The most difficult part of installing the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit item # BLU85CR is how many parts and pieces you have to take off of your 2023 Chevy Colorado to install it. The instructions have 5 pages of steps for removing the bumper, skid plate, front fenders, tow hooks, and all of the trim that surrounds these parts.
As far as technical difficulties go, there's nothing that stands out that would be challenging to someone who has been working on cars and has the right tools. It's just going to be a time consuming process. You will need a set of Torx t-handles to take off the trim pieces and fenders.
I went ahead and linked the instructions below so you could take a look at them. We do not have any installation videos.
The rest of the parts you will need to flat tow a 2023 Chevy Colorado are listed below:
Tow Bar and Safety Chains - Tow Bar and Safety Chains - Blue Ox Ascent Non-Binding Tow Bar item # BX4370
Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267
Battery Disconnect - Roadmaster Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle item # RM-766
Supplemental Braking System - SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System item # SM99251 or item # SM99243 if your motorhome has air brakes
High Low Adapter - The tow bar needs to be within 3" of level. If you measure the height of the inside top of the hitch receiver tube on your RV, and the height difference is more than 3 inches above/below the base plate tab height, you'll need a high/low adapter. I have linked a FAQ article that explains all this in more detail along with our selection of adapters.
