Features to know about

Keep Your Clean Look: Hidden Cross Tube Stays Out of Sight

This hitch gives you the towing ability you need without changing your vehicle’s appearance. The cross tube mounts behind the rear bumper and only the 2" x 2" receiver is visible underneath. Once it’s installed, it looks like it came from the factory that way. You keep that clean, flush finish instead of a bulky hitch hanging below the bumper.

Haul What You Need Safely: Class II Strength for Light Towing and Racks

With a 2,000 lbs maximum gross trailer weight and 300 lbs maximum tongue weight, this Class II hitch handles light duty towing and everyday accessories. It’s great for bike racks, cargo carriers, or small trailers without worrying about stability or strength. The receiver opening is the standard 2", so most common racks and towing gear fit right in.

Install It Yourself: Bolt-On Design with No Drilling or Welding

If you like projects you can do at home, this is built for you. The hitch uses existing mounting points and bolts directly to the frame—no drilling or welding required. Once in place, it lines up perfectly under the bumper for a precise fit that saves time and effort during installation.

Built to Last: Eco-Friendly Alloy with Rust-Resistant Powder Coat

The blend of aluminum, steel, and stainless steel gives this hitch a strong yet lightweight structure that stands up to years of use. The black powder coat finish protects against rust and corrosion, keeping it looking good through rain or road salt. Each hitch is made from recycled materials and tested using Finite Elemental Analysis to meet SAE J684 towing safety standards.

Very sturdy hitch. I installed it solo on my 2014 Mazda 3 sedan in 1-½ hours. The written instructions were accurate and complete. The crossbar is completely hidden making for an attractive installation. Ground clearance (bottom of receiver to ground) is a bit skinny at 9-½ inches; but that's because of the car's low clearance. The distance from hitch pin to the rear of the bumper is approximately 5 inches.

One year and still working great!

Naomi was the representative who helped me Select the proper hitch for a bike rack that I needed to be installed in my 2014 Mazda. She was kind and eager to help and immediately identified the rack that I needed. I would recommend E trailer and Naomi to anyone seeking to have a hitch put on for whatever reason it be at camping or a bike rack, etc. Keep up the good work and take care Naomi. Be well. Brahman.

Fairly easy installation, with a unique installation tool.I installed the hitch on a 2018 Mazda 3 4 door and it went very smooth. My son and I installed it in about 90 minutes. Very stout 2" hitch that should provide years of use for him and his bike.

Read the instructions carefully and you'll have no problem installing it. The tool I mentioned is a wire with a spring on the end. Though it's not used as a spring, it's used to thread the bolt onto it so you can pull it and the backing plate through the hole in the frame to reach the other side. Ingenious way of doing this.

Everything is included with the kit, even some edging to put around the cut out in the bottom of the bumper that the receiver pulls up to. Again, very well thought out.

We are very pleased with the robustness of the hitch and would definitely recommend this hitch to anyone thinking about putting one on their vehicle.

After a year of use, I have nothing but positive things to say about the hitch. My son uses it quite frequently to carry his bike and carrier when he comes home and the hitch has been flawless. We really like the hidden design of the hitch. It truly feels like its part of the car and was a factory install. If youre on the fence about this hitch, Id pull the trigger and get it.

@Lou This is awesome to hear Lou. I am glad the install went well for you and that you had some help! The spring wire, or fish wire as they call it, is such a small thing that makes a huge difference. I am glad you and your son are enjoying it and getting some use out of it. The hidden design is super nice, especially on your Mazda making it look clean and like its meant to be there. Does your son use it often with his bike carrier?

Received product in excellent time. Product fits perfectly for my Mazda3 2014. Easy installation even for us amateurs. It would had been a bit easier if it had two guide wires but only one is sent. Also we could not find how tight to torque the bolts. Excellent product, very happy with.
by:
Solid construction, very well hidden hitch. I would definitely recommend this for anyone wanting a hitch that is the least visible possible.
by:
Great hitch, gives my small car so many more options when carrying bikes and cargo. Install wasn't hard but it was involved because you had to remove the rear bumper. But I'm happy with the low profile so you won't notice it when nothing is on the hitch.

PS removing the bumper is easy, it's just screw and clips just read the instructions since there is pictures and anyone can do it.

I like the product. Is strong. I like that once installed you see only the receiver. Great for bike rack. I think installment instructions could be improve. Will be great to add images.
by:
Great product. I’ve towed a 1500lb trailer a couple of times over 150 miles one way with no issues. Also it doubles as a sturdy bike rack holder.
by:
Very easy to install and I like the look of only the receiver showing. I have done other hitches that required removal of the rear plastic bumper, a delicate task. This hitch does not. An easy hour job but an assistant is very useful so you can slowly guide the hitch up to the frame without dislodging the bolts that will attach it.

Delivery was on time. Fits nicely on my 2017 Mazda 3. it is good to install it with 2 people. Basically installation was as described in the videos but if you are installing it the first time it takes more time and reassurance of each step.
by:
Works well for my needs. I attach a platform for hauling a motorized wheelchair. It works well on our little mazda car.

Fast delivery, easy return of an incorrect order and a solid looking product. Just make sure you order the X7303 version if you have the Mazda 3 sedan.

