Specs:
The Freedom gives you the liberty to rapidly load and safely transport 4 fat bikes on your vehicle's 1-1/4" or 2" hitch. This easy-to-use, platform-style rack is loaded with features, including wheel trays that are specifically designed for fat bike tires, cradles and straps that grip your bikes by their frames, and a conveniently located lever that lets you tilt the rack down by yourself without having to unload your bikes.
You'll sleep tight knowing that your bikes are lovingly cradled in Saris' patent-pending Cuscinos - or pillows. These pillows are built into the ratcheting straps that hold your bikes by the downtubes, top tubes, or seat posts in the rubber-lined cradles. These straps are specially designed to avoid scratching or scuffing your bike paint during transport. The rubber-lined cradles also have grooves that accommodate brake lines and cables.
The cradles pivot and slide up and down the central masts. This allows the rack to grab your bike's tube at the perfect angle. Plastic twist knobs secure the cradles in place.
The injection-molded plastic wheel trays are larger and deeper than standard cradles and will hold tires up to 5" wide. The trays slide along the rack's horizontal arms to accommodate bikes with different wheelbases. These trays secure in place with plastic twist knobs. Extra-long, ratcheting plastic straps secure your bicycle's fat wheels to the trays.
Standard cradles are also included so that you can carry 2 standard bikes, 1 standard bike and 1 fat bike, or 2 fat bikes - all with one rack.
You can tilt the rack down and fold the rack up with a front-mounted push lever.
You can tilt the rack down with bikes loaded or unloaded to access your vehicle's rear cargo area. Just pull out the threaded bail pin located at the base of the rack, push down on the lever, and lower the rack until it clicks into place. This should provide enough clearance for the hatch to fully open and close.
You can also fold down the upright masts for access to you cargo area when no bikes are loaded. Simply pull the integrated levers and fold the masts down to the left or right.
You can fold the rack up against the back of your vehicle with it's not in use. Just fold down the masts, press the front-mounted lever, and raise the rack up until it clicks into place.
The included threaded hitch pin helps to prevent the rack from moving and rattling around in your vehicle's hitch receiver. An anti-rattle hitch lock (SA3022 - sold separately) is recommended to deter theft of the rack.
You can thread a cable lock (SA981 - sold separately) through the hole in the base of the rack and through your bike frames to secure your bikes to the rack.

I had to put my electric bikes into this rack, backwards, to make them fit. Not ideal, but it works. The receiving 'trays' that are intended to provide support for holding the bikes, by being placed under the bike tires, are forced to be moved to a location that is not directly under the bottom of the bike tires. While it works in this manner, it is not ideal. For the support that attaches to the diagonal bike frame, we had to remove it from the vertical rail of the rack. We reinstalled it, upside down, because that's the only way we could make it fit, or 'grab', the bike frame. Again, we made it work, but it's not ideal. We chose to keep the rack because it was so much less expensive than the Thule rack we considered buying. The bike shop owner didn't agree with us. He observed that we are putting $3000 worth of bikes on the rack and risking that investment. So far, no problems, other than the ill-fitting installation.

Perfect, works on my e-bikes even with 3-inch tires, just I have to use longer straps. Love it.

WOW WOW WOW That is what I just kept saying after installing this Saris bike rack. I have been looking for a bike rack for almost 3-4 months now. Thule and Yakima didn't have what I was looking for. Their solution for a 4-5 bike rack is too complicated, not efficient, and it would be a nightmare to manage on a regular basis. So I couldn't get myself to pull a trigger on any of those and I kept searching. Finally, I came to eTrailer and found out about Saris. That is where the love starts :) We are a family of 5 (3 kids and 2 grown-ups). I needed something that will help me load bikes fast, unload them and still be able to have access to the back of my Toyota Sequoia. Saris delivered in every way. Assemble of the item is straight forward. Instructions are clear and to the point. They even give you a yellow strip that helps you mark where the hitch needs to be in order to align hole openings for easier installation after you install it the first time ;) The back-up camera is still usable but not 100%. Tilting down the rack with the bikes on it is simple as 1-2-3. There is plenty of room left between the trunk door and the bike as you can see on the pictures. One HUGE benefit is that you do not need any extra parts for kids bikes. Not like with other brands. Saris delivers tremendously on this part too. No shaking, rattling, or anything that would make you notice that you have this amazing product on the back of your SUV/truck. I can't recommend it more. I am just surprised that this product has not been more advertised and represented compared to other products.

