Getting started with towing shouldn’t mean hunting down tools or fighting with torque specs. This kit’s 2-5/16" hitch ball comes pre-torqued to factory specs, so you can just slide the mount into your 2" x 2" receiver, secure it with the included pin and clip, and you’re set. No need to borrow a torque wrench or guess if it’s tight enough—just hook up and go.
For small to mid-size trailers, this mount covers the essentials with dependable strength. It’s rated for a gross towing weight of 7,500 lbs and a tongue weight of 750 lbs, giving you solid performance for boats, campers, or utility trailers. The steel construction keeps things sturdy mile after mile, so you can tow with confidence every time.
Towing gear takes a beating from weather and salt spray, but this mount’s finish is made to last. A layer of e-coat sits under the matte black powder coat to block rust before it starts. The black nickel plating on the hitch ball and pin adds even more corrosion resistance while giving the whole setup a clean look that holds up over time.

When the trip’s done, this kit’s small details make cleanup easy. The durable, water-resistant bag holds your ball mount, pin, and accessories neatly between uses. The rubber hitch plug seals off your receiver to keep water and grime out until the next adventure. It’s a tidy way to store your gear and keep your hitch ready to go.

How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Etrailer 2 5/6 Ball Mount Kit. Now, our kit is gonna have three different items that you're gonna get all together bundled. You're gonna have your two-inch receiver cover as well as our water-resistant bag and your 2 5/16 pre-torqued etrailer ball. So let's take a look at each one of these items and see what's special about 'em. Your receiver cover is gonna work for your two-inch shank. It'll just push right into position.
It's black rubber, and it just has our etrailer logo. And on the back of your vehicle, people will know that you know where to find the best towing supplies. Now, the inside of this guy is gonna have a couple ridges that are gonna hold against the inside of that receiver to keep water and moisture from building up inside your receiver when you're not towing. Our ball mount is a two-inch drop and 3/4-inch rise. You're gonna have the black nickel finish on the ball itself as well as the pin and clip.
As far as the ball mount is made of steel, you're gonna actually have a hollow core. However, actually the steel that they use on this is pre-treated with an e-coat underneath. So what that means, when you start getting these little nicks and cuts in the powder coat that you're bound to get, just from the life of being a ball mount, you don't have to worry about sections of the powder coat flaking off due to rust underneath it. In general, it's a pretty thick coat. And I would say, the only thing I usually suggest with ball mounts is adding ball grease to keep this black nickel finish looking nice.
If you don't use a lubricant at this pivot point, safety's really not affected, but just the appearance of your ball. Alright, and we also have our etrailer water-resistant bag. It is 10 liters and durable enough to put in your towing accessories when you're not towing. I would say, with it being water-resistant, you can throw in safety flares, bungee cords, anything that would fit in this space to keep everything nice and together. Now, overall, I think it's a great value to get these things together and it'll keep you prepared when you're going out on your adventures.
Again, this is Ed with etrailer.com, and this has been a look at the Etrailer Ball Mount Kit. Have a great day.

WOW! This is much heavier that my last hitch. The steel is like twice as thick and much heavier than I expected. I'm not afraid to load this thing to max capacity.
I was questioning going with the lower cost etrailer brand of this. I only need this drop on occasion. But trust me, I was shocked at the quality and how well this is made! Excellent item
The 2” receiver ball hitch is a 5 star product. Very professional quality and build.
Found that the ball is the wrong size should be 2.5/16" not 2". Guess I'll have order that one, hopefully the color.
Looks nice but the weight is not stamped in the reciever it is on a sticker. It is stamped in the ball.
Fast shipping, and great product quality
Worked great. Used it with our 2019 Honda CRV to tow a U-Haul trailer 650 miles. No issues. Also, initially I thought it was too much rise, but I'm glad I got it because I had underestimated how much lower the car was to the trailer especially when loaded. There was a little clunking but to be expected when towing.
Just what I needed. Measured from the floor to the center of the ball, 18 1/2 inches for towing a u-haul trailer. This is what they say for hauling their trailers flat.
Etrailer recommended this for our 2025 Honda CRV. The product is fine, but the recommendation was wrong. Every trailer we've hooked to this 4" drop is too low.
Nice quality. Solid ball mount upgrading to 10,000 lbs.
Perfect fit for the whole set up ! And was so convenient to not have to hunt down a perfect ball hitch. etrailer is the ultimate trailer accessory one stop shop which delivers to your front door within 2 days(USA)
I had to replace the 2” ball with a 1 7/8” ball to fit my small utility trailer. Otherwise it is working perfectly. Happy with this purchase.
Correct fit. Works with my etrailer locking hitch pin thingy.
I have about a half-dozen ball mounts of various brands and this one is the nicest.
After one season of salt-water use, the usual progression of rust and flaking paint seems slower than expected. It has a matte finish that I find pleasing. The pin, ball, threads, and nut all seem of slightly higher quality than is typical.
Based on this product, I would choose etrailer mounts over others in the future.
They have great customer service as well, in my experience.
We have a 25 4Runner and a 10’cargo trailer to haul woodworking projects from fair to fair. A previous ball hitch with 4” drop still hauled the trailer in a upward position and I didn’t want the rear end to drag going in and out of transitional areas. The 6” drop ball hitch works perfect and still allows the trailer to ride level and the rear hatch to open without hitting trailer . Thanks eTrailer for offering a variety of ball hitches for a accurate ride during travel!!!
Very solid construction with specs that exceed what I need to pull my boat. Pre-torqued ball. Good looking black nickel-plated ball looks good with my blacked out Jeep Grand Cherokee!
Spencer was a big help. I had looked a ton of brake
Controllers he advised me on what I needed
For my 2026 ram 1500. The product was delivered
Quickly and fairly easy to install.
Great edition to the 2” hitch but I really didn’t need it. I found an older one in a storage box that included locking hitch pin & plug for the receiver. Decided it would have been to too costly to return.
Definitely need at least a 4 inch drop. This one is supposed to be a 2 inch drop but looks level with no drop
All parts arrived perfectly and were securely packaged. I opted to install the trailer package myself and completed it with no problems at all. I would definitely order from etrailer again for sure.
Exactly what I needed and performed flawlessly, will be a returning customer for all of my towing needs!
