Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Purchased the Curt trailer hitch receiver, wiring harness, & ball mount for my 2004 Honda CR-V. Delivery was free and the items arrived within several days after I ordered. It took me about a hour by myself several weeks ago to install the wiring harness with all the parts that had to be removed & replaced to do it. It was a simple task thanks to the installation video on eTrailer's web site. I waited until my grandson was home from college to install the hitch receiver. Today it took the two of us less than a hour to mount it. Thanks again to eTrailer for the installation video provided to show step by step installation. The ball mount appears to be a good quality sturdy product. The purchase price was quite reasonable and I will shop at etrailer.com again. 250719

2003 Acura MDX

UHaul had put in a trailer wiring kit years back. It failed on me. When trying to see if it could be fixed I noticed that UHaul just cut into and patched their harness directly into the wires for my tail lights. This product is designed to fit into my Acura MDX exactly how Acura intended for a trailer harness to be added to the MDX. Not to use the only crappy product UHaul had to sell and certainly not to compromise the quality of wiring to my tail lights. Do yourself a favor and buy this product. It is not very expensive. Even if it is a couple bucks more than something you would find at your local auto parts store it is far superior and it is deigned to fit your vehicle. Other kits require splicing into wires and I have no idea why you would want to do if you have the time to get one of these shipped to you. I like that this installs into the cargo area and can be stored in the cargo area. My last unit used to hang down outside of the car and was always out in the elements. I took apart my plastic cargo area and installed this while I was on the phone. After watching the installation video I did not have to even read the included directions or even think about what I was doing. It was that easy. I finished my phone call and the complete installation within 5 minutes. I also like that this has a end cap that can be covered... It should not be out in the elements when stored in the cargo area, but it is a nice touch. A very quality product. Do it yourself to avoid the crap that others will do to your vehicle with parts not designed for your vehicle. 82209

2006 Honda CR-V

This hitch was exactly as advertised and fit my CRV perfectly!!! Used spray bottle with soap & water to lube the two upper muffler rear hangers and they slid off with little prying needed (did not need to remove the lower hanger in front of muffler). etrailer's installation videos for installing both this hitch and corresponding 118336 wiring harness were spot-on and very helpful (also a good video on the Curt website). Took my time tightening the hitch bolts to specs which was a bit awkward until I thought to use my ratchet extension bars. Maybe the easiest "car repair" I've ever done, and probably saved a lot of $$$ doing it myself. If you can change your oil, you can do this installation no problem! Also, etrailer promptly shipped this product for free (thanks, guys!) and it got here a day early. GREAT COMPANY! When I save up enough to buy roof rack rails in the near future, I'll be back... 401319

I needed a hitch and wiring harness for my 2006 Honda Pilot. After quickly locating what I needed on etrailer’s well designed website, I called customer service to confirm my choices. My call was answered immediately, and the customer service representative was extremely helpful. The hitch and harness I ordered arrived in three days in perfect condition. Installation was a cinch with the help of videos and customer suggestions included on etrailer’s website. I’m totally pleased with my hitch and harness, and can’t imagine a better value or experience for DIYers. 660423

2008 Honda Pilot

Fastest delivery I have ever had. Ordered Wednesday at 5PM, arrived Thursday at 3PM. I'm only a couple hundred miles from Wentzville, but still, excellent. The hitch receiver (2008 Pilot) installed quickly and easily. No need to remove spare or lower muffler. I supported the left end on a large cooler and quickly maneuvered the right side above the tail pipes. The mounting holes were right on target. I had to tap mine to remove rust, but that's easy as well. The wiring harness was also a snapto install. Simple to plug into existing fitting and the wiring box tucked away nicely beneath the trim as advertised. There are options about what to do with the wiring tail and trailer connector. I chose the method shown in the video...leave it rubber-banded in the storage well. Others have run it outside through available holes, but I did not want to leave it exposed to road grime. etrailer's videos were very detailed and shown on my specific vehicle for both the hitch and the wiring harness. Good values as well. If I were Draw-Tite (or Curt) I would include a complementary rubber plug with their logo...cheap advertising. 430540

Ask the Experts about this Tekonsha Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring

  • How to Route Trailer Wiring After Making the Connections on a 2004 Honda Element
You are correct, the instructions, linked for reference, do not specify how you would run the 4-Way from the connection point on your 2004 Honda Element to he out side of the vehicle. There are a couple of ways you can do this. First, you can stow the 4-Way in the vehicle and then when needed, pull it out of the back door/hatch. You can close the hatch on the wiring as long as it is not pinched in a locking or hinging mechanism. The weather stripping on the rear door will prevent the...

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for 2006 Honda Pilot
The Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118336 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2006 Honda Pilot. This custom harness will install by connecting to a built-in port located behind the driver side trim panel on the vehicle. It will provide you with a 4-Way flat connector that will power a trailer's basic signal lights. It sounds like the trailer you plan on towing is equipped with a 7-Way round connector. If this is not the case, please let me know. There are...

This harness fits several vehicles and all of them have different places that they hide the harness so I would check out the install instructions to see where the harness is typically located in other vehicles to give you more places to look.

The Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118336 is a confirmed fit for your 2005 Acura MDX. I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to troubleshoot. I recommend testing each function at the end of your 4-way connection. You will need to check with your local regulations and laws to determine if you need to have side clearance lights on your trailer before you remove them.
