2010 Toyota 4Runner

Easy peasy....unplug the old...plug in the new!

On the 2010 Trail Edition 4Runners...the engineers mounted the plug up and underneath. I understand why (so it didn't get torn off) but what a huge PITA plugging it in and out.,plus its not a natural position hanging down that way.

I used one of the existing bolts holding the plastic bumper cover on. I just enlarged the hole in the socket bracket to 3/8"s. The other hole in the socket bracket I used a #10 self tapper (the mounting screws included are insufficient IMO)

I used dielectric grease at the fitting, pushed them together, taped it all up, and that was it. I screwed the plug into the socket holder and that was it...nice, strong mount.

I will say for you that use your spare in the factory position to get the longer length tail. I got the 12", but if I did use the spare it would be difficult. I realize it hangs down, but I tow much more than I rock crawl...I'll just have to be more cautious.

2001 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

I thought this would plug right into my factory harness. My harness has a square plug. The one you sent is round. It does not fit. I could have got this at the local parts store. Don’t need it.

Etrailer Expert

It looks like your 2001 Ford F-250 super duty has a towing package with a square plug. You will need part # C55243. This curt wiring harness also comes with the relays to activate the tow package.

2011 Toyota Tacoma

So i bought this for a 2011 Toyota Tacoma with factory installed tow package. I knew/understood ahead of time that this did not have the "square" connector, rather the round end. This is actually supposed to attach to the factory harness and just replace the connector and bracket. To plug this in would have taken some work breaking the connector on the truck harness. Maybe it would work, never got that far. What i did not forsee was a completely worthless bracket provided. I guess Reese thinks that I could drill through 1/4 steel to attach a paper thin bracket. So I returned this harness and lost 20 bucks on the adventure. Just save yourself the effort, if you plan on putting this on a Toyota Tacoma, just bite the bullet and buy the factor replacement harness.

If you are looking for a no drill option, we do have brackets like part # 18136 available.

I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. I do show that this harness is a fit for a 2004 Ford 250 with the factory seven way.

Great product, I much prefer having access to a 4 and 7 pin plug over carrying around an adapter. The adapter is one more thing that can be lost and it adds an unnecessary connection which means an unnecessary extra potential point of failure.

Ford F-150

I am not sure how it happened but my OEM connecter came up missing from my F-150. OK no big deal, the truck is paid for and I am a bit busy and a little lazy so while I was have the oil changed at my dealership, I went to the parts counter to get another one.......WHAT? About 400.00, are you serious? Then I stumbled across this one, and it cost about what the sales tax was from FORD. It was so easy to install I was almost ashamed it took me a month to order it. There are tons of other things on etrailer that I will be buying in the near future. Thanks, guys. This was more than I bargained for.

2000 Ford F-350, 450, and 550 Cab and Chassis

Does not fit Ford Super Duty trucks. I have a 2000 F-350 with factory hitch and plug and this will not work. Read the countless other reviews, the factory uses a square plug, this is round. Contacted etrailer and they have a already started the return process.

There can be some confusion when choosing the harness for a 2000 F 350. If you are looking to replace a damaged seven way connector then this harness, part # 74682 would be the way to go because it would use the round US CARR connector to plug into. If your Ford has a factory 4 way and you are looking to add a 7 way then harness part # 118243 would fit as it would use the square plug that you are referencing,

2002 Ford F-250 Super Duty

This purchase was to fix a damaged factory trailer wiring receptacle. The application it was going on was an 02 Ford F-250 truck. The unit came with the 7 wire connection along with a 4 flat connection along with a mounting bracket. The factory receptacle had a connection that went directly to this new harness and was a dead on fit. Only problem is now I have 2 of the 4 flat connnectors. The new harness came with one and the factory harness has one as well. I really only needed the 7 round connector. The metal bracket that came with the package was flimsy metal and the factory bracket was much better. I just had to drill new hole for the new socket to fit the old bracket. Wiring was zip tied up after connections were made and coiled up all the excess cable. Socket was texted with trailer plug and now lights work again. Yippee

2009 Toyota Tacoma

This did not fit on my 2009 Toyota Tacoma. Upon contacting etrailer, they checked with one of their contacts who informed them that my truck must have been modified at some point. I was at the dealership when this truck was backed off the trailer with 2 miles on it and was still wrapped. The tow package was already installed when it came of the transport. Etrailer offered for me to send the product back or if I wanted to modify it myself. Due to the price, I decided to modify. I matched the wires color for color and when plugged in, the lights were all out of whack. I took off the connector, threw it in the trash and headed to Toyota for a factory replacement which solved my issue. I would do business with etrailer again, just not for this product.

Thanks for your review and your business, Chris. On some 2009-2012 Toyota Tacomas with factory 7-ways, the connector will not come apart for this product to plug into, so the connector ends have to be cut off and hardwired together.

If you have a factory 7 way then this product should work for you and the plug in should be under the vehicle on the driver side. If you have a factory 4 way you will need something like item # HM40165. If you do not have any factory wiring you will need something like item # 18252. You can be sure of what you have by checking your vin # with your local dealer.

by:

Never installed it. This was for a truck that has wiring readily available at the bumper. I have a F150 Heritage that the factory plug was much further away. I did reach out to etrailer, but was asked to take pictures of the plug and location on the truck. By that time, spare tire was already back on and truck was in use. It was too much of a pain in the arse to take the pics to supply to find the right one. Though I am sure this will work fine if it were the right part, 2 stars are for the web site. VIN matching would be nice. The choices for F150's were a pain in the butt.

I will have our customer service team reach out to you. This harness is intended to replace the factory seven way on your 2021 Ford 150 to give you a 7 and 4 way connector. If you do not have any wiring installed on the truck then you would part # C75WR to give you a 4 flat to start. Part C75WR is intended for trucks without LED lights and is not intended for models with back up sensors.

by:
Ford

E trailer gets 5 stars, fast shipping and product was exactly as advertised.

The product itself I'm giving 4...because there's no half and I made minor mods to get it to work on a 05 Superduty. Its about 75% "plug n play" for this vehicle.

#1. The included bracket didn't clear bumper and trim. Reused the OEM bracket which is a good bit heavier material and provides the adequate drop. You'll need to drill holes in the OEM bracket as the spacing is different.

#2. The vehicle connector doesn't lock to Ford OEM harness. The electrical connection is fine and its snug but the prongs from the factory plug are far too short. Considering this is a multi fit item its not a huge deal, especially considering the savings over an OEM part. Some e-tape and a zip tie fixed that. Also used some dielectric grease on the contacts.

All in all, it works as advertised, would recommend and would buy again.

  • 7-Way Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2018 Ford Explorer with Existing 4-Way
As a matter of fact you can. I recommend using part # 74682 because not only is it a 7-way, like you need, but it's also a 4-way in case you ever need it. When unplug the 4-way on your 2018 Ford Explorer there will be a connector that looks like the one I have pictured. The new 7- and 4-way plugs right into the same location. It also comes with a mounting bracket to help. It's also a good idea to add some dielectric grease, part # 11755, on the connectors before plugging it all in.
