Tow up to 12,000 lbs safely and conveniently, and get up to a 6-1/4" drop or a 7-7/8" rise with this MaxxTow ball mount system. Turn the ball mount over to select a drop or a rise. After the ball mount has been installed on your vehicle, just pull the included pins to adjust the ball platform up or down or to flip the ball platform between the 2" or 2-5/16" hitch balls as needed. Replace the pins, and you're ready to tow. The ball mount fits 2" square trailer hitches and is a great solution for those who tow several different trailers.

Keeping your trailer level with your tow vehicle makes it easier and safer to tow. If your trailer is more than 2" nose up, it may sway while being towed - increasing tire wear and making your ride less comfortable. Lots of sway makes it harder to drive your vehicle. If the trailer is more than 2" nose down, the load may put too much weight on the hitch and tow vehicle, exceeding the weight limit for both. This puts stress on the connection between your trailer and hitch and may not leave enough weight on your front wheels, affecting your ability to steer and brake properly. An adjustable ball mount system makes it easy to keep whatever you tow as level as possible.

Video Transcript for MaxxTow Adjustable 2 Ball Mount Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Max steel adjustable 2 ball mount. This is going to be a 2 inch, and a 2 and 5/16 inch ball. Part number is MT70380. With our inch and a quarter adjustability this is going to allow us to fit a wide variety of couple of parts using just 1 product. You see our dual pins here, these are going to offer stabilization for the ball as it heads down the road. It's got a black powder coat finish on the shank itself, and we've got hardened chrome plated balls to make our connections with. Now adjusting our balls is very quick.

What we do is pull out our 2 clips that are holding our pins in place. We'll slide our pins out and you'll see the 2 holes that are going to correspond with our adjustments here, and we'll be able to go from even some of the higher hay trailers all the way down to more the utility trailers or the smaller garden trailers. Pretty quick and simple adjustment. Yeah, as you see we do have the clearance we need to open our gate even when there are hitches in the rise position. Now we won't want to have our ball up too high. We want to use caution keeping that within ...

We want to keep the top of our ball below, about 2 inches above the top of the shank itself. Now with it in the drop position, we're going to have about 8 and 1/2 inches from the ground to that bottom edge. The ball itself is going to come out from the rear of the vehicle, right about 9 and 3/4 of an inch. Our 2 inch offers a 8000 pound capacity. The 2 and 5/16 inch offers a 12000 pound capacity. Now we're also going to have a 1000 pound ton weight rating. That's going to be the maximum downward force we can put here at our ball, though we do want to check both our hitches rating and our vehicle's rating of course, see what it's rated for, and just make sure we stay with whichever of those numbers are the lowest. Now we're going to have a maximum rise of 7 and 7/8 of an inch from the inside tap edge of a receiver tube opening, and a maximum drop of 6 and 1/4.

Well you can see the construction is really designed for years of good use. We've got our solid steel shank, so there's going to be much less of a risk of creating an egg shaped hole here at our pinhole, and a nice gusset that's been welded in here, the welds are really well done. Fully welded all the way around all of our seams, so it should last for a good long time. The pins with the key rings on them here, they're going to be easy to remove, these are going to be included. You'll need to provide your own pin and clip which most of us probably already have. If not, we offer it on our website, part number PC3.

We will simply slide that in, line up our pin holes with the hole and the shank, slide our pin through and secure the clip. Now to get the proper height setting here on our ball mount, what we're going to do is level out our trailer. Now we're going to measure from the ground to the top of our cup which is going to be right here. Right, so that's about 17 and 1/4 inches. Now we'll add a quarter inch to that for every hundred pounds of ton weight. We've got about 200 on our trailer, so we're going to raise this up to about 17 and 3/4 to the top of our ball. Be about right there. You can see we've got it set up right about 17 and 3/4 of an inch. Now when we put out trailer on there, this should give us a nice and level trailer. What that allows for is better trailer handling behind the vehicle, we're not pulling downward on the front, or upward on the front, and it's not doing that to the rear of our vehicle either. Now we get all of our safety stuff hooked up. Lift up our foot pad if we have one, and we're ready to head down the road with a great level trailer that's going to give us great handling. That will complete our look at the Max steel adjustable 2 ball mount, part number MT70380.

