Kuat Transfer 2-Bike Rack

The Transfer platform-style bike rack lets you carry 2 bikes on the back of your vehicle. The rack holds your bikes by the wheels - not the frames - to protect your paint. The low tray height takes the strain out of mounting your bikes on the rack, and the pivoting cradles and ratcheting wheel hooks make loading your bikes quicker and easier when compared with a rack that has a center post and frame hooks. A foot pedal lets you tilt the rack with bikes loaded for access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. And the pedal lets you fold the rack up for storage, too.

Perfect Fit Adjustment System

Kuat Transfer 2-Bike Rack

The Transfer has a Perfect Fit adjustment system that lets you carry your bikes safely and securely without the fear of damaging the frames. The system includes ratcheting hooks that hold your bikes firmly by the front wheels, adjustable front wheel cradles, and pivoting rear cradles that secure your rear wheels to the rack. These hooks and adjustable cradles ensure a perfect fit for each of your bikes' body styles.

Ratcheting Hooks

Kuat Transfer Ratcheting Hooks

The ratcheting hooks secure your bikes' front wheels to the rack. Place your bikes on the cradles then simply slide the hooks down over your wheels until they click in place. The hooks hold your bikes firmly in place without contacting the frames. Press the thumb release button on each hook to slide them up and remove your bikes.

Adjustable Front-Wheel Cradles

Kuat Transfer Adjustable Front-Wheel CradlesKuat Transfer Adjustable Front-Wheel Cradles

Each of the front cradles has a bolt locator tab that allows the pitch to be adjusted. In its upright position the cradles sit at the optimal position for holding a normal-size bike. Use the included Allen key to flip the bolt locator tab upside down. This allows the cradle to sit in a position that tilts more toward the center of the rack so that the tires of a children's bike will fit snugly.

Pivoting Rear-Wheel Cradles

Kuat Transfer Bolt Locator Tab

The Transfer has pivoting cradles that adjust to your bikes' rear wheels on the rack. Rotate the cradles out to accommodate bikes with wheelbases up to 47" long or rotate them toward the center of the rack to accommodate smaller bikes. Ratcheting straps secure your wheels to the cradles. A strap extender kit (APBK - sold separately) is available to convert the cradles for use with fat bikes.

Spring-Loaded Foot Lever

Kuat Transfer Spring-loaded foot lever

The spring-loaded foot lever is easily accessible even with your bikes loaded. No more crawling through bikes or squeezing between the rack and the vehicle to hit the tilt release lever.

Kuat Transfer Spring-loaded foot lever

The foot lever lets you easily tilt the rack down to allow access to your vehicle's rear cargo area - even with the bikes loaded. It leaves both hands free so that you can lower the rack in a controlled manner.

Folds Against Vehicle

When the rack is unloaded you can fold it up for storage. This makes it easier to park in small lots at the trail head or in cramped parking garages, and it keeps the rack out of the way of other vehicles and riders.

Adapter Sleeve with Threaded Hitch Pin

Kuat Transfer Adapter Sleeve

A removable sleeve on the shank lets you convert the rack for use with 1-1/4" hitches. The rack also comes with an anti-rattle device incorporated into the shank to reduce vibration and noise in the hitch for a smooth, quiet ride. Simply tighten the hitch bolt with the included 3/4" wrench.

There is also an optional cable lock and hitch lock (PTSCLK12 - sold separately) that lets you secure your bike to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

Video Transcript for Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to be taking a look at Kuat Transfer platform style two-bike rack. Part number TS02G. That's for the color gray. It's also available in Black. TS02B.The Kuat Transfer is a platform-style bike rack with a different approach. It has no center mast.

It has a step through design so we can easily access our bikes. As you can see, there's no platform to get in our way, so it's going to make loading and unloading easy. It also has an easy to access foot petal so we can tilt the rack away, even with bikes loaded, to access our rear hatch. Again, this is easier because there no platform to get in the way.Our bikes are held in place by a wheel hook and a wheel strap. There is no frame contact.