  • Hitch And Bike Rack For A 2016 Mazda 3
Hi Jose! You didn't mention if you have a 2016 Mazda 3 Sedan or Hatchback, so I have options for hitches on both. Sedan: EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7303 Sedan or Hatchback: Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11377 If you have the Sedan, definitely grab the EcoHitch. The 2" receiver gives you significantly more options for carrying a bike rack. I did see one review online (I went through a lot of different sites) that said...

  • Can The Kuat Pivot 2 # PVP20B Be Used On A Class II Trailer Hitch Receiver
Hey Eric, Using the Kuat Pivot 2 # PVP20B with the class 2 EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7303 would go against the manufacturer's intended use and would void your warranty, with the possibility of the adapter failing while you're out on the road. The Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender # Y02483 doesn't list a class rating requirement, but as with any adapter using this will reduce the capacity of the trailer hitch by 50% so you might run into some issues with...

  • What Class Hitch is the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2018 Mazda 3?
The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7303 based on capacity is comparable to a class II hitch. It does have the 2 inch receiver for compatible accessories similar to the class III and higher hitches but the max tongue weight for this particular hitch is 300 lbs. It can use those larger accessories you will just be restricted to 300 lbs tongue weight.

  • Why Does EcoHitch for 2014 Mazda 3 Sedan Not Fit Hatchback
Hi Connor; it looks like all of the hatchback models have dual exhaust which is why the # 306-X7303 and other hitches for the sedan won't fit. This isn't uncommon on vehicles like the Mazda 3. Even if the exhaust allowed for it, sometimes there are enough differences in the body/bumper that you can't mount the hitch without butchering the fascia meaning a different design is required. I'm assuming you have the 2014 Mazda 3 Hatchback so you need the # 306-X7305 instead.

  • Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for 2018 Mazda 3 GS
Hi Emil, I'm happy to help you find the right hitch for your Mazda3 GS! I recommend the EcoHitch Class 2 because it has a concealed cross tube, so it's going to look much cleaner and more seamless on your Mazda. If you have a sedan, the EcoHitch you’ll need is part # 306-X7303. If you have a hatchback, you’ll want part # 306-X7305. The only downside with the EcoHitch is that the installation is a little more involved — it does require removing the bumper. So if you're planning to install...

  • What Is The Best Way To Remove Bolts Installed Inside The Frame Using A Fish Wire?
Removing bolts installed using a fish wire is tricky but it can be done. The best way to remove the hardware from the frame is to use a flexible magnet, and pull the bolts out of the frame. Fish wires can help with this also. You will need a fish wire for a 1/2" bolt like part # C58400. Since the EcoHitch # 306-X7303 is rated for more weight than the curt hitch, it is a very good idea to remove the old bolts, and use the new hardware that comes with the EcoHitch.

  • Installing a Trailer Hitch on a 2016 Mazda 3 Sedan
Though I can confirm the EcoHitch # 306-X7303 will absolutely fit a 2016 Mazda 3, we have yet to do an install with said hitch. However, we do have an install we did with a Draw-Tite # 24912 on a 2015 Mazda 3. There will be a few subtle differences, but they do attach the same way. I included that video for you to take a look at.

  • Will A Hitch Void the Warranty Of My 2018 Mazda 3 Grand Touring and Which Hitch is Recommended
The act of installing a hitch on the 2018 Mazda 3 Grand Touring will not void the warranty because you are covered under the Magnuson–Moss warranty act which prohibits manufacturers from voiding a warranty for adding aftermarket parts unless that after market part caused damage the vehicle. With that said, if Mazda does not recommend towing anything with the Mazda 3 Grand Touring (more than likely they mention it in the owners manual) if towing damages the transmission or any other mechanical...

  • Can A 2017 Mazda 3 Handle The Tongue Weight From An E-Bike
The owner's manual for a 2017 Mazda 3 does state not to tow a trailer and has nothing about the tongue weight capacity of the vehicle, but instead talks about not overloading vehicle with cargo. You should see a sticker in the door frame with "The combination of weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed XXX kg or XXX lbs so you'll just want to remain under this capacity. Realistically you're only adding an extra 20-30lbs to the hitch/bike rack and shouldn't have an issue unless...

When it comes to installing a trailer hitch on your 2015 Mazda 3 Sedan that is completely hidden I recommend The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2 inch # 306-X7303. The trailer hitch has an easy, bolt-on installation with no drilling required, and has a black powder coat finish that offers superior rust protection. The EcoHitch Class II hitches for your 2016 Mazda 3, part # 306-X7305 for a hatchback or part # 306-X7303 for a sedan, will technically fit with the Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier for 2" Hitches # UF48-979033 and the weight of the carrier plus your bike will be under the 300 lb tongue weight rating, but this carrier is also rated for a Class III hitch so it isn't advisable. For your 2017 Mazda 3 Sedan I recommend the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7303 due to it having a 2" trailer hitch receiver which offers quite a few more options when it comes to bike racks and other accessories. The other two trailer hitch receivers available, the Curt # C11377 and Draw-Tite # 24912, are Class I receivers with 1-1/4" receivers which really limits the bike racks available as not all 1-1/4" bike racks work with Class I receivers.
