Loading four bikes shouldn't be a puzzle. Most racks force a specific order, but the Shifts&Grins lets you load your way. Plans change? Drop to two bikes in seconds - just loosen the knob and slide off the add-on. No tools, no hassle, just ride.
Some days, it's a full group ride. Other days, it's just you and your bike chasing the sunrise. Wherever the ride takes you, this rack keeps up. Go from four to two bikes in seconds - just loosen the knob, remove the add-on, and hit the road. No tools, no extra hassle - just seamless adjustments for whatever kind of ride you're on.
No more swapping bikes around to make them fit. The Shifts&Grins adapts to any setup, so you don't have to force a perfect order. Ratcheting hooks grab your bikes by the wheel or frame, while sliding wheel cradles move independently to match any combination of sizes and styles. Just set, secure, and go.
Reaching your gear shouldn't mean unloading your bikes or wrestling with a clunky mechanism. With the push-button tilt, just tap it with your leg and keep both hands on the rack as it smoothly lowers out of the way. No awkward balancing, no hassle - just quick, easy access to your trunk so you can grab what you need and get back on the road.
Bumpy roads, tight turns, high speeds - none of it matters when your rack holds steady. With a rugged, no-wobble design and an anti-rattle hitch pin, this rack locks in place so you can focus on the ride, not on whether your bikes are shifting behind you.
Wrestling a full four-bike rack into place is a hassle. With Shifts&Grins, you don't have to. Install just the two-bike base first, then slide on the add-on when you need it. The hitch alignment collar guides the shank in place, and the D-shaped anti-rattle hitch pin tightens down with one hand, so you're locked in and ready to roll in seconds.
This rack keeps everything secure no matter where you park. The included D-shaped hitch lock secures the rack to your hitch, while the steel cable lock (with vinyl coating) keeps your bikes in place. Plus, for added convenience, they both use the same key.
When the ride's over, the Shifts&Grins practically disappears. Keep the two-bike base on your hitch and store the add-on separately or remove the entire rack and store it as one piece or two. The shank folds against the base, letting it stand upright, while the add-on's flat design keeps it stable on its own - no extra stands, no awkward angles, just a rack that knows when to step aside. That means no more tripping over a bulky four-bike setup in your garage or wrestling to find space for it.

How's it going neighbors Today we're gonna take a look at the Benton Shifts&Grins four bike carrier with locks for your two-inch receiver. Now you may notice right off the bat how closely this gets to the wall. So this is just gonna give you a demonstration of how easy it is to store and have all the capabilities of a high weight capacity. So let's go ahead and get this guy installed and see what's special about it. Now once you're going from storage to installation, it's super easy to get it going. You're just gonna press down on the Benton fun button, and you'll be able to extend your shank.
And then you can drop this guy right into your two-inch receiver. Now also included is an alignment collar. So once you get it set up, it'll make it easy for you to get your pinhole aligned just by inserting. Benton does a great job of creating things that are just super easy to use. Now you can notice the D-shape here on our bolt that makes it so it can install super easy and you only need one hand to tighten it down.
All right, and I have an 18 millimeter wrench that I'm gonna use to activate my anti-rattle. We're gonna get this fastened down, and that'll give you a much more stable ride 'cause basically what that does for you, it's less wear on your bikes and less wear on your bike carrier to reduce that vibration. So now that we have it nice and tight, we're gonna go ahead and secure it. I'm gonna take my alignment collar, and I'm just gonna make sure that it's set up where next time it'll just drop right into place, and then we're good to go. Now from here you're gonna see our two inch shank.
It's steel, powder coated and designed to deal with the abuse of being underneath your vehicle. As far as the way this guy is compacted, on this particular vehicle, you can see it would block out the license plate. You are going to be about 48 inches wide. It actually sticks out 36 inches once it's fully extended, and it'll support a wheel base up to 48 inches. Now one of the things that are really cool is gonna work with some of your wider tires.
