Best 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Trailer Hitch Ball Mounts

Fits our VW Touareg perfectly and allows us to tow a variety of things now. As can be seen in the pictures the hitch has a +5-inch gap between the bumper and the vertical adjustment pillar and the trailer itself is out further so there's enough room to get to the rear hatch and maneuver the vehicle/trailer.

Picked up my teardrop in ABQ on 2/17/23, and the Curt ball mount lined up perfectly with no drop/rise, and the extra length gave clearance for my rear door mounted spare tire. This mount is a beast, and the "overbuilt" nature of it gave me confidence that my Bronco would tow the teardrop easily. I also got the Curt Echo wireless brake controller, which synced easily to my phone and was easy to install, set up, and use. Overall a great towing experience, thanks to etrailer and Curt!

This ball mount has served it purpose well. I purchased a new travel trailer that is heavy enough to require a weight distribution hitch when using the factory installed Class III hitch on our Dodge RAM 2500. I decided to upgrade to a Class V hitch combined with this ball mount to take delivery of the TT in order to defer decisions about a WD hitch until the actual load conditions were known. The hour trip home with this setup worked very well. Once the trailer was outfitted I was able to determine the actual tongue weight of the loaded trailer and I decided to purchase an appropriately sized Reese Straight Line WD hitch. However, this ball mount comes in handy for moving the trailer short distances without hassling with the WD system. The purchase experience through etrailer.com was first rate.

I had previously purchased the etrailer hitch for my 2021 Ford Transit 150. It was a little short in length and the bumper prevented my current ball mount from working. Very happy with this ball mount - provides just the amount of drop we required for a level tow of our GeoPro travel trailer by our RAM2500. Plus, the extra length not only allows a tighter turning radius, but also allows us to lower the truck tailgate without having to detach the trailer. Your packaging it's lousy, package arrived with a receiver size hole in the end of box . Guess what the box was empty . This is the second time I have had problems with your company !

Love the height adjustment for all 3 of my trailers suuper solid, I get compliments all the time when people see it "wow that things stout!" Keeps the trailer tongue from excessive bobbing, the pins it came with are a huge improvement from the standard Bobby pin style I was used to. Over all I do not regret a dollar spent and would highly recommend to anyone looking for an initial purchase or upgrade their tow life

This hitch is amazing!!! Be prepared though it is very heavy! I love how easy it is to adjust to different heights and ball sizes with the 2 common sizes provided. The scale on the back can be helpful to let you know if you have the proper trailer weight. The more you use it the more you will like it!

I got a hitch for my Honda accord it was extremely easy to install took less time than they estimate after I installed it I bought a trailer and have hauled various things already with no problem I would recommend e trailer to anyone

I installed the trailer wiring and a friend helped install the hitch. Etrailer website is excellent. I got the right items on time and the fit is better than my wife’s dealer installed hitch. Videos on the etrailer site are clear and correct. One caveat, don’t try installing the hitch without at least one other person and having a way to lift the car(we used ramps) is a great help. The only possible way etrailer could be any more helpful is if they could recruit some local shops that would be willing to do the installation. I especially like having my wiring in the passenger compartment when not in use. It keeps it out of the Salt here in the northeast.

The Extra Long Ball Mount proved useful immediately upon receipt. The extended length facilitated use with a Swagman bicycle rack, also purchased via etrailer.com. This slightly longer than average bar was perfect for my application. The drop length was perfect also for the application. As usual, eTrailer's site and retail experience was first rate. Great purchase experience. eTrailer has this convenient package of ball and hitch already torqued together, AND includes a locking pin in addition to the normal cotter pin! Seems to work as expected. Installs easily. I had a CURT drawbar for my other vehicle but they didn't have one in the Drop I need for my new car. I prefer the lock pin on that CURT model, it's feels heavier duty, than this so I just swapped them out.

Exactly what I needed. I bought this Mercury Mariner used and it had factory installed hitch with a 1 1/4 receiver. I needed a drawbar with a substantial drop to tow my utility trailer somewhat level. Local shops had lots of 2 inch drawbars with drops but no 1 1/4 and I was even told that they weren't made and I would have to use a 1 1/4-2 inch receiver adapter do get what I wanted. You folks had what I needed and it arrived quickly. I should have looked here first.

