TorkLift SuperTruss in SuperHitch

This SuperTruss hitch extender is specially designed to work with your SuperHitch trailer hitch (sold separately). Like most products from TorkLift, the primary purpose of this extender is to help create a towing setup that fits perfectly with your truck bed camper system. Not only will you be able to extend your trailer hitch receiver out far enough to clear the overhang of your camper, but you will also maintain a high enough weight capacity so that you can tow your trailer.

Heavy-Duty Towing with a Hitch Extension

Most hitch extensions dramatically reduce the towing capacity of your hitch setup, making it difficult to tow a loaded trailer over a certain weight. The SuperTruss, though, creates such a sturdy connection with your SuperHitch trailer hitch that you can still maintain a high weight capacity. To get the highest capacity possible, use a standard weight distribution system with the TorkLift towing setup.

The SuperTruss uses both of the receivers on your TorkLift SuperHitch to ensure a sturdy, secure connection. The solid shank of the extension's top tube slides into your top receiver, and the extension's lower compression tube installs in your bottom receiver. Each tube is held in place with the hitch pins and clips that were included with your SuperHitch. The connection between the extension and your hitch is reinforced with 2 sturdy steel collars that bolt around the tubes of the SuperTruss.

To give you absolute peace of mind, lateral support chains connect to the hitch and the extension on either side of your setup. Just attach one end of each chain to the extension and secure the opposite end to your SuperHitch. Then tighten the chains with the integrated turnbuckles. These chains not only provide extra security to keep the extension in place in your hitch, but they also transfer some of the weight back from the extension to your frame-mounted hitch.

How to Determine the SuperTruss Length You Need

If the camper is mounted on the truck:

Measure from the face of the truck's rear bumper to the outside edge of the camper's bumper. This is the length of the extension that you need.

If the camper is not mounted on the truck:

1. Measure from the inside of the front of your truck bed to the outside face of the truck's rear bumper.

2. Measure the camper's overall floor length from the rubber bumpers at the front to the outside edge of the rear bumper.

3. Find the difference between these 2 figures by subtracting. The difference is the length of the extension that you need.

  • How To Obtain 60" Hitch Extension for 2011 GMC Sierra 2500/3500 for Towing with In-Bed Camper
The only trailer hitch extension available in a 60" length is the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension part # TLE1560 which then must be used with the TorkLift SuperHitch Original Trailer Hitch Receiver part # TLC1209 for models with 6-1/2' bed or part # TLC1208 for 8' long beds. That said, this is going to be your only option. It will provide you with a 5,000 lb gross trailer weight rating. You'll also need the TorkLift Wiring Harness Extension part # TLW6060.

  • Extension for Hitch Receiver to Allow Trailer Towing with Truck That Has Slide-in Camper
We do offer hitch extensions in various lengths to fit 2-inch and 2-1/2-inch truck hitches. These are shown on the linked page. The issue with hitch extensions is that they typically cause a loss of hitch capacity, a 50-percent loss! This happens due to the additional leverage applied by the extension to the hitch tube. This is much like slipping a pipe over the end of a tire iron to give you more leverage to loosen a lug nut. For this reason very long extensions such as the 60-inch...

  • 3 Foot Hitch Extension For 2-1/2 Inch Receiver Opening
For your Superhitch Magnum like # TLF1003-30 confirmed to fit a Ford F-550, the hitch comes with the 2 inch reducer to make it compatible with the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension for SuperHitch Trailer Hitch Receivers - 36" Long # TLE1536. There is not a truss extension that will give you the 2-1/2 inch opening at the end of it. Even the single extensions like # RP45292 that is 34 inches long, the 2-1/2 inch receiver opening is reduced to 2 inches at the end of the extension. For...

  • Longest Available 2-Inch Hitch Extensions for Use with Truck Bed Camper
For a 2-inch hitch the longest hitch extensions we offer are the 60-inch # TLE1560 and 48-inch # TLE1548, both from TorkLift. However, these only work along with a TorkLift brand SuperHitch dual-receiver type hitch that has the strength and included safety chains to handle the extra stress from the trailer load being further from the hitch. To use one of these you will need to also install a SuperHitch. The longest standard 2-inch hitch extension that will work in any hitch is 18-inches,...

This and the 60-inch unit you referenced, part # TLE1560, can be seen on the linked page. Many lengths of extension are offered. You'll want to use the shortest one that will do the job. To use the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension # TLE1560 with your 2015 Ford F-350 you would need to remove your factory hitch and install the Torklift Hitch part # TLF1002-30. The longest trailer hitch extender we offer is the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension part # TLE1560 which measures 60". However, the SuperTruss will require you to use a SuperHitch like part # TLC1204. The longest trailer hitch extender we offer for a 2" trailer hitch that does not require the SuperHitch is indeed 18" like part # C45796. • Using Reese Hitch Extender with Long Shank Ball Mount on 2002 Ford F-150
You can use the Reese Hitch Extender # RP11004 that you referenced along with the Draw-Tite Ball Mount # 2753. The only thing you need to be aware of is that the use of the Reese extender will reduce the weight capacity of your trailer hitch by 35 percent. For example if the trailer hitch on your F-150 has a towing weight capacity of 10,000 pounds, this will be reduced to 6,500 pounds when using the extender.
