Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the rear-view safety backup camera system. This backup camera system allows you to easily see behind your vehicle when in reverse and when backing up and that really helps increase overall safety and awareness. It can also be used as a hitch alignment system, which makes hooking up to a trailer much easier. It is designed for 12 volt systems. The mirror monitor attaches to your windshield and replaces your original rear-view mirror. It is designed as a universal application to fit virtually any vehicle, so the mirror attaches to the existing rear-view mirror base with a clip on design. It does feature an OEM style, which gives a clean factory appearance and it features a 4.3 inch super-bright TFT LCD display, so when I turn the camera on, you can see right there that that camera picks up really nice, good quality video and it shows the distance grid lines which are adjustable as well as optional and it appears right there on the left side of the mirror. The mirror can be turned on and off with the push of a button or by using the included remote and the reflective design allows it to act as a regular rear-view mirror when the monitor is not turned on.
Again, the distance grid lines are optional and they are adjustable, so you can go in through a menu -- I'll show you real quick, all you have to do is hit the menu button and it appear there. You can go through and you can change your brightness levels, you can do the grid lines. You have a lot of adjustability with this unit, which is really nice designing, especially for a system that uses a rear-view mirror as the monitor as well. The camera is designed to sit flush on the vehicle, but it also comes with a mounting bracket as another option and it comes with a one inch diameter hole saw to drill the perfect sized hole for a flush mount installation. Also, when it comes to the mirror, it uses a nice double ball joint design so that way you can rotate it and achieve the angle that you need for your application. The camera also features nine infrared lights that allow you to see up to 30 feet in low light and dark conditions, so it does have night-time visibility. And it features a viewing angle of 120 degrees, so it offers best quality image, no blind spots, really nice, high quality video with this camera. It also has a IP68 rating, which keeps out dirt and moisture and it features a heavy duty metal construction.
Also has a 15g vibration rating as well as aircraft grade cable connections. When it comes to the wiring, it is pretty simple. So I do like that they give you plenty of wiring. This bundle right here is 33 feet long, plenty long for most applications out there. But as you can see here, running from the back of the camera it goes into this connector here, which is a threaded connection. You line up the pins, push them together and then you thread the collar, which gives it a really nice tight, secure fit.
Also has this sleeve that you can push up over the connection points and then you have your 33 feet of camera cable. It's going to connect right here, using the same connection. This is the wiring that would attach to the rear-view mirror and it has two inputs, so you have AV2, which gives you the option for the grid lines, that's what I have it connected to now, and then you have an AV1 input. And then these wiring harnesses connect with just these push-in connectors. It's really nice and simple. From the monitor itself, you have a short piece of wire, connects to this longer piece of wire, which has the two inputs, one of those is where your camera extension wire, 33 feet long, connects to. Runs all the way back to the back of the vehicle to wherever location you choose to mount your camera. Also, it has a three wire design here, so this is how it actually gets power.
Your red wire is the accessory power, so that's how it gets basic power. Black is ground and green is your trigger wire, which would connect to the reverse function of the vehicle. And so that way whenever the reverse gear is activated, the camera turns on.We're going to hook it back up to power, but again, wiring is very simple. It's really a plug and go system and then you have three wires that you have to hard wire and that's all there is to it.A few measurements I want to go over with real quick. It does come with a hardware bag, so it comes with all the necessary zip ties and hardware that you need for your installation. The camera itself right here at the face has a diameter of 1 3/16 of an inch, but again the back side of it only has about a one inch diameter, which is why it includes a one inch hole saw.The mirror has an overall length, edge to edge, of 10 5/8. Overall height of 3 1/4 and then that monitor, when I turn that monitor on, that little rectangle portion measures 2 inches tall and then has a length of 3 11/16 of an inch. And as you can see, it has really good quality, really nice, fast response time, so when I activate, it comes on in less than a second from when activating the reverse gear. That's going to do it for today's look at the rear view safety backup camera system.

The camera is of high quality, as is the rearview mirror and monitor. I did have to return the first mirror because the bracket didn't match my 2013 Ram 1500's windshield mount, even though it was listed as a universal fit. The Ram has a triangular type fitting. I tapped into the reverse light wiring for power. l ended up having to replace the incandescent reverse light bulbs with LED bulbs because the monitor image flickered badly until I installed the LEDs. I think this was because the BCM (Body Control Module) got confused with the additional power draw. Since then the camera and monitor have worked flawlessly. It provides a great view behind the truck, even at night. Because of the placement on the bumper it doesn't have a good view of the hitch ball, but I don't tow very often. Overall I have been very pleased and feel that the camera is well worth the price.
Outstanding parts knowledge and a high quality products!
Installed in a 2013 F150 with no backup warning system.
Had the camera professionally installed. The video cable was too long but the mechanic rolled the excess up and zip tied it in the engine compartment so no issues there. Camera/rear view works great. Menu system and camera adjustment was easy to do. The three color backup grid lines are excellent. Works well in bright sun and quite well in the dark with the backup lights. Very much like the split-screen function so I can glance back and forth between the camera and normal mirror. Typically it is sometimes blurry when the road is wet but that is understandable. I would absolutely purchase this product again and highly recommend it!
Works fine use it on my pontoon boat!
My wife rode with a friend for lunch who had a new car with a back-up camera. She was really impressed and was talking about buying a new car to replace her 2011 Ford Escape that would have the backup camera. I found a video showing how to install the camera on an Escape by etrailer. I was impressed by the company and bought a unit. It arrived quickly and I was able to install it following the instructions I had watched. It took me a couple of hours to install, the hardest part being fishing the cables to the rear of the car. Once installed it worked great. My wife is very, very happy with the install. She says she is much more confident in parking her car. Thanks a lot. I would, and do recommend etrailer and the back up camera kit.
Exactly what I needed for our venerable 2003 Jayco travel trailer. 3D printed a very neat unit that holds the display and fits into a “sunglasses pocket” on the top of the dashboard of our Chevy Colorado pickup.
im very pleased with the product (camera & rear view mirror) takes a little work to get the cables run through your vehicle (f150) and finding a good power source (my problem) had one issue with a cable mfg took care of it over all had it installed for 1 year very happy got it manly for conecting to our travel trailer but use it all the time now
superior upgrade for us. would have been 5 star but the installation and usage instructions are almost worthless. 8^)
Great system, installed this for one of my customers
Quick shipping, easy order process, ordered the same product from another vendor who promised next day delivery and did not hold up to their end. Do not order from Truckid or Carid. Product fits perfectly in Isuzu. Will order again.

The backup camera has continued to work flawlessly. I have been very pleased with my purchase. I very much like having the picture within the rear view mirror, as that is what I naturally look at when backing, versus having to look down at the dashboard. I still highly recommend this backup camera system.