This is a great, high capacity rack (120 lb!) for bikes with compatible frames. But it is a little fiddly to adjust to fit the bike, and it's not great for long-wheelbase MTBs. My Santa Cruz 5010 fits, but it's off center to the rear of the bike and the downtube strap is just barely long enough to get around the bulky carbon frame. My Specialized Roubaix road bike, my wife's Liv Sedona and my old Trek 930 all fit great. Since I originally bought the rack to carry the Trek and Liv, I can't complain. Unlike some tray racks, this one will carry bikes that have fenders, since there are no top-of-wheel clamps. But also unlike those tray racks, the bike must have a down tube that fits in the center holder. Once it's in there, it's very solid. We rented an RV for a vacation, and wanted to take our bikes. This rack is NOT RV-rated, but during COVID, I couldn't get an RV-rated rack in time for trip, so I put the 2" adapter on this and used it. The Trek and Liv combined are only about 70 lbs, well under the 120 lb rating, and this rack does not have a tip-up-or-down hinge, which seems to be where racks tend to break when used on RVs. We did 1800 miles, often on quite bumpy roads, in a 24-foot Class C motorhome, and the rack was dead solid and exhibited no signs of damage or metal fatigue. Unlike some racks, this rack does not have a hinge so you can flip it up against the back of the vehicle while not in use (although the center post does fold down sideways against the main crossbar for storage). As noted above, that makes it stronger. It also makes it lighter. I install and remove the rack for every use, and it's easy to carry, much more so than my daughter's rack that does have the flip-up-or-down hinge and top-of-wheel clamps.

Excellent product. Very easy to put together. Just bought 2 new ebikes. Because they have fenders this is the perfect carrier.

The Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 2 bikes was recommended to me from etrailer based on my question about needing a crossbar to haul my bike and my wifes. I did not need the cross bar and went ahead and ordered the Freedom. There was a very fast turnaround for shipping to me. i just installed it and took the two bikes for a test run. so far so good. the product seems very sturdy and didnt take very long to assemble. Thanks to etrailor i am very satisfied with the entire purchase!

I use the Saris Freedom rack (along with the Curt stabilizing strap)regularly for transporting my 45 lb. e-bike. Solid product. Good value. Pros: Light weight and easy, quick one-person install/Fits 1.25" hitch as well as 2"/Anti-rattle built in/Center mast and clamp design works well for bikes w/ fenders and for step-thru and mid-step bikes. Cons (not so much "cons" as "considerations"): First loaded bike must be lifted over center mast so may be difficult depending on bike weight and user strength (This is the one potential deal-breaker so I suggest checking out one of the etrailer videos to see how this works and simulating the process with your bike before you choose.)/Takes a few minutes to position and lock the center clamp and wheel trays for a specific bike (This is a one-time process for each bike that helps ensure a really good grab and virtually eliminates movement, but if you're regularly transporting different bikes and having to frequently reconfigure the clamp and trays it may not work for you.)/No fold-up option so may not be suitable for parking or garaging in tight spots when installed or storing in limited space when off the vehicle. (Since I typically transport only one bike, I leave the "outside" wheel trays uninstalled, reducing overall length by 5" and preventing any damage.)

