Features to know about

Rated to Handle the Heaviest 5th Wheels

Q Hitch installed in truck bed

This hitch is built from heavy-duty steel and rated for 25,000 lbs GTW, giving you the muscle to handle even the biggest, fully loaded 5th-wheel campers with confidence. And it gives you room to grow if you move to a larger 5th wheel down the line. Plus, the protective powder coat helps resist rust and wear over time, so you can rely on it season after season. This sturdy construction provides a strong base to a hitching system that feels just as solid when you back in and hitch up.

Full-Contact Jaw Connection

Q Hitch open jawsQ Hitch closed jaws

Slide-bar and single-jaw hitches are known for leaving too much room around the king pin. That looseness leads to noise, slop, and an unsettling feel on the road. This dual-jaw system wraps tightly around the king pin from all sides to create a stable connection that feels locked in as soon as you hitch up. It holds firm to reduce noise and cut down on movement. You'll notice the difference the first time you tow.

Know When You're Locked

Q Hitch color coded indicator

Before you pull away, a quick glance at the color-coded indicator shows you exactly what the jaws are doing: red means uncoupled, yellow means ready to couple, and green means you're locked in for towing.

Q Hitch indicator on handle

There's no need to climb into the bed to check the connection since you can easily see the color at a glance. If you've ever thought the jaws were locked only to find out they weren't, you know how bad things can get. This system keeps that from happening.

Quiet, Fluid Motion on the Road

You'll feel the change as soon as you're moving. The hitch head pivots smoothly on a spherical axial bearing, allowing full 360-degree movement. As the head moves, rubber bushings help absorb shock and reduce the jerking motion that leads to chucking. It's not just about softening the impact of rough roads. It's about helping you stay more comfortable behind the wheel by reducing the constant shifting and jolts that wear you down over time. From campground runs to multi-state road trips, the ride feels more stable, more responsive, and less like a fight with every bump.

Remove the Hitch in Two Steps

When the trip is over and you need your truck bed back, the hitch breaks down in two steps without tools. Just pull the first set of pins to lift off the head, then a second set to remove the base. This separates the hitch into manageable pieces and makes it easier to handle on your own. The parts are still relatively heavy, but this design takes some of the strain out of the process. It's a solid solution for anyone switching between trip mode and work mode where being able to clear your bed matters.

Everything You Need to Install

This hitch ships as a complete package with the head, legs, custom-fit brackets, base rails, and all necessary hardware. The brackets are designed specifically for your vehicle and line up with existing holes in the truck's frame, making installation faster and more straightforward. Then, the above-bed rails mount to the frame and provide a strong, standardized platform for the hitch to lock into. You've got everything you need to get it installed right the first time, whether you're doing it yourself or taking it to a shop.

Video Transcript for An In-Depth Look at the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit for Chevy/GMC

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Custom Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit for the Chevrolet and GMC trucks. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 1999 to 2010 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500 models, with either the six and a half foot bed or the eight foot bed. And on a custom fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle. That'll show you if this will work for your application.

Now these brackets right here, they are designed to mount beneath your truck bed to provide the attachment point for your fifth wheel rails. Now those fifth wheel rails, we do sell separately on our website. They go by part number C16104 or C16204. And just give you an idea what those rails look like, they come in a set of two, and again, they'll attach to these mounting brackets on your vehicle. This provides a custom fit by mounting to the existing holes in your vehicle's frame.

That will minimize the amount of drilling that's required to install these, and it'll cut the installation time in half when compared with universal bracket kits. If you notice, it does include all the necessary hardware to install it. It does even come with this nice extra bracket for relocation of the electrical box. And it comes with a nice set of instructions with pictures that'll describe how these parts install. The finish on these brackets is a nice black powder coat finish to resist corrosion.

And these will work with the BMW, CURT, Draw-Tite, and Husky above bed fifth wheel trailer hitches. But that should do it for the review on the CURT Custom Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit for the Chevrolet and GMC trucks..

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit for 2001 Chevy 2500HD
For your 2001 Chevy 2500 HD, your towing capacity for a 5th wheel is based on the Gross Combined Weight Rating. Your truck will have a sticker in the driver's door frame that states the GVWR of your truck. For your 5th Wheel, I recommend beginning with the custom rail kit # C16418-204. This kit will give you custom brackets to allow you to mount the brackets to your frame with only the need to drill one hole in the frame on each side. The other holes are already in the frame that...

Hey Austin! The correct set of 5th wheel rails for a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500 are going to be the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC item # C16418-204. This set of rails is industry standard which means it will work with most 5th wheel hitches on the market. The brackets are custom fit and install in pre-existing holes in your Sierra's frame. I have linked an installation video below so you can see how to get them installed. To make towing with a 5th wheel easier, I recommend...

  • How to Increase Cab Clearance When Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 2004 GMC Sierra 6-1/2 Bed
In order to choose a replacement pin box for your '89 Featherlite Holiday Rambler you can either look for a pin box number on your current pin box (like 1621 or 0719 for example) but if you can't locate a number the next best thing to do is take measurements of your pin box. If you can measure the width, distance from the center of the king pin to the first set of installed bolts, and then the distance between bolt holes horizontally and vertically I can use the table from the linked helpful...

Henry, it sounds like you're looking for something like the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16180 with the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC # C16418-204. This hitch has a 25k capacity, is made by Curt, and will work great with your toy hauler. Ideally I'd say you do no drilling to install the rails but for what you're looking for the best we can do is the semi-custom install kit which will require less drilling than a universal hitch but still some drilling....

The two most common kits for your 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500HD are the Reese part # RP50064-58 and the Curt # C16418-204 which you can check out and let me know if either brackets match what you have.
