Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this ComeUp Seal Gen2 Off-Road Winch, trail edition. Now this premium recovery winch is going to let you pull your stuck vehicle out of the mud, snow, water, or ditch, or up steep inclines. This is gonna be perfect for your work trucks, your Jeeps, and other off-road vehicles. And this is designed for vehicles with a maximum GVW of 13,400 pounds. This has a rated line pole with a single synthetic rope around the drum of 20,000 pounds static load.
And the vehicle recovery capacity, again, is 13,400 pounds. And this is indeed a heavy duty winch. This weighs, with the rope, right about 140 pounds. So I needed help to get this up here on my table. So all that to say, if you are looking for a heavy duty winch and your vehicle can handle about 140 pounds on the front, this is going to be ideal for you.
This is really gonna be heavy duty, high power winch if you're looking for one. Now the sealed motor, gearbox, drum housing, the power unit, and contactor are waterproof to IP68 standards. So what that means for you is this winch is going to remain fully functional even when completely submersed in up to three feet of water. The seven horsepower series wound motor is gonna give you powerful, fast, and safe line pulling. The motor is more powerful, more efficient, and produces more torque than a permanent magnet motor.
The duty cycle is S3 5%, which is approximately 44 seconds on and 14 minutes off to allow it to cool down. And this does feature an overheat sensor that's going to trigger alerts if the motor temperature exceeds 212 degrees. The LEDs on the remotes are gonna glow red and alarm on the power unit is going to sound as well. So it's definitely gonna let you know if it's going to overheat. The sealed 400 amp contactor is gonna transmit power from the vehicle's battery to the winch motor.
And the battery leads are color coded as you can see over here and printed with the gauge size for easy installation. The power unit includes the contactor, aluminum housing with plastic sides, overheat alarm and wiring, and then the automatic mechanical cone brake structure holds 100% of the load while minimizing winch creep. And the cone-shaped break is mounted on the outside of the drum to keep damaging heat away from the motor and rope. This features an all-steel, three-stage planetary gear train that's gonna give you increased drum speed when compared with worm drives, and one or two stage planetary gear trains. The gear ratio is 343:1. And as I mentioned, you are going to get a wireless remote and a wired remote. So it's gonna be very easy to use the wired remote. We'll plug in right there, but this wireless remote is going to be waterproof, so it's gonna let you power the load in and out from up to 90 feet away. So that's a nice addition here. And then the free spooling clutch is going to ensure a fast rope payout, reduce wear on the motor, and the gearbox itself can be rotated in 90-degree increments, so you can get the clutch handle, no matter where, you can reach the clutch handle rather, no matter where you mount this winch. This 9/16 of an inch in diameter Dyneema SK75 synthetic rope is strong as steel, yet lightweight, and safer to handle. It is 55 feet long with a woven polyester sleeve, and the half inch forged steel BOSS hook L and nylon hand saver strap are included. So again, everything about this speaks of just heavy, of it being heavy duty, high quality, and this has a a heavy duty cast aluminum house fair lead. And the rounded fair lead hole is going to help prevent friction damage to the rope. And the black anodized finish is gonna look great, but also help prevent any corrosion buildup or anything like that. The winch itself supports a corrosion-resistant die cast aluminum motor, and the gearbox housings. And let's try that again. This does have a corrosion-resistant die cast aluminum motor and gearbox housings with matte black powder coat finish. There we go. And then the carbon seal motor tube is going to resist internal corrosion, and then the die cast aluminum rear tie bars and thick steel side frames are gonna help create a strong rigid winch body. So I said this over and over again, this is heavy duty, so it's going to hold up really well to virtually anything you throw up against it. Fuse kit is included. And if you're wondering about how big this is, the overall length from end to end, about 27 and an eighth inch, 27 1/8 inches long. The overall width at the widest point about eight and a half inches wide. And then the overall height is about 10 inches tall or so. The drum diameter is three and a half inches and it's eight inches long, that drum. It does include instructions, it includes hardware here, so it includes everything that you see here on my table before me. Been using and abusing the sealed 9.5 gen2 for a year now in a 5,000lb (loaded) 4runner with dual batteries. Has dozens of pulls on it now, between uprighting rigs, pulling 1 ton box Van's out of ditches, and yanking my own rig off rocks and out of beaver ponds. Its been extremely reliable, the all metal clutch lever is very easy and ergonomic to use. Having the red/green LEDs on the controller for a temp indicator is great when you've been working it hard with repeated pulls. No complaints, and I'm pretty picky.
I could not be happier with this purchase. The price was unbeatable, and I received the winch much quicker than I anticipated considering the shipping was free. It actually wound up sitting in my garage for several weeks while I performed some other modifications to my FJ Cruiser that had to be completed prior to installing the winch.
After finally getting everything prepared to handle the addition of the winch, I got it installed this past weekend. It fits perfectly in my after-market bumper and will give me considerable peace of mind in my future off-road adventures.

I have used it several times 4 wheeling and it has worked like intended. Easy to operate, and installation was simple. I have it installed on a 3rd Gen Tacoma TRD OffRoad with an aftermarket steel bumper. This winch model came without the remote control and I recently bought the add-on remote so I don't have to use the wired controller. It has got me unstuck several times in deep snow and mud, pulled my buddy out of trouble, and even used it to move a down large tree out of the way on a trail. I did have to replace the car battery as the original stock battery of the Tacoma did not have the recommended Amps to operate the winch.
One thing lacking in the instructions and installation manual is recommendations on a fuse.
Overall the winch has worked great and I have not had any issues with it.
Received the winch.... it was well packaged and arrived without damage. Install went smoothly as instructions are clear and make sense.
Havent had a chance to test it in the field yet but i have spooled it out and back in. The remote works great and the motor is quiet and fast.