Its a ratcheting wheel hook that puts down pressure on our front wheel into our front wheel cradle. The rear cradle uses a strap to keep the rear wheel in place. We gone ahead and removed our bikes so we can take a closer look. The front wheel cradles are going to accept road bike tires, mountain bike tires, and fat tires up to 4 1/2 inches wide. For fat bikes you will need an adapter kit sold separately with part number APBK.

The rear cradle accepts all the same tire sizes. The only difference is for fat bikes, you have to swap out the strap from your fat bike kit. Or if you prefer, you can pick up the bike rack with the fat bike kit included with part number TS02G-FB in gray, and in black part number TS02B-FB.The cradles are adjustable for bikes of different sizes. The rear one pivots within the slot. The front cradles are adjustable by loosening up the tab with the included tool, and rotating it.

This is gonna raise the bike up which can help with handlebar spacing between the two bikes. When not in use, the wheel hooks fold flat. This allows us to fold the whole bike rack up against our vehicle for compact storage. Now this is ideal for pulling into a tight parking spot or pulling your garage overnight. The distance of the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the carrier when folded up is five inches. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the carrier when folded down is 7 1/5 inches. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the farthest edge of the carrier when folded down is 32 5/8 of an inch. The whole rack has a powder coated finish to resist rust and corrosion, and it features a limited lifetime warranty. Our customers mostly compare the Kuat Transfer to the more traditional Swagman XTC2. Compared to the Transfer, the XTC2 has a traditional platform with a center mast and hooks that contact our bikes frame. It does not tilt away, and the open wheel cradles leave your tires exposed. Now that we've gone over the features, I'll show you how to get it installed. Now, this is gonna work with inch and a quarter or two inch hitches, class one, two, and three. It includes a sleeve to work with our two inch by two inch receiver. What we'll do is feed it into our receiver tube, line up our pin holes. Once we've got it lined up, take our antiretroviral clip, and start threading that through. Once we've got it hand tightened, we can take our included tool, and finish tightening it up. Then we can just put our clip on the opposite side. Now we can get it ready to load up our bikes. The way we do that, is we take our foot, push down on the foot pedal, lower it down until it rests. Then we can raise out our wheel hooks, and undo our rear wheel straps. Now, it's recommended that you load up your heaviest bike first. So, raise it up. As you can see, that step through the design is gonna make it a lot easier to load up our bikes. W it in position, we can raise up our wheel hook, right in front of our fork or outbreak, whichever comes first. Once it makes contact, give like a push, and then it's secure. With it in position, we can then raise up our wheel hook. Now this is gonna end up in front of our fork, or our breaks, whatever comes first. I'll lower it down so it makes contact Question: our tire, and then we'll give it like a push, and then it's secure. For our rear cradle, it pivots to match or tires. Once it's seating correctly, we can run our strap through and pull it down through the other side.I've gone ahead and loaded up my second bike the same way. Now we can take it out and run our test course, and see how it performs. This is our test course. Let's start with our slalom. This shows side to side action, such as turning corners or evasive maneuvering. Then on to our alternating speed bumps. This shows twisting acton, such as hitting curves, potholes, road debris, or uneven pavement. That's gonna complete our look at Kuat Transfer platform style two bike rack, part number TS02G.

The guys (and gals) at etrailer are great. So knowledgable and helpful. Shipping was fast. Their Customer Service is some of the very best. I REALLY appreciate being able to talk a human being instead of incessant chats or emails. Keep up the great work. I strongly recommend etrailer to any potential customers. PS This is NOT a paid for endorsement. :-) 456318

Thank you for following up re the Kuat bike rack. Unfortunately, I did not like the Kuat and sold it. There wasn’t anything wrong with the unit but a number of things didn’t work for me: the empty rack partially obstructed my back up camera the empty rack needed to be lowered before opening my trunk hatch - a royal pain the rack was a pain assembling and required a few calls to customer service the rack while well built had a number of plastic parts.

