Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I chose Draw-tite because they are built very well and this one is no different. The welds are done well and I have no fear that this product will serve me well. The install wasnt to bad for a DIY type like me and the fit was excellent, only took a few hours. Knowing that I can now be pulled out of a bad situation or pull someone else out is comforting with the help of a hitch mounted winch. The Price was right and etrailer shipped it out fast although packing could use a smaller box . Oh yeah, UPS sure tested the toughness of this receiver ! . Great product and great service from etrailer

im very satisfied with my front receiver. ive used it as a recovery point,to move trailers, and as a mount for bike rack and cargo holder. if i had a winch platethat would be very handy too.
etrailerhad a fair price, quick shipping, and overall great customer service. i would use them again andrecommend to a friend as well.

Works great. You should promote front hitches. Ive gotten many comments but i dont think most know these exist.

by:
1996 Jeep Cherokee

Hitch went on well, no missing or incorrect hardware.
One bolt (RH front) was a little tricky, ended up pulling the bumper away a little to get it started, but not a big deal.
Thickness of materials and welding are good.
Had to notch the air dam plastic piece in three places, easily done with tin snips and a utility knife.
Very happy overall. Tucks up in tight, doesn't hang down, not even noticeable. Now I have a winch mount, but even more importantly I have a really good pull point on the front, which these Cherokees lack.
Would certainly recommend.

1988 Jeep Wagoneer

Perfect fit for my 88 jeep Wagoneer Xj (Cherokee) Was easy to install matched right up with pre existing holes in the frame. Use it frequently to carry bike rack in the front with travel trailer in the back.

Still working great! Very handy to push travel trailer into those hard to fit spots.

by:

Excellent quality, good fit, was very easy to install and only the two holes to drill into the Jeep frame.

by:
1999 Jeep Cherokee

Bolted right up to 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport. May try a home snow plow on it at a later date. Will also use as pull point next time Jeep has a breakdown or whatever. Order processed quickly with fast shipping. Very pleased.

After a year have enjoyed using the product to move my trailer around the yard and into the garage. Very precise way of moving any trailer around.

by:

Great quality but fishing the front bolts in is no fun but can be done.

by:
1992 Jeep Cherokee

Worked perfect on a 1992 Cherokee. Easy install with the open end design to fit around the sway bar mount. That way you are not trying to hold it up and bolt it on. A tip start your rear sway bar bolt a few turns, then slide the reciever in. Be careful not to let it rock forward or you will know how well built it is! Then start the front sway bar mounts. Go just enough to keep it in place when you drill two holes in the frame to bolt it down in the front. This mounted just below my bumper and will not cause me any ground clearance issues. Well built I mounted a cradle and 10k pound winch. Great product!!!!

2001 Jeep Cherokee

Pieces welded were not align properly making holes misalignment. The company that making these hitches need to do a better job.

Thank you for your review. It does sound like it is possible the hitch was flexed out of place in shipping. This is an easy fix. I have attached a helpful article below to help you flex it back into place.

1992 Jeep Cherokee

Worth every penny!I bought this hitch for the front of my '92 XJ Cherokee as an offroad recovery point. I also needed it to replace a different brand. The other brand (Hidden Hitch) hung down real low in the front of my Jeep and was constantly getting banged & hung up when I went offroad. I replaced it with this Draw Tite hitch and the difference is night vs. day. This hitch tucks up real tight to the body and you can barely see it. No more snags or curious stares. Best front recovery point for the XJ Cherokee.

Jeep Cherokee

Front ReceiverGreat product, I mounted it on the front of my Cherokee and use it with a fabricated base plate to tow my Jeep behind my motorhome, plus I also launch my boat using it. I have also mounted my motorcycle carrier on it.

by:
Jeep Cherokee

Product is well made. Bolt hole clearance was very tight and made it a real challenge to line up on my Cherokee. Also had to remove front bumper to install the 2 front bolts and plates.

by:
1997 Jeep Cherokee

Have not installed yet, but looks like a well made product , nice finish, the welding looks great. Going to use it on my 97 Jeep Cherokee XJ for a winch set up on the front of my rig. Nice talking to Emily, knows her stuff. Fast service. Thank you.

