Today we're going to review part number SW1145230. This is the Superwinch Terra Series ATV winch. Uses a synthetic rope, which is used with the Hawse fairlead right here and has a 4,500 pound weight capacity. Now this is a high performance ATV winch which is designed for heavy duty recreation, work duty application. Has a completely sealed motor to the clutch, so it keeps out water, mud, snow, and dust. Has a sealed 1.6 horsepower permanent magnet motor right here, delivers quick safe line pulling.
It will pull more weight longer and faster and with a lower amp draw than comparable winches. Does include this rubber handheld remote, has a 10 foot long cord. It let's you operate the winch from a safe distance. The toggle switch right on here on this remote powers the load in and out. It does plug into this remote socket assembly right here. With the cap on it you can see when you pop that cap off there's your plug-in for your remote.
Now this remote socket can be mounted in a remote location such as your ATV handlebars. Now it also includes a handlebar-mounted rocker switch which will let you operate the winch from the seat of your ATV. Mounting brackets, screws, and lock nuts are all included for the installation. Over here it has an ergonomic three-spool clutch knob which ensures fast payout. You can just turn this just like that. It will have arrows on it.
Free spool this way. If you turn it that way it's engaged, so it's very easy to go either which way. The 1/4" diameter AmSteel Blue synthetic rope is strong as steel yet lightweight. It's 50' long. It does include this removable latched hook, this anti-abrasion sleeve, and a nylon handsaver strap. This does mount all over this all-steel drum right in here.
It's specifically designed to handle synthetic ropes. This Hawse fairlead is a blue anodized fairlead, protects the synthetic rope from any damage. This gives you automatic 100% load-holding mechanical and dynamic brake, which will provide complete rope control. The remotely mounted solenoid right here is sealed for protection in all weather conditions. The differential three-stage planetary gear with the oversize full metal gears provide a strong yet quiet operation. Has a very nice, heavy duty textured finish which will stand up to even the harshest conditions. It does use color-coded wiring right here. It's all six-gauge wire, and the circuit breakers which are included for installation Now a few specs on this: the rated line pull with a single layer of wire rope around the drum is 4,500 pounds static load. The motor is a 12-volt DC. The line pull at zero pounds gives you a power draw of 21 amps. the line speed is 15' per minute. The line pull at 4,500 pounds, the power draw is 178 amps and the line speed is 5-1/2' per minute. The max continuous run time on this is 2 minutes. T gear ratio on the gear in this is 191 to 1. The breaking again is 100% load-holding dynamic and mechanical. Rough dimensions on this is about 15" long, about 4-1/2" wide, and almost 5" tall. Again, the synthetic rope is 50' long, 1/4" diameter. Does use a four-bolt mounting pattern. You can see is on the mounting platform right here. The winch weight of this is about 19 pounds. Does come with a one-year limited warranty on the solenoid and a limited lifetime warranty on the wench. That should do it for the review, part number SW1145230, the Superwinch Terra Series ATV winch with the synthetic rope and the Hawse fairlead with the 4,500 pound weight capacity. .

Hey Reno, there is a lot to say about this winch. If you are using your mounting plate from the Superwinch X3 it will require some filing because the mounting pattern is different. However, the fairlead should have lined up with the holes of the winch. That does sound like a quality control issue on Super winch's part. I can reach out to their quality control to find out what happened there so thank you for letting us know. The Superwinch Terra has the same motor as the old X3 but the weight capacity of this winch is actually more compared to the X3. I can see why the wiring diagram in the instructions is misleading but the blue to blue and black to black wiring that you mentioned is correct. The Superwinch Terra motor does have a 2 minute run time so it may be possible the motor is overheating and needs to cool down before it can pull your vehicle all the way into the trailer. It also has a 4,500 static load so if you are trying to winch a larger SUV or truck you may need more weight capacity. As far as the speed, it should be pulling the vehicle at a 5-1/2 foot per minute speed. Please let me know if it's not doing that and we can continue troubleshooting. Some of the common reasons for a slower moving winch are: the battery is weak or a weak ground connection. I know this seems like common sense but sometimes we miss these things! If you are looking to go with something with more weight capacity and more horse power, I recommend the one of the S Series Superwinch like part # SW1475201 this one will give you a 7500 lb line pull capacity and a 3.6 hp motor. Although you are looking at a higher price point.

I have an 04 Twin Peaks I bought used. Its in very nice shape. I use it a lot around the farm. Recently I used the winch. A warn 2500 and it worked fine for a short bit. I had to turn the quad around for a better angle. Now the winch only works to let out cable. I switch the wires on the winch and now it reals in but not out. What do I check now

Thanks so much for the reply. Since posting question I went through and cleaned all contacts. I also took the switch apart and yes it was corroded. I cleaned it up and when all was said and done it worked again. Thanks again this is my first quad and what a work horse it is. At 53 years old and taking care of a 200 acre farm I should have bought one many years ago. Thanks again have a great holiday. Merry Christmas.