I love this bike rack. I am a 55 year old women with a 14 year old daughter who does triathlons. We are both small people. Manhandling a couple of bikes above our heads make the thought of going riding intimidating. This rack solved all of those problems. You lift the bike approx. a foot and push the lever arm onto the front tire and away you go. In addition, the rack folds up and down with one push on the handle so the trunk is completely accessible if you leave the rack on the back of the car ( I drive a Subaru Forrester SUV) instead of taking it on and off after each ride. Putting it together took awhile but was not rocket science, but you only have to do it once. It is kind of heavy when you put it in the hitch, but it is heavy duty and I have no fears that it will break or get damaged. Plan to use this for a long time. 407323

This bike rack is amazing. My husband and i put it together and installed it in about an hour. He tightened it but other than that I might have been able to build it myself. I used it the next day on a bike trip with a friend. We loaded and unloaded the bikes 6 times, and could not believe how easy it was. The bikes travelled without jiggling around and i felt very secure with them there. I like how it tilts up so you can leave it on the car, and tilts forward so you can access the back. I have a 2016 Tiguan. I am pretty sure my friend is going to buy one now. We loved it. 573969

The bike rack it still perfect! I have a new car but I kept the rack. I had it up in the Cariboo this summer. Our road into the lake is gravel and potholes. The rack kept my bike secure and safe. Can’t say enough about it. Thanks again.

Ordered from Etrailer and received it here in Austin, TX in two business days. So I will say the processing and shipping was 5-STARS!!! * Assembly: Took me about 45 minutes to complete. The instructions were detailed and specific with pictures. All tools and hardware was in separate packing so you would know which bolds, nuts and screws (tools) needed to be used. * Quality: Seems that etrailer sent me this e-mail very quick to ask for me to put in a review. So I only owned it for 3 days and it is on my vehicle. I am using the 1.25" and removed to adapter to install it on my current hitch. I did install my 30# carbon fiber mountain bike and it was very easy to setup and lock down all fastening to secure a solid hold. I have yet to take a stroll down the road to see how it handles, but this is NOT my first receiver. I can tell you for the price this is a very, very nice receiver and I would not hesitate to trust it and take it even on a 2000 mile road trip! I like that it is light and remove and put away and it collapses down very nice. Warranty: One of the main reasons why I got this is because of the lifetime warranty. I hope I will never need to reach out to KUAT for any parts, but there are a lot of moving parts (straps, bolts) that may wear down or fall off. I do recommend to run little bit of maintenance on this bike rack by re-tightening bolts and nuts to make sure the hold is secure. Since you'll have to assemble this it would just be ideal, especially in the 1st 6-months of use to make sure things are secure. After that I think the maintenance part of it can be ignored. However a clean bike transporter is a happy bike transporter :) ! Overall: SOLID and no regrets on this purchase!! If anyone cares, my last bike transporter was a 1 bike / 1UP model. I sold it to get this one because this fits two bikes and the 1up I had to spend another $300 to get an add on bike plus shipping fees. So that bike rack was $500 + shipping. Other thoughts: I recommending getting the PN# PTSCLK12 to cable secure your bikes and the bike transporter itself. Its a good $40 investment especially for the lock to your vehicle to bike transporter. The dual cable locks are decent, it will not protect you from the bad bike thief's out there, but it'll keep the honest people honest! 470107

Very satisfied. Assembly went pretty well, not super smooth or quick, but do theses kinds of things ever? I had to ream out a couple of holes with a drill bit because they weren't aligned properly. If memory serves me correctly, it was were the lock cap at the top of the arms. It won't be major if you have any amount of tool experience. We traveled from central Illinois to the Upper Peninsula, MI, then to central OH, back into Michigan a bit and then home to central IL. At least one road in the UP was back woods rough; it fed the logging areas, to give an idea. Both bikes rode like contented babies the entire trip. Very easy to get them on and off the rack. And I like how the rack pivots down for access to the hatch, and up to get out of the way when bikes aren't on it. 445354

Bought a hitch, rack, and locks for my ‘08 Prius and am very happy with all three. The service and fast shipping has been a highlight as well. 567352

