I'm so frustrated. I need this particular lock cylinder in order to be able to sell a different vehicle and I waited about 2 weeks for my order to arrive and when it got here it was the wrong part.

This is a great option if you want to keep using your ignition key with your tailgate lock. Super easy to code it to your existing key. Highly recommended!

The product did not fit my 05 Chevy Colorado as described on the website. No biggy it happens. But when I had to pay shipping to return the product after having many conversations with E-trailer.. This replacement lock cylinder is used with part # BL5922987 which is fit for late model GM vehicles. The GM vehicles are 2008 to 2014 GMC Sierras and 2008 to 2014 Chevy Silverado. I checked and it would not work with a Chevy Colorado.

There isn't much to say about this lock. It works perfectly with my factory key, and the instructions are very easy. Simply put your key in the lock, completely, and turn. OEM replacement was 10x the price.

Make sure you review the key style information before you order. I did not and had to sent it back (which was not a problem.
It is a great product to replace locks on your truck so the keys all match.
I hope the make one for the 2014 chevy wher the key has no "teeth"

Hello Charles, thanks for reaching out. The Replacement BOLT Lock Cylinder for Tailgate Handle # BL709231 is the cylinder only and does not include the retainer clip. Sadly, we do not offer the retainer by itself so your best option here will be to replace the whole handle assembly since that would come with the cylinder and retainer clip.

I do have one option for you since the Replacement BOLT Lock Cylinder # BL709231 is for the Tailgate Handle with BOLT Lock # BL5922987 and will not replace the factory lock on your 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500WT. For that cylinder you will need to visit a Chevrolet dealer. We do offer the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock # PAL8140 that will allow for you to use the power locks on your 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 WT to lock and unlock your tailgate so that you will not need the key.

Tailgate Locks for a 2004 GMC Canyon
We do have some tailgate lock options for your 2004 GMC Canyon. But Replacement BOLT Lock Cylinder # BL709231 will not work with the 2004 GMC Canyon. It isn't necessarily because of the lock or truck but because it does not accept the 2004 Canyon key. We do have Pop & Lock tailgate locks # PAL1700 and # PAL1700C which are manual locks. Or you could use lock # PAL8160 which will work with power door locks to lock and unlock the tailgate.