This adjustable trailer hitch is solid and heavy duty. I haven't used it yet on a trailer, but it does appear to have a little slop in the reversible ball. The cotter pins seem way too long for this hitch, but are of good quality. I would definitely recommend this to others. 637157

Pulls straight down the road. Hangs a little low for my truck (stock height 3500 dually) but allows my to match trailer height with any of my trailers, and is rated quite high for towing. Heavy and solid. The wobble shown in the video exists in mine, but I dont hear it rattle when on the road, so it doesnt bother me. Easy to change positions. The only draw back I have had was when reversing over a curb it drops low enough to gouge the ground and fills the channel with dirt. Should not be a problem on a lifted truck though, and is not a problem as long as I stay on the road. 628918

This ball mount solved our problem with our horse trailer being too low on our current towing vehicle. High quality. The ONLY drawback is it is a bit heavy and awkward to carry, but it is a great product. Highly recommend. 690827

Nice heavy built, it does have quite a bit of freeplay in the channel as others have stated. It is nice having one ball mount that works on various night trucks and trailers. 1000lbs of tongue weight rated. Great price. A pintle option to fit the channel would be the perfect setup.. 548891

Heavy duty, very nice. Pulled a 2500 Diesel in a 24' cargo trailer 700+ miles without any problems. Other products similar to this I've used in the past had what felt like alot of play between the ball and pins but this product had very little to no play which made for a smooth less tense haul. 641677

Product shipped and delivered within 2 days of my order. Really good value compared to the pricier hitches out there. Pins are a little long, but that’s an easy gripe to overcome. It’s definitely a heavy duty hitch with good strong welds. Easily handled my 10k cargo trailer. 572126

Still using it and it hasn’t failed at all! Great product and will definitely be one of the last hitches I ever buy.

I have had good luck with it simple to adjust and heavy duty. Minor issue with that adjustabilty there has to be a little "slop" so when coming to a complete stop you might hear a little "thunk" but im Ok with it 466245

Have used this for a year. Works well in my situation. If you have a high trailer mount this is the ticket to get it down to a more level plane, or if you have multiple types of trailers, this should accommodate most of them, if not all. Should also work well for low trailer hook ups as all you have to do is turn it over. Strong and sturdy enough to survive the harshest treatment. 359179

Its solid steel. Only thing that could possibly happen to it is Superman bending it up, which of course has not happened.

Purchased this hitch as I need more height and like that it is adjustable to multiple settings. Seems very stout and durable. Chose standard shipping due to cost. Next day I got an email saying etrailer was upgrading my shipping and it arrived a day later. A very pleasant surprise. Great online experience for this type of product. 477855

The quality of this ball assembly is good but I have one trailer hitch that is a split assembly which is hinged in the front. That hitch is elongated in the front and catches on the u shaped part of the ball assembly when making turns. Another 1/2" of clearance between the ball and the vertical attachment point would prevent that problem. It works fine with my other trailers. 604699

MaxxTow Adjustable 2 ball mt hitch. First, let me say that the ball hit and the hitch locks were delayed in shipping due to production delays. I want to thank Pat C. in customer service for providing me a running account of when the product was made and shipped right up to delivery of the hitch. Thank you Pat. Now for the hitch, the pricing of the hitch is very fair. Compared to comparable hitches, I saved at least 50$ on the hitch with no apparent downgrade in the equipment. So I got the hitch well-packaged. Everything was included that i had ordered. Next was the product to truck install. That went easy. Fit and finish was good for a Chinese made product and they certainly didn't skimp on the steel. The ball mount looks classy and it looks like it will be rugged and dependable. I guess we won't know until it is put to the test. That will be happening soon. I expect it will perform as other reviewers had indicated. 220976

Great all around hitch. I bought this hitch for occasional use and so I wouldn’t have to worry about having the right size ball for the job at hand. Since then I’ve used it for the last year in everything from small equipment hauling, to 20” campers, to loaded up car haulers (flatbed). I’ve put about 3k miles of hailing on the hitch so far and even with leaving it on my truck about 6 months out of the year and not being great about the occasional oiled wipe down, I have minimal surface rust and it still looks great. It still gets 5 stars because it’s by far the best hitch you can get for the money. The only improvement I would make is to fine-tune the size of the ball/hitch pin-hole. There is just enough of a size difference between the pins and the holes they slide in to that there is some play in the actual ball. Other than that it’s a fantastic hitch. 580249

Very satisfied. Product finish has held up well. Used to tow 8000 lb. boat and trailer 2800 miles round trip Price was good as well. Was very easy to make adjustments for use on other trailers. No complaints about this purchase. 345293

Am generally happy with it but still think it it is rusting more than it should. I would suggest that if a person buys this it should pay be stored inside vehicle during days of non use.

