Trailer Hitch for a 2002 Ford F-350 with Knapheide Utility Body

Question:

I need to know if the Curt #15410 receiver hitch will fit my 2002 F350 with a Knapheide utility body. Do you have the actual dimensions of this hitch? I am measuring from the mounting hole at the very back of the frame. Thanks.

Usually they put utility bodies like the one on your 2002 Ford F-350 on the cab and chassis versions of the truck (rather than the standard models that would come with a regular bed). You would need to look at the hitches for the cab and chassis models linked to the right.

These hitches fit a frame width of 34 inches. This is measured from the outside of one frame rail to the outside of the other frame rail. If your measurement is 34 inches then you would look at the cab and chassis hitches linked to the right. If it is more than 34 inches you would look at the regular model hitches that you were originally viewing.

Hitch # C15845 for cab and chassis models measures 6 inches from the top of the receiver to the bottom of the truck frame. This is important because utility bodies are often lower than stock beds.

For more drop, a weld-on hitch like # 41990-16 might be your best bet. This hitch has a 2 inch receiver tube, but offers an impressive 16,000 lb towing/1600 lb tongue weight capacity. The distance from the top of the mounting bracket to the top of the receiver tube would be 14-1/2 inches.

On hitch # C15410 for regular pickup models with the wider frame the height is 5.32 inches from the bottom of the frame to the top of the cross tube.
