How to Charge a Breakaway Battery While Trailer Is Not In Use
Question:
I am in the process of installing this break-away on my tandem axel trailer that gets used maybe twice-three times a year to go to deer camp. Can a battery tender or charger be connected and do a trickle charge while it sits in back yard? If so, what charger would you recommend or sell, and could it go through 7 pin trailer connector or add quick disconnect to battery box itself?

The best way to keep a breakaway battery charged while not in use is to use the Solar Battery Charger part # PTW2997. The Solar Battery Charger is perfect for the situation you described as the trailer will be outside and you don't have to worry about having an electrical outlet nearby to use a conventional battery charger like the NOCO Genius On-Board Battery Charger part # 329-GENIUS5.
In regards to the trailer connector, there is a battery charge line circuit which can be used for the breakaway battery but this would only be used when the tow vehicle is connected. I have attached a photo to assist.
