make your step through framed bike fit better. I've linked you to a product demonstration video featuring the Swagman # S64678 Current bike rack.

  • Compatibility of Swagman Current Bike Rack with Ride1Up 700 Series Rack
For your 2019 Toyota RAV4 and Ride1Up 700 series electric bike, the Swagman Current 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting # S64678 is a fit if you remove the battery for travel. The bike based on my research is 62 lbs and the max individual bike weight for the carrier is 60 lbs. You will not need any adapters with this bike rack. If you want a bike rack that will allow for the battery to remain installed, the Thule EasyFold XT 2 E-Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2"...

  • Will the Swagman Current Work on my 2018 Subaru Outback
The Swagman Current 2 Bike Platform Rack part # S64678 has a distance from the center of the pin hole to the closest part of the rack when in the folded position is 5 3/4". By design when installed there is no movement or play in the rack meaning if you have 5" of room it will clear the back bumper by 3/4" which will work well. We have not had a chance yet to test fit it on a 2018 Subaru Outback but if you confirm the center of your pin hole is in fact 5" from the furthest out portion...
