Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at this Bolt replacement lock cylinder. So this is going to replace the lock cylinder in your Bolt toolbox latch that codes to Ford keys. It will fit the model that you see on the screen there. So if you're wanting to move your toolbox to a different Ford vehicle, obviously those box cylinders are keyed to your ignition key.
So if you're switching vehicles, you will need to switch out that lock cylinder so that you can use the new key to open up your toolbox. So pretty simple process to remove. You just have to use that same retaining nut, or we do have replacements that are sold separately, but just kind of pull the original one off, put this one in its place, and then use that retaining nut to secure the cylinder in place. Obviously you'll key it just the same as the original. So you'll slide your ignition key in there fully, and that will code it to that key permanently.
So if you are searching for a way to get that original recoded, you are going to have to get a replacement like this in order to use that new ignition key. This does come with a limited lifetime warranty. So you can trust it's going to do a good job for you. Got 3 cylinders for the used cap I purchased. The cylinders worked flawlessly. It truly is as simple as the directions, 1) remove protective sticker, 2) insert truck key, 3) turn key clockwise. BOOM.. Good to go.

This was a replacement lock. The original decided to stop working. Not sure why! Lauren was very helpful to get me a replacement and tell me how to get a warranty claim. Great service!

It is very convenient to have the truck topper locks keyed the same as the truck. However, I went through a number of Bolt locks before finally getting some that wouldnt malfunction. When they malfunctioned, the only way to replace them was to drill them out. Fortunately Bolt sent replacement locks each time at no cost to me. It only took my time to change them out. Havent had a problem for a number of months, thankfully. Bolt admitted they had a manufacturing issue for a while. Overall, Im happy.