All I really needed was the ball mount/hitch. The whole package was a little pricey but I figured I could use the other stuff (locking pin, hitch cover, storage case) anyway so I bought the package. The locking pin key broke after a week and I had to drill the lock out to remove it. Then I saw I could have purchased what I needed at my local auto parts store for about 1/3 what I paid for this. Definitely what I should have done. No problems with the actual ball and hitch though.

The hitch and ball mount are excellent quality. My concerns are twofold. The hitch is so heavy that I had to take it to my mechanic to have it installed. Minor cost and inconvenience, but the hitch for my previous F-150 was just as sturdy, but easy to install myself (albeit with higher ground clearance). My concern about the ball mount is that the factory told me erroneously that it could not be reversed for a drop, so I returned it. This order is for the replacement after I was finally correctly told it could be reversed and how to do that. Ball mount would have been a 3 for that reason, and overall hitch and ball mount quality a 5. So I averaged them.

I have two of these. My first I bought two years ago. I very highly recommend this Curt Class III Ballmount 2" Drop because of its price, durability and quality. I towed various class 3 loads with ease and confidence with this ballmount. It slides into the hitch and does its job without fail. It looks excellent after towing a load. etrailer's price is about as good as it gets and delivery is very speedy.

This is a great all-purpose hitch. I've used it to mount a heavy-duty bike rack and a steel T-rack to carry a canoe as well as lumber. Most recently I hauled 5 x 8 cargo trailers full of plants, then furniture for a 600-mile move. It was simple to use, problem free, very strong and sturdy. Now that I live on some acreage, I see a trailer in my future, so this will get a lot more use. I drive a 2013 Tacoma, so this is a good size hitch at a good price with sufficient capacity for my needs. I do use a key lock for the hitch as well.

Just your basic ball mount, the product is just like most 2” Hitch ball mounts, the service wasn’t very good though. Ordered on June 15th (product was in stock) took them 6 days to send it out, took another 6 days in shipping and got all the way to my post office two days before leaving on vacation (I needed it for the vacation) and the post office said “box was empty and they notified seller” etrailer sent a new one (got here a week after my vacation) in a damaged box (packaging is horrible, little bit of paper in a box with a 5 lbs ball mount) almost lost this one too. I don’t believe I’ll be using etrailer in the future (had issues before)

I wrote 2 days ago and haen't heardafom anyone so I guess you only want reviews-. Here is what I wrote Steve, the class 1 hitch doesn’t fit the trailer hitch either. I don’t understand the continuing problem with all of the Curt hitches we have tried including the last draw hitch you selected and shipped, which I now need to return after H. Idalia passes, I want to point out that I initiially ordered somewhere on line a Maxxhaul adapter so I could move my 2” trailer until I sell it and it fit perfectly. I NEVER expected to have so much trouble getting a ball hitch to fit the 1.25 hitch recommended by etrailer for my car. Aren’t you glad I am writing an email rather than make star comments? I know that someone writes these things for ‘you’ and you don’t necessarily do the hands on so please direct this problem to someone who is supposed to make these product directives and solve this $[XX] attractive trailer hitch problem so I can haul my lawnmower in for repairs when needed on my utility trailer designed for doing so. Doesn’t Drawtite have a ball hitch for level hauling a trailer rather than Curt which is too thick. The powers that be need to rethink OD (outside diameters) vs ID (inside diameters) in their trailer connectors, screw the rattling! PS don’t forget arrangements for the return of the recommended draw hitch.

Great price! Amazingly fast service! The drawbar was a very tight fit in the hitch until I scraped off some of the paint at the end; then it was perfect.

Received the Class II Drawbar 5-1/2" Rise or 6" Drop - BM96 in a timely manner. The rise was what I was looking for to use with my Polaris ATV 570 since its standard receiver is 1-1\4 hitch and sits low to the ground. This was just the right height to pull my john boat behind the ATV.

I just purchased a new hideaway hitch system. But the hitch sits only 15 inches off the ground at best. And, my trailer coupling is 22-23 inches off ground. So l needed 7-8 inches of rise on the new 1.25 inch receiver system. Internet research took me to etrailer and the Brophy hitch. I got 5.5 inches with the Brophy hitch, the highest available for a 1.25 inch receiver I could find. The others are limited to 5 inches max. I added another 1.5 inches with your Curt shock absorbing hitch. Voila, with a combined 7 inches of rise and on level ground the trailer now rides perfectly level!!!! Both parts were very easy to connect. Delivery was speedy. Thank you for saving the day and my investment in an expensive new hideaway hitch!