I bought this product 6 months ago and no complaints so far! The product is one of the few mounts I could find that was rated for the weight. The construction seems excellent; very heavy duty (emphasis on the heavy!). I use it with my bumper pull horse trailer and it seems to do the job beautifully. I have only used the 2" end so far, but I like that I have a 2 5/16" ball available at all times, since that size is utilized frequently for larger bumper pull horse trailers. And of course, the adjustability factor is great. I switched out two of the three pins for locking pins to (hopefully) ensure no one walks off with it. My only criticism is the silver finish seems to scratch easily on the balls. So far, it's been nothing but a very minor cosmetic issue, but it makes me wonder if rusting will be a problem in the future. 355164

It is rare when I take the time to write a review. But this is well deserved. I am extremely happy with my whole experience with etrailer.com I am a novice regarding utility trailers, towing, hitches, etc. But from the moment I landed in your website it was so easy for me to identify all the information I needed to make an informed decision. I always told my friends I do not understand why business waste time adding pictures of their products with useless description when a video tells a better story. And, etrailer.com presents their products so professionally and a level that a novice can understand. So I went ahead and order my products. They arrived and I was so busy with my kids life, after school swimming, grandparents, activities, etc. that I did not have time to open my package for almost 2 months. And in a way I did not open it because I felt so confident from my ordering experience that all was going to be ok. Well finally I got ready to test my purchased products and I found out that the keys to my ball mount was missing. A few days later I took the time to write etrailer.com customer service and explained exactly what had happened. They were prompt to reply and not only that they shipped to me a new receiver lock which I just tested and all is working properly. I am so, so, happy with my entire purchase experience. Your team has been so attentive from beginning to end. I highly recommend anyone to purchase with confidence from etrailer.com I will highly recommend you to all. I cannot say enough about how pleased I am with my experience and my high quality items. I wish you all great success and continue the good work. I will order in the future from you as I need new items. Thank you so much Marco. 375768

  • How To Tow A Trailer Without Measuring for Rise/Drop
The only true way to determine what ball mount you need is to measure from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube on the vehicle and then subtract the difference from the ground to the bottom of the coupler on the trailer while level. However, if you do not have access to the trailer then the best option for you is an adjustable ball mount as this will not only more than likely allow you to tow your boat trailer level without measuring beforehand but will also accommodate...

  • Ball Mount with 5 Inch Drop Needed to Tow Trailer Level
Usually the tongue weight of the trailer will pull down the rear of the vehicle a little and it is possible it could be enough to make the trailer level. If that does not happen then I do recommend going with a ball mount with more drop. For a fixed ball mount I recommend the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2-1/2" Hitches - 3-1/2" Rise or 5" Drop - 18,000 lbs # EBMK25518 . If you have a 2 inch receiver than an adjustable ball mount such as # MT70380 is your best option. This one has...

  • Recommended Adjustable Ball Mount and Brake Controller for 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude
The etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches # 989900 would be a great option if you only have a couple trailers, but could be an issue with multiples and in some cases will involve tools. I definitely recommend going with an adjustable ball mount like # MT70380. This will give you both a 2 inch and 2-5/16 inch diameter hitch ball and the adjustment for switching hitch ball size and height takes only seconds with no tools required. I've attached an article on ball mount height to assist....

  • Selecting Ball Mount to Allow Trailer to Remain Level When Hitched to 2012 Honda Odyssey
Passenger vans like the Honda Odyssey do sit fairly low to start with, and once you bolt on a hitch receiver and load some passengers and cargo, the bottom of that hitch tube can be pretty close to the ground. When we installed Draw-Tite hitch # 75270 on your vehicle we found that the hitch pin hole was 6-inches forward of the rear edge of the bumper cover. We also noted that the top of the receiver tube opening was 11-1/2-inches above ground level. This means the bottom on the hitch...