I absolutely love this bike rack, and use it every day that the weather permits. While I usually leave it on my car, it is quite easy to remove and put back on. I have no problems lowering it to access the back hatch of my car. As a very petite woman, I was worried it would be too big or heavy to maneuver. But I have no problems getting it off or on. I can put my bike on it and have the bike secured in just seconds. Sometimes I pull up at the trailhead at the same time as other people. I am always the first one done with getting the bike loaded up. I usually ride alone, but when riding with a friend, it has been easy to load two bikes, and they both stay securely in their place, with no rubbing or scratching. I also had no problems putting it together by myself. It is perhaps the first item I’ve ever assembled that had the instructions written in correct and easy to understand English. I also want to say that the company has excellent customer service. I had called them with questions before purchasing, and they got back to me very promptly and answered all my questions. They also followed up with me one year later to check on how I liked their product. I consider them to be a first class company to do business with. 565424

- TS02G

Assembly of this rack was fairly straight forward. Instructions consisted mainly of illustrations. I had one issue during assembly where I overtightened bolts and fatigued plastic mating surfaces. The directions gave no caution or guidance regarding how tight to make things. I thought, tighter is always better (wrong). Kuat customer service was very helpful and shipped out replacement parts no questions asked. I am totally satisfied with the rack function, fit and ease of use. I have yet to take long trips but, in local use, it has performed admirably. I was also totally satisfied with etrailer's order fulfillment and customer support. 566579

Loving the Kaut Transfer 2. Have taken 2 1400 mile trips with no issues. Every time I loadunload our bikes I am impressed with the ease of use and quality of the product. I find it easy to put onoff the car ~5 min. job 2 Bikes are loaded and ready to go in another 5. Must say this purchase was a good decision. Fully satisfied.

Love it! Easy to use and very attractive. I like that you don't have to take the bikes off to get into the back of the vehicle. No vibration. 574411

Bought the Transfer 2 for more secure transport of a pair of lovely step-through frame bicycles. The assembly process was straightforward and event-free, thanks to unusually clear step-by-step instructions and a well-designed product. All of the necessary tools were included in the package. We've done one 5-hour trip so far and the bikes were stable and very happy on the rack while doing 75+ mph on the highway, also when crossing train tracks. The rack's back-tilt feature makes it easy to put the hatchback up for rear access. Getting the bikes on and off the rack is similarly a snap. Could not be happier so far. BTW, got the locks as well; that did NOT come with instructions although a video walk-through is available on the eTrailer site. 548182

The 2 bike Kuat Transfer arrived in 3 days, as promised by Noah at Etrailer- great job! Directions were good, and I liked that the different nuts, bolts and hardware were packaged in sections based on their use, and that they provide all the tools, including a box wrench to bolt the carrier on to the hitch. I did have one question and got a service rep from Kuat, who explained what was unclear. The bike rack is really solid and easy to use. It folds up close to the rear of my Murano when not in use, and the foot release also lets the bike rack fold forward to open the hatchback door, even with the 2 bikes on! Etrailer has the best price, also got the hitch from them, same fast delivery- highly recommended! 576253

Great bike rack, used it many times, keeps the bikes safe, with no swaying.

I have a 2014 Regal GS and decided not to risk damage to my trunk with a trunk rack so I opted for a hitch bike rack. I am very pleased with the Kuat Transfer rack. The etrailer online video provides great assistance with assembly which took me a little over an hour. The rack attached to the hitch easily. The rack is super simple and quick to use and holds the bikes securely. The only thing I would recommend is purchasing the bike and hitch lock kit which are not included with the rack. 670886

- TS02G

Got this product within 10 days of ordering, and etrailer was very communicative about when the product would arrive. I assembled it with only a slight amount of trouble. My only issues were 1- putting on the wheel well involves a bolt with an insert that says "up" on it with an arrow; the insert is supposed to fit into a slot on the wheel well, and will only do so if things are lined up correctly, so I had to figure out that the part on the wheel well that surrounds the actual metal rack ROTATES inside the part of the wheel well that actually holds the wheel. This enables the insert with "up" to fit into the slot. Confusing, but pretty simple once I figured it out. 2- My hitch is 1 1/4" and you have to take off the factory installed 2" adapter by unscrewing a bolt. The bolt was harder to take off than I was expecting, but finally got it! The rack comes with all the tools to install - no need to have a complete tool box or anything. Make sure to follow all the instructions carefully - there are a couple details that you could miss that would make installation a little difficult. For example - make sure you're not installing things upside down, make sure everything is facing the same way as in the manual (that's not just for aesthetics!) When putting your rack into the hitch, having two people might make it a little easier. I had a small bit of trouble adjusting it so the hole for the bolt lined up between the two parts (I got it, but another person would have made it a little less frustrating). My 29" small Anthem fits perfectly! I might leave another review in a few months after I've really used this thing, but so far I'm excited 488648