It'll go up to four inches. Again, can support 55 pounds per bike. So that's gonna give you a wide variety and range of different types of bikes you can throw on. So we're gonna go ahead and get loaded up. Now one of the cool things about this guy, it is adjustable for different wheel bases. So you can use the knobs here to make adjustments to dial it right in for your ride. And this guy works as a wheel mounted carrier. If your bike is the type where you don't wanna make any contact or you have an unconventional frame. Now say you have fenders on your bike, you can actually remove your hook and use it as a frame mount. And this way you'll be able to have a wide range of different types of bikes you can carry on the back of your vehicle. As far as our straps, these guys go on really well, and they're padded right for your rim. So it's gonna help keep everything nice and protected. So, you know, what's the point of securing your bike if it doesn't arrive in good shape Loaded up, you're gonna have about 11 inches of space between each one of your bikes. So it gives you a lot of convenience as far as being able to shift and not have any handlebar/seat interference. Now you're saying, Ed, I got two more friends. What can I do Glad you asked. We actually have the two bike add-on that just snaps on super easy. It's very durable, and you can tell from the material it's solid. You're just gonna tilt this guy on in the correct direction, and you can feel it engage. And then from here we're gonna go to our next lock in the set is actually gonna go through the pinhole here. So now that you have the two bike add-on installed, you can keep it secure using this pin lock right here. It's gonna slide through, and it's keyed alike to your other two locks. We're just gonna insert and then lock our core. Nice and secure. And now we're gonna take our knob and make sure that we have it nice and tightened down to help minimize the vibration between the two sets. The Shifts&Grins make sure you keep your bikes nice and secure by giving you a complete lock set, so you don't need to add anything once you get it set up. This guy is gonna have a 10-foot braided steel cable, and it's gonna loop around your bike frames to keep everything nice and secure. So when you're running into the coffee shop or if you're just making a quick stop when you're on your way out to your adventure, you don't have to worry about the security of your gear 'cause, you know, you can't really promise that anyone won't do anything bad. However, it does serve as a deterrent, and hopefully it'll move on to a softer target. And again, it is keyed alike to the other two lock cores. You're gonna have a nice dust cap right here to keep all the road grime and elements out of your lock gear, so you don't have to worry about it going bad on you. And when you get to the trail head, I would love for you to send a photo in because we just love having that interaction. A lot of folks here like to get out and hit the parks and trails just to be outside, and we'll just, you know, you do the same stuff. So again, this is Ed with etrailer.com taking a look at the Benton Shifts&Grins four-bike carrier with lock set. Have a great day.
This rack is a solidly built beast! It has every feature I was looking for at a reasonable price. It is easy to adjust the tire spacing, has great locking straps for the tires and an easy adjustable padded grip for the crossbars. As a bonus it also tilts down so I can open the rear hatch on my vehicle without having to remove the bikes. I also bought the locking kit so the rack and bikes are secure if I go into a store or something.
etrailer was easy to order from and kept me informed of all purchase and delivery details, and they were fast!
Great product and company!
Excellent design and quite strong. Should last years.
Everything about this product feels rock solid. So far, my assessment is that this is great value for price!
Just as advertised on Bike Sauce. (YOUT UBE)
I was looking for a 4-bike rack with the wheel holders and adjustable arms designed to hook on both the frame and wheels if necessary. This rack seemed to fit the bill, and was priced less than the Kuat, Saris, and other name brand racks. It works, but after putting it together and using it for a weekend of camping I'm not sure I would buy it again. This thing is heavy. The online reviews and videos mention that, but I never looked at the actual weight before making the purchase. This thing is 114 lbs. in the 4-bike configuration, and that's without any bikes. Luckily, I installed 4 inch by 4 inch rear camper bumper with thicker steel and re-enforcements to my frame, as well as a heavy duty receiver, or I wouldn't even think about attaching this thing to the rear of a camper. It arrived in two boxes. Both boxes were heavy duty with some pretty thick cardboard inserts, but both racks were scratched up in several places and started to rust immediately. I also noticed after one weekend that the rivets that hold the arm click mechanisms together have already started rusting. I guess they decided to use plain steel rivets. I also noticed that the collar that's designed to stop the unit from sliding in at a certain point was installed backwards from the factory. I flipped it around, adjusted it where I needed it, and tightened the knob. With the weight of the entire unit you can't get the knob tight enough to stay in position when pushing the unit towards the vehicle's receiver hitch, so it's not really worth using. One of the locking arms also had the allen screw at the bottom not fully tightened. These are obviously small issues that were fixable, but does reflect quality control. I do like the latching mechanism that raises and lowers the entire unit. It does feel solid and secure. The click latches and straps that go around the bike wheels feel a bit cheap. I'm not sure how long those will last. I was able to fit two full size mountain bikes, and two smaller kids bikes with no issues, so it does seem to work well with various bike sizes. In all, I'm a bit disappointed in the rack. If it wasn't so much of a hassle, and I hadn't already thrown the packaging away I would probably have sent the rack back for a refund and spent a bit more money on something lighter and a bit better quality.
