Secure, Interlocking Two-Piece Jaw

A16 Two-Piece Interlocking Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, interlocking, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

A16 Color Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

Curt rebranded this fifth-wheel trailer hitch by changing its name from Q16 to A16 in 2016. All features and specifications remained the same.

Customer service for product selection and order entry were excellent and focused on my interests and needs. The hitch, custom installation kit, and harness were shipped very quickly and arrived sooner than expected. Everything arrived in excellent condition. Assembly and installation instructions were very clear and specific, and I was able to assemble and install everything with no problems and in a very reasonable amount of time. Total cost was roughly half of what it would have been if I had purchased the products and had them installed by a dealer. I am very satisfied with my experience dealing with etrailer.com, and would highly recommend them to anyone shopping for towing products. 294100

I like the dual jaws. They hold the king pin tighter than the slide bar style. I also like the color coded hook indicator on the front, although a complete visual inspection should be done each time you hook. The only shortcomings I can see are the height, it's a little short even on the highest adjustment, and the quality of the Chinese fasteners leave a little to be desired. Other than that, it pulls securely and quietly. It couples and uncouples very smoothly. Overall it is a nice heavy duty piece. 137021

The first one I bought had some internal problems and became very loose around the kingpin when towing. I talked to an Etrailer rep and he put me in touch with the Curt manufacturer directly who sent me a new hitch and had me send the old one back at no expense to me. I was very pleased with Etrailers and Curts customer service. They listened, understood, and solved the problem very quickly once it was identified. Thank you, and I WILL look to you for my further trailer needs.

I am writing this review more for etrailer, than for the hitch. I am happy with the hitch, and it is what I expected, but more than that, I am happy with the support that etrailer personnel provided. They researched the product, gave me all the options, and made sure that it was exactly what we needed. It is rare to find the level of support that etrailer gives their customers, and great prices to go with it! 466656

Purchased this hitch, install kit, and wiring harness for a new to me 2015 F-250. After watching the installation video and reviewing the included instructions the install went smoothly. The only deviation from the instructions was instead of using a unibit to drill the 9/16" holes in the bed I used a Rotobroach hole cutter(the holes are cleaner and the bit does not drift. I hooked in to my fifth wheel for the first time on Saturday. 696986

Dirt gets into where the rubber bushings are and it makes a lot of squeaky noise. Also it is difficult to lock and unlock it. When we are pulling it rocks our RV a lot more than our previous hitch. We have travel friends with the same hitch and they have also complained about the rocking. Thank you for following up. 859678

My Curt A16 hitch came promptly and was very well packaged without any damage. Installation on the rails was easy as there is good tolerance in the connections. Removing the two main separate components took some patience and I recommend silicone spray on rubber parts for continued attachment/detachment. This particular hitch was very stiff and it helped to spray the jaws liberally with silicone/WD-40 and apply a couple strokes of grease. This is a rather simple, strong hitch. It closes very tight on the kingpin and towing over rough roads gives very good control. Being able to remove the top part of the hitch is a very strong advantage. Pay close attention to the directions for hookup in that alignment requires the RV hitch to be just below the top of the hitch plate. Initially unhooking was a bit challenging for me as I was used to a previous slide bar hitch and the Curt does not spread the jaws all the way open. It does unhook well after limbered up a bit. I do recommend you periodically apply some good quality car wax to protect the finish. 793532

I purchased both the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs - C16120, and Reese Pull Pin Lock Plates for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - Qty 4 - RP58093 for my F350 SD 4X4 Crew Cab Long Bed. I'm pulling a 30' Retro 5th. Wheel and at times I pull my tandem axle UTV Trailer (Double Trailers) . I already had the rails installed in my truck, this fit right in and I used the new Pins and Lock Plates for securing to truck. I have pulled all over from South Dakota and the Northwest. The Hitch has performed Flawlessly. No bucking, nor clunking. Very quiet and smooth ride. I would recommend this set up to anyone for convenience of Hook up and Disconnect, Excellent towing, quiet, and the security of the lock pins. I use Disc locks to prevent access for bolt cutters. 792319

Extremely pleased with the rails and hitch purchased from etrailer! The video and printed directions were very informative. One caveat though, the bolts inside the frame on the custom kit (2017Chevy 2500hd) are tough, 2 people are needed. We used magnet rods. The hitch(Curt A16) is great but the shipping was FANTASTIC. Ordered on 4/29 and received on 5/1. 2 days!!! Thank you Jane S. and etrailer!! 792028

Mechanics had some issues installing on Ford 2019 F250 - so cost me a little more but looks nice now done. etrailer staff member very knowledgeable, and item arrived sooner than expected which allowed me to get it installed sooner. Can't wait to hook it up to my new (to me) 2013 Forest River Wildwood Heritage Glen 37 ft 5th wheel trailer. I like that this hitch is lighter than others - I am 60 yr. woman so weight is issue when moving it to use truck for other uses. I can unlock it and move to front of bed and use the rest without someone else's help. 760642

  • How To Use the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch On a 2017 Ford F-350 with the B&W Turnoverball
There is indeed an odd issue with using the Curt X5 5th Wheel Base Rails Adapter part # 16310 on a 2017 Ford F-350 with the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch. That said, the Demco 5th Wheel Base Rails Adapter part # DM6140 will work with the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch on your 2017 Ford F-350 and it allows you to use the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16120 so this is what I recommend to save some cash but the B&W Companion Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter part...

  • Is a Dual Jaw System Better Than a Slide Bar System for a 2018 Ram 2500 Without Pucks
You are absolutely right! The slide bar design you have now is a good entry level setup but as you mentioned there is a good amount of chucking and jarring that is associated with this. The reason for this is because there is just a flat edge against the round kingpin which works but does not produce the best ride. The dual locking jaws are going to do a much better job of holding the kingpin tighter which translates to minimal chucking and jarring. For your 2018 Ram 2500, I recommend...