This is as nice a two bike, platform hitch rack as I've seen at any price.( Getting it through etrailer made it even less expensive than everywhere else.) Everything about this rack speaks of quality. The only negative review that I saw said if left on the vehicle for a couple of years caused it to rust out. I sprayed WD-40 liquid lithium on the inside of all the steel tubes. (I learned to do this with all my archery tree stands.) I'm hoping that my wife and I are good to go for many years. And the rack sure does look nice on our new VW Tiguan! 485892

As great as it ever was. We love it.

Delivery on time as scheduled; trailer staff was very helpful in answering questions about usability at the time we ordered. Assembly was easy enough; the enclosed would have been sufficient, but the KUAT video online gave nice confirmation. This rack is to replace a Yakima we returned that was just too heavy for my wife to put up and down on her own. This one is much more user-friendly, and the foot pedal to raise and lower the rack is very easy. The only thing bringing it down to a good is that the rack appears to be a bit loose in the hitch (we have the 1.25 inch hitch). I may have to rig something up to keep it a little tighter. It's not horrible, but gives me some concern about taking bikes on a longer trip. 224722

I ordered a Kuat Transfer 2 for my 2017 Subaru Outback with a 2" DrawTite hitch. Michael H cautioned me that the Transfer 2 would fit my vehicle but might not fold up when not in use due to proximity to the tailgate. I received the rack promptly and assembled it with no problems. It is a bit heavier than I would like but very sturdy. The rack will actually fold up OK on my car but as expected there is not much clearance. I will soon try it all out and report any issues. So far, very good experince with the rack and e-trailer. 295045

This rack works great, I have used it several times and am impressed with how sturdy it is. I would recommend it highly.

Took less than 30min to put together and is simple to operate. Was a little nervous of how stable bike would be with only the front wheel hold down, BUT once i had it locked down I took it for a test drive over some bumpy roads and was extremely impressed with how solid the bike was held. 473089

- TS02G

This bike rack has been great. Got it originally because I wanted something that my wife was able to use by herself and this fit the bill. Very easy and quick to get bikes on and off. Never had any issues with stability either. We've taken 2 bikes on several cross country trips from PA to UT and back and also PA to FL. Folds conveniently and the full lowered position allows me to load and unload our recumbent trike in the SUV without removing the rack. 571297

- TS02G

What do I like about it? - Really easy to mount your bike on it. Much better than scratching your car with hooks and cables like other hitches. - Easy to install. - As long as you keep the screws tight, the rack is really steady (the rack was very steady carrying two 30lb mountain bikes). - Can carry a variety of tire sizes (I have a road bike and a mountain bike) What don't I like about it? - It wasn't easy putting on the lock at the base of the hitch. Whether it's my car or where I installed the hitch, I'm not sure, but it got ugly :) - It's big, and when folded it's visible in my rear view mirror. Again, it's related to where I installed my hitch but I can still see everything and it's not a safety issue. - It doesn't have light deflectors, which I added on my own. I would imagine that anything sticking out from the car profile should have some sort of a alarming signs. One thing, which is probably my fault since I did not read the instructions, when I first removed my mountain bike from the rack instead of releasing the back strap first, I released the front arm which caused the bike to tilt over and hit my back windshield. Big mistake on my part. Nothing serious happened, just a small scratch, but from that moment on I release the back strap FIRST and then the front arm. Sound trivial now, just don't be like me... 296488

Still works great. No complains.