  • Hitch, Wiring and Brake Controller Recommendations for 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
We can help you get your 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon ready for trailer towing. The 2-inch Eco-Hitch # 306-X7266 is a confirmed fit on your Outback. This particular hitch option offers no-drill installation, unlike the others. A installation video is linked for you. For wiring and brake controller installation I suggest the reliable and easy-to-use Prodigy P3 # 90195. This controller offers easy set-up, a nice display you can customize to your preferences and built-in diagnostics. This...

  • How to Choose the Correct Ball Mount for a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited
In order to choose the correct ball mount for your 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and 19’ Airstream Flying Cloud, you will need to do a bit of measuring. For this, you will need to measure from the ground to the top of the inside edge on your receiver tube opening and from the ground to the bottom of the coupler on your trailer while level. The difference between the above two measurements will give you the correct amount of rise/drop you will need to look for in a ball mount. I have...

  • Recommended Towing System Components Including Transmission and Oil Cooler for 2016 Ford Explorer
For your 2016 Ford Explorer XLT, I recommend you start with the hitch, wiring, and ball mount. For a hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite # 76034. For your trailer wiring, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118540. It sounds like you will be towing heavier trailers, so I also recommend the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 and brake controller # 90195. Then for a ball mount I recommend the MaxxTow Adjustable 2-Ball...

Yes, as long as you have a 2 inch hitch on your 2016 Toyota Tacoma like the part # C13264 the MaxxTow part # MT70380 will fit and work well. This will also work with the factory hitch too. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Is there a Typical Hitch Height for a 2004 Chevy Blazer
The coupler height of most trailers would fall somewhere in the 16 - 20 inch range. Measure from the top of your receiver down to the ground, and choose a ballmount that would place the trailer ball right in the center of that range, and you will be set for most trailers. An adjustable ball mount like part # MT70380 might be a good option. It has a maximum rise of 8-3/8 inches and a maximum drop of 9-5/8 inches, so you can adjust the height exactly as needed. • How to Choose Correct Fixed or Adjustable Ball Mount
Finding the right ball mount, one with the correct rise or drop, will allow your hitched trailer to be level which is important for best handling. We offer both fixed and adjustable ball mounts for 2-inch hitches that are shown on the linked page. If you tow only one trailer and only with one vehicle then you may not need the benefit of flexibility from an adjustable ball mount like the MaxxTow # MT70380. If you have more than one trailer or tow vehicle then an adjustable ball mount...

Also, you can verify with Toyota using your VIN to be completely sure if your Highlander has the factory tow package. If you do not have...

  • 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2001 Ford F-250
Reese, Draw-Tite, and Hidden Hitch are all the same manufacturer so if you wanted to stick with that brand you could use # 41922 which will fit a 2001 Ford F-250 with a standard/step bumper. It is rated for 10,000 pounds gross trailer weight (12,000 when used with weight distribution). The B&W hitch # BWHDRH25230 will also fit models with the standard/step bumper. Since your truck has 16 inch tires and assuming the spare is the same or at least an 18 or smaller then you will not have...

  • Fixed and Adjustable Ball Mounts for 2-Inch Hitch on 2004 Lexus GX 470
Both hitches made for your 2004 Lexus GX 470, Draw-Tite # 75155 and Curt # 13445, are welded together as one-piece so I think what you are looking for is actually a 2-inch ball mount that slides into the square receiver opening and lets you tow. This is also sometimes called a draw bar and is what the hitch ball bolts onto. You can see one in the linked photo and an article on how to select one is also linked for you. A ball mount should be selected so that the trailer sits level to...

  • Selecting Fixed vs. Adjustable Ball Mount for Towing Teardrop Trailer
Almost any vehicle will have some degree of rear sag or squat when a trailer is hitched to it. This effect from trailer tongue weight is easy to compensate for by using a ball mount that adds about an inch of height. In other words, before you couple the trailer to the hitch ball it is fine for the ball to be an inch or so higher than the coupler. Once joined the resulting height of the ball/coupler will be right where it ought to be, with the trailer frame level to the ground. You can...

  • Selecting Correct Fixed Ball Mount or Adjustable Ball Mount for 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport

The linked article shows how to take these easy measurements. The difference between the hitch and coupler heights give you the amount of rise or drop needed. There's also the option of using an adjustable ball mount. Hitch # e98841 that fits your 2017 Hyundai Santa...
