Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting or splicing required.
Features:
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on the driver's side and passenger's side. You will have to remove the rear threshold plate and some interior paneling to access this harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Today we're going to be taking a look at Hopkins Plug-in Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. This is going to fit a 2004 to 2007 Scion XB. This unit's going to provide a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of the vehicle, that way you can power your trailer's signal lights. This is compatible with 5-Pole, 6-Pole and 7-Pole adapters. The adapters are sold separately. It's going to come with a dust cap for the plug that we can cover up those connection points when it's not being used.
The unit's also going to feature protective connection terminals to resist rust and corrosion. The black box right here, that's going to be the included taillight converter. This is going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. The unit's designed to connect quickly and easily. You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any wires.
Just locate the connection points in the rear cargo area and plug in your connectors. One end's going to go over to the passenger side. The other set's going to go to the driver's side. Again, these are custom fit so the plugs on the harness will match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle and are going to snap lock together for a nice tight, secure fit. Once you have those connected you can mount the converter box. You want to get that mounted to a safe out of the way location using the included cable ties that's provided with the kit.
Then you'll need to make a ground connection. Your ground wire is your white wire. It has a ring terminal already attached to it and it comes with a grounding screw so you can get that grounded to a nice, clean metal surface. Now once your installation's complete, the 4-way flat connector's going to be stowed in your rear cargo area, plenty of wiring is here so that way you can pull that out when you're ready to make your connection, then when it's not being used, you can roll it back up and tuck it away. Also want to mention that it comes with a terminal grease packet, so we want to recommend you use a small amount of grease on all your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4-pole connector itself and that grease is designed to help prevent corrosion.
