Will this fit in the tailgate handle for my 2012 GMC canyon?

I do have an option for you but the Bolt Lock Cylinder for Tailgate Handle part # BL709231 does not fit the 2012 GMC Canyon. I was able to confirm with Bolt that your key would not be compatible with this lock.
I recommend to use the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock with Handle - Manual - Black part # PAL1700 which I understand is more expensive but will replace the tailgate handle and lock to protect your beds contents. This is the best manual lock option available for your truck. It includes tailgate handle, 2 keys, lock mechanism and all necessary hardware for installation. I have attached a video for your reference.