This product works very well for the type of bikes we got (Electra Townie men’s and woman’s). Not the best rack for the type of vehicle (2013 Jeep Wrangler). Unable to open back hatch to let dog out until the bikes are off the rack. First trip was 600 miles with bikes in tow and didn’t even know they were there. I love the fact that this is a American made product. I am happy with my purchase. Thanks to the support staff at etrailer it was a great experience

Although I have net transported bikes yet ( picking up 2 bikes later today), I do want to share that purchasing it thru etrailer.com was very easy and it shipped very fast to my home. The Sarris Freedom was extremely easy to put together. It took about 10 minutes, basicly 3 bolts. Its very sturdy yet light, not bulky. Looks easy to store in my garage when not in use. Straps and wheel holders appear to be very well built. Got it on sale and the price was very good. Looking forward to trying it out later when picking up 2 new bikes. I plan on transporting somewhat locally between 5 and 25 miles each way. Initial feeling its a very nice rack.

I needed a bike rack to fit on my Jeep Wrangler that has 37 in tires and deep fuel wheels. This item with the extension, fit perfectly even with a backup camera on my bolts for my 37 in. Toyo spare tire. I am able to detach it with one screw and it is lightweight, so i only have bolt it on, add bike(s) and go. Easy to install minus the fact a 37 inch tire weighs a lot. Etrailer.com didn’t have the extension part in stalk but kept me informed of every step of the way. I still received it within 5 business days with customer service followed it all the way through. Great company.

Bike rack works great for my truck. I was able to load all the bikes and still fold down the tail gate which was real important to me. Folds up easy when not in use. I would also like to thank etrailer for getting the bike rack shipped out quickly. It arrived the day before I had to leave on vacation which made loading up the truck a lot easier.

Great heavy duty rack, make sure you have the bikes setup correctly as we have spent a lot of time loading the middle bikes. Not sure how it could have been roomier, but the bikes are solid when finally put on.

Etrailers website was easy to use and the product choices were great. We found the exact product that we were looking for to accommodate our two folding "Bike Fridays". We will use the rack on the back of our Mazda CX-5 and on the front of our Ford F450 pu truck. Your service was outstanding shipping, tracking and delivery. The onsite videos were helpful. Thank you very much. Pics are attached.

The rack is very well-built and easy to use. We have a 2002 Honda CR-V. The rear loading door that swings open horizontally The full-size spare tire is mounted on it. With the bike rack on, the door opening is constrained but there is enough room to squeeze in a suitcase or medium size cooler. So we load the back before attaching the rack and then detach it before unloading. We store it in the vehicle at night for security. The customer service from etrailer has been outstanding and we have become loyal customers.

This bike rack was designed for two bikes. I use it for one only fat tire e-bike as it is still within the weight restrictions. It carries my bike well and I'm pleased with it's performance. My suggestion is to always be within the weight restrictions when deviating from recommended us.

Works well for my Electra Townie 7i with the stock Schwalbe Fat Frank tires. The carrier extended to nearly max width accommodates the long Townie-frame bike--and securely. The carrier is heavy (for me) to handle due to its solid construction as is the bicycle, too.

This is a great 4 bike rack. It fits perfectly a 2019 BMW X5. Bikes are very easy to mount and dismount.

I just installed this on my Jeep and it was really easy. I have aftermarket tires which are pretty wide so I had to purchase the extended mounting plate. It is really sturdy. I feel a lot better about putting a carbon fiber frame bike on this platform rack, opposed to have to hang it on my old rack which isn’t good for the carbon frame. Also it is nice to be able to open the gate on the Jeep while it is still attached. I won’t have to take it off to put my dogs in the back of the Jeep.

This bike rack isn’t made for a woman to use and the rod with the clamps doesn’t fold out, only forwards and back and is always in the way of putting the bike on. It’s not functional. I’m very unhappy. I am transporting my car to Florida and need it out is return it. This is the second bike rack I’ve been very unhappy with.

Easy to install and remove relatively light rack, grips bike well locking straps could be a little easier to unlock