The product is good but a bit tideous and after installing it my bracket fell and it was a pain to get replace it support made me buy the replacement pieces and the bracket didnt come with just the bolts, and at the end they told i have i had to buy the whole unit because based on their system my truck didnt have issues with installement and the manufacturer didnt supply that bracket cause it special order so in general i dont recommend in my choice better to get it welded.

Working in the sand and grass of my driveway my wife and I installed our new etrailer receiver hitch. Great fit and finish! Went right on as described in the online guide. Hitch required a spacer washer on top back bolt attachment point. Taped it on so it would not move while lifting in place and it stayed right there! Used a car jack to raise up and hold the hitch into the underside of the trunk tighten the bolts and reattached the tail pipe done. Now we can pull our Sunfish Sailboat any where the car will go.

Strong and seems to be well made and well finished. One-inch ball mounting hole. I used this for a Curt hitch mounted on a 2014 Forester and pulls a small Harbor Freight trailer. Perfect height and trailer is level. Warning - don't get their hitch pin, it does not have a hole for a cotter pin, only a weak clip that I would not trust.

I searched the internet to put a hitch on my 2016 Chevy Equinox and found an instructional video from eTrailer.com where they installed on my exact car. I decided to go with eTrailer.com because they answered all my questions and because of the video-I support businesses that go the extra mile with these videos. Shipping was quick and well tracked, however, the box was flimsy and the one end of the hitch had come out of the box side and the ball mount could have easily come out of that hole during shipping. If I were eTrailer.com I'd charge an extra couple of bucks for more sturdy boxes-people will still buy as eTrailer is a well-trusted brand and this would overcome a lot of the negative reviews you'll see on their site about this shipping issue in their own reviews :-) I installed the hitch by myself (definitely recommend help as two people holding it up to the frame makes attaching 100% easier) in about 45 minutes total (out of the box, read instructions, review video again and installation complete). All hardware went on with no issues. Great quality hitch! I also bought the lesser expensive wiring assembly because most recent equinox's come hitch ready with pre-wired assembly in the left side compartment-snap and done. Picked up a new trailer at Home Depot within days and drove 5 feet and the clacking was horrible. I had always had a welded hitch before buying a hitch that took a ball mount. I really thought something was wrong and when I searched the internet that night it turns out this is very common. However, all you need is some sort of hitch "silencing" device. The number of options will drive you mad but I went with the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch and it did the trick for much less than most of the other options. If I were eTrailer.com I'd have that as one of the RECOMMENDED add-ons and explanation why its super-worthy when customers are buying a hitch. Would have saved me the time and hassle of dealing with it later and the extra shipping charge for buying after the fact when I got free shipping for the other items the first time :-) All in all, I'm super, super happy with my hitch, wiring assembly, ball mount, ball mount locking pin and the hitch silencer. This ball mount fit the SUV just right. I needed a 5 inch rise and the mount angled away from the bumper. However, the load capacity was way more than I needed, but the fit made up for that. It's a little loose in the receiver so I will be adding a stabalizer to lock it in place.

Its been a year and I aint broke it yet. I use this hitch to tow my 7Klb trailer. The trailer is tongue heavy and I needed something rugged to tow it with. Haven't had any troubles with this hitch.

I am an infrequent trailer user, but getting my daughter home from college was necessary in March. This drawbar fits my hitch and utility trailer well, did exactly what it is supposed to do, and was the last thing to be concerned about right then. I have a '11 Mini Countryman S with a Class II receiver from Mini Fini, (which cost twice as much as a Curt) where the hole is flush with the fake grille near the bottom of the bumper cover, so I needed the long bar to reach out past the bumper. The Curt receiver for that car hangs visible underneath the bumper (ugly), which also increases the lever arm on the receiver beam and would have needed an even taller rise. (Curt take note!) All just part of the kit to create an occasional 1 ton pickup out of my Mini, leaving the "bed" at home most of the time.

This drawbar did exactly what I was hoping for. It leveled out my trailer and took the weight off the tongue. Perfect!