Absolutely the best place to buy hitches and racks. Price come out to be $50 less than advertised, because of the price pledge. Shipping was faster than expected. I received my item within 72 hours. No problems with anything. Fits and works nicely. I will buy from you guys again and will recommend you guys to all my friends. 504256

This is a super sweet bike rack. Very easy to set up. Instructions are clear and simple. The ease of use is phenomenal. And it looks great when not in use also. Now it is simple to take the little ones bike along for rides. 514744

My very first experience with etrailer was when I bought a Yakima DoubleDown bike rack and a receiver hitch for my Mazda 3 for my old school Giant Rainier mountainbike. It was a great buying experience so it was a no brainer to come back to etrailer and purchase a more bike appropriate bike rack for my Giant Trance and my wife's new Giant Lust full suspension bikes. Since the newer styles of frames do not work well with the traditional bike racks, I wanted a carrier that didn't touch my frame and allowed the bikes to sit right on the rack. After reviewing etrailer's offerings I decided on the Kuat TS02G. I was very impressed with the reviews people wrote about this carrier and now that I have used it many times taking the bikes up to the foothills, I must say it is a wonderful rack, it was easy to assemble (because I watched someone's video and heeded their recommendations before assembling it). I have the 1.25" receiver hitch and was a bit concerned about the reported "wiggle" but I never experienced this as I installed the hitch pin through the right hand side of the hitch and it is very snug! The other concern was how heavy it might be but found it very easy to walk right up the back of my car and slip the rack right in the hitch, no problem...and I'm 63. I was very impressed with the quality of the components and the ease of loading and unloading our bikes. Once again etrailer performed flawlessly with a quick delivery that arrived a day sooner than they estimated and the valuable resources on their website that assist you to make a confident purchasing decision. Thanks etrailer! 408571

I ordered this bike rack because I wanted a decent platform rack for a fair price, and this new Küat product seemed to fit the bill. I preface all my comments with the fact that this is my first bike rack purchase. Pros: Box arrived with all necessary parts packaged in segmented bags that were clearly recognizable in conjunction with written directions. Rack went together in about 30 minutes with one person handing parts and one putting together. It seems quite sturdy. Ours holds two different sized hybrid bikes, and they fit quite nicely. No contact between bikes when on rack. Bikes had very little movement at 55 mph as long as tire hooks and straps were pulled tightly. If you can spin wheels by hand even a bit, pull tighter. On a 2013 Honda Accord the trunk opens with the bikes loaded w/o having to drop the rack, and it opens with the rack closed up. It also goes on and off the car easily. Cons: I agree with other reviewer who suggested site should indicate item is on back order rather than be given that information after purchase is made. I had to wait a month for the rack to arrive after receiving my hitch four days after placing my order. Etrailer reps did keep in contact regarding the wait and that was very helpful. I also agree with reviewer who expressed concern about how rack seems a tad bit loose in 1¼" hitch, but it did seem fine after highway driving. 226642

  • Kuat Transfer vs Thule T2 Classic vs Saris Superclamp EX
For this being your first bike rack purchase you have done a fantastic job at researching to narrow it down to some great choices! Since you have done your research and watched our review videos I will avoid going over all of the features and focus on your specific questions for each bike rack. If you do end up having more questions though please let me know. The Kuat Transfer # TS02G is a great, cost-effective option that only weighs in at 37 lbs. It also has a gunmetal gray powder...

  • Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Vs. Kuat Transfer 2 For Carbon Fiber Bike Frames
I am happy to help you with comparing the Kuat Transfer2 part # TS02G and the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 part # SH22B. Both the Kuat Transfer2 and the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 are great options for carbon fiber bikes because they hold the bikes by the wheels instead of the frame. The biggest differences between these two bike racks are the wheel cradles, design and the locks. The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack has folding front-wheel cradles so you can fold them out of the way when you want to fold...

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for Backup Camera Use on a 2019 Toyota Highlander
The best folding bike rack that will obstruct the backup camera on your 2019 Toyota Highlander the least is the Kuat Transfer. This comes in Gray # TS02G and Black # TS02B and has been test fit on a 2016 Highlander (see attached video) which is the same generation as your 2019. The biggest difference between this and a Thule hanging rack is that it is a wheel mount bike rack. The great thing about wheel mount bike racks is that it can accommodate any bike frame style as long as you don't...

