Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Curt multi-ball mount with the included tow hook. This is designed for 2 inch by 2 inch trailer hitch receivers. This ball mount with the built-in hedge balls is going to let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank portion, which is this portion right here, it slights into the receiver tube of your hitch, and then the hitch balls are going to provide the connection point for your trailer coupler. This one is going to feature 3 differently sized hitch balls. That way you can tow trailers with different coupler sizes.
To switch between each ball, all you have to do is remove, rotate, and reinsert the draw bar. The hitch balls are welded to that draw bar or to that shank. Those are going to be chrome-plated steel balls that are permanently attached, and then on this side, we're going to have the sturdy tow hook that's going to provide an attachment point for a tow strap. The shank is a solid shank so it does not have a hollow design. It's a nice, solid design. It's extra strong and durable, steel construction, and it's going to have a black, powder-coated finish to resist rust and corrosion and last a long time.
When you're inserting this into your hitch, it's going to have a set of pin holes. You're going to have this set right here, which will be perfect for using the tow hook or for using the 2-5/16 inch ball, and then you're going to have this set right here, which is going to be perfect for using the 2 inch ball or the 1-7/8 inch ball. These pin holes will accept a standard 5/8 inch diameter pin. Your hitch pin and clip or hitch lock is sold separately, so if you're in need of something like that, you can check out some options here at etrailer.com. Again, this is designed for a 2 inch by 2 inch trailer hitch receiver. A few capacities to go over with you real quick.
When using the 1-7/8 inch ball, it's going to have a gross towing weight capacity of 3,500 pounds with a maximum tongue weight of 350 pounds. The 2 inch ball, the is going to have a gross towing weight of 5,000 pounds with a max tongue weight of 500 pounds. Then, the 2-5/16 inch ball is going to have a gross towing weight capacity of 10,000 pounds with a maximum tongue weight of 1,000 pounds. Then, when it comes to the capacity of the hook, that's going to have a capacity of 7,500 pounds. A few measurements that I just want to mention for you real quick. I took a measurement from the center of each pin hole location, so, for instance, if you're wanting to use the 2 inch ball or 1-7/8 ball, you're going to use this set right here, so from the center of these pin holes to the center of each one of those hitch balls, that's going to measure about 8 inches.
Then, if you're wanting to use the tow hook or the 2-5/16 inch ball, that's going to use this set of pin holes. From the center of that set of pin holes to the center of the 2-5/16 inch ball is going to measure about 6-3/4 of an inch. That's going to do it for today's look at the Curt multi-ball mount with tow hook for 2 inch hitches.

One year update. After heavy use the chrome is still as good as day 1.
Excellent service! However the website makes it easy to see which hitches are made in the USA, but not the accessories pieces like this. I would appreciate every item being clearly labeled for the country of origin.
This mount will be used on the three point hitch of my tractor, which will facilitate moving a variety of trailers. The hook should come in handy too!
I bought a Curt multi-ball mount w/tow hook for 2" hitches. I bought this to replace one I had that I had to transfer to another company truck. We use these to pull trailers. the Curt mount that I purchased has a higher rating than the one it replaces. I liked the price. Better than going to a local brick and mortor. They wanted same price for much lower rated mount. Very satisfied.
Just what we were looking for
The drawbar or shank with three towing balls and a hook arrived today. Looks as expected. Sturdy - heavier than expected, but knew it was solid metal. Looking forward to using it. etrailer shipped it out and it was in my hands in less than 5 days with ordinary shipping. Excellent service. Got what I expected.
Works as intended. Quite a simple product. However, very prone to rusting inside the hitch. Kind of a mess to take in an out now because of this.
Well built hitch. Convenient to have three balls on one hitch.
Wonderful! We especially look for brands Made in America. This fit the bill and is great quality
Easy installation. Good price. Quick service. What more could you ask for?
Products ordered arrived on time and worked as described.
Solid!
Great product at a great price!

I like it because it has the 3 most common ball sizes in one. This way you don't need multiple ball mounts, just select the correct size and go. It is solid steel which makes it a little heavy but that makes it stand up to anything you want to tow. Overall I'm very satisfied.

Fits our VW Touareg perfectly and allows us to tow a variety of things now. As can be seen in the pictures the hitch has a +5-inch gap between the bumper and the vertical adjustment pillar and the trailer itself is out further so there's enough room to get to the rear hatch and maneuver the vehicle/trailer.

Coming in at about 45 pounds, the D900 Curt Multi-Ball Adjustable Ball Mount is a BEAST!
I purchased for use with my '08 Expedition towing either a small utility trailer w/ 1 7/8" ball or my DooLittle Bullitt cargo trailer w/ 2" ball.
I needed 5 inches of drop (at least) for both.
This is just about the only economical mount in which to accomplish this. Most if not all two ball mounts are 2" and 2 5/16" balls.
Many reviews comment on the length that this mount sticks out and initially that was a concern of mine.
Please see the Q&A of the D900 product page to address those issues.
Short story: A hollow/tubular extension shank of (about or greater)15" reduces vehicle hitch capacity by 50%.
The D900 shank and other components are SOLID steel. No reduced capacity.
Specifically in my case; this extra length will allow me some personal maneuvering room when hooked up to the DooLittle and raising the lift gate of my Expedition.
Clearance between raised lift gate and cargo trailer was about two inches using my old shank, and I should about double that.
The anti-rattle tightening bolt is a nice touch.
This is my first Etrailer purchase, but not my last.

Hitch is a solid unit. I bought this to accommodate my 10,000lb hitch. Adjusts easily to get the right ride height. No issues with the hitch at all.
