Question:

I need a 2 inch hitch mount Rack to use attached to the back of my travel trailer. I like the Saris Freedom 4 bike platform rack, but notice that your review says it is not good for this type of use. Could you provide more information why? I did see that the manual recommends against it and it may void the warranty, but can you provide more insight. I would like a platform rack to avoid using a additional bar, such as the Saris Bike Bar. Thank you.

At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the trailer which exaggerates the movement of the trailer when hitting bumps. Because of that only a few bike racks were designed to be reinforced enough for that type of use.

I recommend the Yakima LongHaul, 4 bike rack # Y02476 which is RV rated and would work well. Check out the review video.