  • Trailer Hitch for 2018 Subaru Outback For Carrying Kuat Transfer Bike Rack
For a trailer hitch to fit your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon which will allow you to also use your Kuat Transfer # TS02G the Curt Hitch # C13206 would be your best option as it allows the rack to fold up unlike the Draw Tite. This is a 2 inch trailer hitch which very easily support your bike rack when it has the 2 inch hitch adapter installed. 2 inch hitches are preferred as they have higher capacities and have more accessories made for them. The Curt hitch will allow the rack to fold up but...

  • Will Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Rack Work on 212 VW Eos With Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch
We have not had a chance to test fit the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24824 on a 2012 VW Eos so I can't tell you definitively if the Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack - Gray # TS02G or Black # TS02B will have enough clearance. Based on the accompanying photo showing this hitch installed on an Eos it looks like it should, but the issue with the Transfer is that it is only 5 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack when the rack is folded up (and...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for 2007 Acura MDX
To carry a pair of mountain bikes on your 2007 Acura MDX you have a couple options. The best one is going to be a hitch-mounted rack because they offer the most protection for your bikes, are easy to load and unload, and offer the ability to access your rear cargo area. Please keep in mind that you would not be able to install a hitch if your MDX has a full-sized spare tire under the vehicle, though a mini spare tire would allow a hitch to be installed. The Kuat Transfer 2-Bike Platform Rack # TS02G (Gray) and # TS02B (Black) will fit the hitch on your truck, but without knowing anything about how far out the camper extends from the rear of your truck there isn't a way to verify if this - or any bike rack - will require an extension. What I can do is give you some numbers which you can use to find out if the rack will work, or if you need an extender. From the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the Kuat Transfer is 7-/12 inches,...

  • Will the Kuat Transfer Bike Rack Hold Up Against Corrosion if Left Out in Rain Frequently
The Kuat Transfer is steel which means that it is susceptible to corrosion but only if the powder coating gets scraped off. If that happens then spraying some paint on it will help stop corrosion from starting. The Hollywood Racks TRS # HR3000 is made with both aluminum and steel parts. Aluminum is naturally corrosion resistant and the steel is powder coated so it is a good option around the same price as the Transfer. If you want a rack that is mostly aluminum I recommend the Kuat...

Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitch - Tilting - Item # TS02G accepts tires up to 3 inches wide right out of the box. Using the Phat Bike Adapter Kit for Kuat Bike Racks Item # APBK increases it to 4-1/2 inches. To be clear the wheel cradles as they come will hold up to a 4-1/2 inch tire but the included straps are not long enough to secure anything over 3 inches in width. • Comparison of Yakima Holdup, Kuat Transfer 2, and Sherpa 2.0
If I had to pick between the three bike racks you mentioned I would go with the Kuat Sherpa part # SH22G for a few reasons. It's the lightest weight at 32 lbs, (Transfer is 37 and Holdup is 49), it's the most stable on the road (I attached a test course video for each and over the speed bumps it was the most stable). I would not worry about the wheel trays being smaller either. The straps and wheel hook are very stable and secure the bikes well. We also have quite a few reviews from our...

Thank you for your purchase of the Kuat Transfer 2 bike carrier # TS02G. This platform rack can be updated for fat bike use with accessory Strap Kit # APBK, which I see you purchased as well. We have not heard of this issue with this rack when it is equipped with this kit and used with a bike that has compatible tire width. I have a solution for you, however the Kuat Transfer, part # TS02G, isn't approved for use on the rear of a trailer or RV. This is because of the distance between the axle and the location of the hitch causes additional stress to be put on the bike rack and the hitch, potentially damaging less sturdy racks. Whenever there is a 2" hitch available for a particular vehicle, I always recommend going with that because it provides you with a greater number of compatible accessories that can be carried. On top of being stronger and typically rated for higher tongue weight capacities, it's also a good idea to have a 2" hitch if you decide to get a different rack in the future, or want to carry a cargo tray or something else.
