TorkLift SuperTruss in SuperHitch

This SuperTruss hitch extender is specially designed to work with your SuperHitch trailer hitch (sold separately). Like most products from TorkLift, the primary purpose of this extender is to help create a towing setup that fits perfectly with your truck bed camper system. Not only will you be able to extend your trailer hitch receiver out far enough to clear the overhang of your camper, but you will also maintain a high enough weight capacity so that you can tow your trailer.

Heavy-Duty Towing with a Hitch Extension

Most hitch extensions dramatically reduce the towing capacity of your hitch setup, making it difficult to tow a loaded trailer over a certain weight. The SuperTruss, though, creates such a sturdy connection with your SuperHitch trailer hitch that you can still maintain a high weight capacity. To get the highest capacity possible, use a standard weight distribution system with the TorkLift towing setup.

The SuperTruss uses both of the receivers on your TorkLift SuperHitch to ensure a sturdy, secure connection. The solid shank of the extension's top tube slides into your top receiver, and the extension's lower compression tube installs in your bottom receiver. Each tube is held in place with the hitch pins and clips that were included with your SuperHitch. The connection between the extension and your hitch is reinforced with 2 sturdy steel collars that bolt around the tubes of the SuperTruss.

To give you absolute peace of mind, lateral support chains connect to the hitch and the extension on either side of your setup. Just attach one end of each chain to the extension and secure the opposite end to your SuperHitch. Then tighten the chains with the integrated turnbuckles. These chains not only provide extra security to keep the extension in place in your hitch, but they also transfer some of the weight back from the extension to your frame-mounted hitch.

How to Determine the SuperTruss Length You Need

If the camper is mounted on the truck:

Measure from the face of the truck's rear bumper to the outside edge of the camper's bumper. This is the length of the extension that you need.

If the camper is not mounted on the truck:

1. Measure from the inside of the front of your truck bed to the outside face of the truck's rear bumper.

2. Measure the camper's overall floor length from the rubber bumpers at the front to the outside edge of the rear bumper.

3. Find the difference between these 2 figures by subtracting. The difference is the length of the extension that you need.

  • Hitch Extender Recommendation Towing 7,500 lb Trailer
If you use the Reese Elite hitch extender part # RP45292 in your 2-1/2 inch hitch at the 24 inch length with a weight distribution system you'd have an 8,000 lb capacity. That would be the only way to get an extension with the needed capacity. For a properly rated weight distribution system then you'd need the Reese Steadi-Flex kit part # RP66560 which has integrated sway control and you'd be set.

  • Picking Out Shorter Torklift SuperTruss Extension for 2004 Ford F-250 Plus SuperHitch Fit
There are campers for truck beds that do hang past the rear bumper quite a bit like you mentioned which is why you see a lot of talk about 36 inch and 48 inch long extensions. That said, since yours is only 24 inch you're best off going with the shorter 28 inch size # TLE1524 that you mentioned and you'd be good. The correct Torklift SuperHitch that fits your 2004 Ford F-250 is the part # TLF1002-30 and will work great with the hitch extension. With this and the extension you'd be set.

The longest extension available that will work with the factory trailer hitch receiver on your 2014 Dodge Ram 3500 is the Trailer Hitch Extender # e48YR. You will need to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch receiver to the edge of your truck bed camper to see if this extension is long enough. Keep in mind that a hitch extender like the # e48YR will reduce your trailer hitch receivers capacities by 50%, and has a max tongue weight rating of 350lbs and a max...

This extension is 14" long from the center of hitch pin hole to center of hitch pin hole, it can be adjusted to 12" length as well. • Hitch Extender Needed with 600 lbs Tongue Weight and 7,000 lbs Towing for a 2012 Ford F-350
I have an option that will work for you, however, there are no 24 inch hitch extenders with a 600 lb tongue weight and 7,000 lb towing capacities. The capacities you need will require a special setup when extended out 24 inches. Your best option would be to remove your existing trailer hitch and install the TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Class V Trailer Hitch, # TLF1002-30. The issue is we don't have any with the exception of the SuperTruss # TLE1524 that will handle a 7500 lb capacity. That extension requires a special hitch receiver. What you can use is the Curt Ball Mount 3/4" Rise or 2" Drop, Extra Long # D-26. This ball mount has a 7500 lb capacity and is 12-5/8 inches from center of pin hole to center of hitch ball hole.