A very handy hitch

1999 Jeep Cherokee

Exactly what I was looking for at an excellent price. But above all, the shipping was unbelievably fast!!

by:

Great product and amazing customer service. To have any company follow up with a customer a year later to see how they like the product they purchased not only shows confidence in the products they sell but also confirms for the customer that they purchased from the right company.

by:

Used to move 26ft pontoon in a tight approach into a garag

by:

Great product easy install has been great in recovery situations and to haul the jeep around would buy again!

by:

Can’t believe how fast it came, within four days with free shipping.
Bolt holes were slightly off, had to file the holes for about ten minutes to get it to fit, but it worked great, solid as a rock.

by:

I don't have it installed yet but I am impressed with the quality and workmanship of this hitch. Instruction are prcise and easy to undertand. I will be buying additional product from you in the near future...

  • Does the Air Dam on a 1998 Jeep Cherokee have to be Removed to Install a Front Mount Trailer Hitch
The air dam does need to be trimmed (or removed) to install front mount trailer hitch # 65009. The skid shield, if present, would have to be removed. I have included a link to the installation instructions for this hitch so you can see the installation procedure.

  • What Size Holes Need to be Drilled to Install Curt Front Hitch # 31084 and Draw-Tite # 65009
For the Curt front mount trailer hitch, you will need to drill two 17/32 inch holes in the bottom of the frame rails. There should not be anything inside the frame rail so you should not worry about punching through with the drill. Take a look at the instructions link I have provided for you. The Draw-Tite hitch # 65009 requires a 1/2 inch hole. I have included a link to the instructions for it as well.

  • Can Front Mount Trailer Hitch and Base Plates be Installed on 2001 Jeep Cherokee at the Same Time
With base plates installed on your 2001 Jeep Cherokee, # 1418-3 or # 1418-1, you will not be able to also install front mount trailer hitch # 65009. The issue is that both the base plates and the hitch install in the same place and occupy much of the same space so both cannot be installed at the same time. The same goes for Curt hitch # 31084. Neither the base plates nor front hitches are designed for or rated for being stacked or sandwiched. They are all meant to be in direct contact...

  • Solution for 1995 Jeep Cherokee that Needs a Base Plate Kit and Front Hitch
We get this question pretty frequently, but you will have to pick one or the other. Or have both and only install one at a time depending on your needs at the time. The front hitch part # 65009 and the base plate kit part # 1418-1 are both confirmed as fits for your 1995 Jeep Cherokee but they use the same install location and holes on your vehicle frame so they can't "peacefully coexist" together. The installation for both is pretty easy though so if you aren't opposed to it, you could...

  • Front Mounted Hitch Options For A 2019 GMC Quigley 4x4 Van
Hey Matthew, There isn't a custom-fit front mounted trailer hitch for your 2019 GMC Quigley 4x4 Van so the only option would be a weld-on adjustable-fit trailer hitch. You'll need to measure from the frame to the height you want the receiver tube to sit at in order to find the right rise/drop. We offer the following rise/drops: Draw-Tite 7" Drop # 41990-07 16" Drop # 41990-16 Curt 3" Drop # 15901 9" Drop # C47CR 10.865" Drop # 15902 11-1/2" Drop # 15903 18" Drop # C99CR These will...

  • Why Do Tow Hooks Need To Be Removed In Order To Install A Front-Mounted Trailer Hitch

  • Front Mount Hitch Receiver Part # 65009
Draw-tite, Reese and Hidden Hitch are all part of a larger parent company, Cequent. The hitches are marketed under different brand names and for the most part are essentially the same usually. That being said, there are times when one of the name brands is manufactured in house and another may be outsourced for manufacture or there may be a small design difference between the parts. This is the reason for pricing differences on the different brands.

  • Does Skid Plate Need To Be Removed To Install Draw-Tite Front Mount Hitch On 1993 Jeep Cherokee?
It is possible that you can trim the front skid plate enough to work around the Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 65009 on your 1993 Jeep Cherokee, but this is not something we have done and since Draw-Tite mentions it needs to be removed it may take a bit of custom fabrication to make it work. Another option is to go ahead and install the # 65009 and then having a skid plate made to fit around it so you get the winch mounting point you are wanting while also keeping the additional...

  • Can Vehicle that is Flat Towable be Towed on Tow Dolly
The owners manual of a vehicle is the final authority on whether a vehicle can be flat towed. Since yours says it's okay you'd be fine. The steering wheel will need to be locked so that the dolly does not hit the side of the vehicle around turns.

There is no front hitch available for a 2016 or 2017 Kia Sorento.
