Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the Curt 1 7/8 Inch Ball. Now this is with a One Inch Diameter Shank. Now this steel ball is gonna be a sturdy, great option for a trailer with a 1 7/8 inch coupler. Now it also has the one inch diameter. So when shopping for your ball mount, make sure that you are getting one with a one inch opening so it matches the diameter of the shank.
The shank length on this is 2 1/8 inch. So you also wanna make sure that it's going to have threads sticking out when you tighten up your ball to your ball mount. Speaking of tightening up the ball mount, it's gonna be important when you install this, which is pretty easy, to torque this to the proper specs. Now you can see this does include the nut and the lock washer here. You're simply going to put a wrench on this nice flat slotted part, and then tighten this down with a torque wrench to the proper specifications that the manufacturer recommends.
Now, it's very important to torque this down with the torque wrench. That way it's not too tight or too loose when towing. So if you don't have a torque wrench, we'll sell those here at etrailer, or you can rent one at an auto parts store, generally. But it's very important that you have this torqued properly And that way you know, that this isn't going to wobble loose when you're towing something. Now the steel construction has a nice chrome finish on it.
So it looks really good. Now, sometimes when you hook up to your trailer, it's good to put a little bit of grease here, and that's going to maintain that chrome appearance for a long time. Now, as far as the weight rating goes, this is good for 3,500 pounds, which is a decent amount of weight. So before hooking up to your trailer and towing, you're also gonna wanna make sure that the rest of components are up to snuff with that weight rating. And that includes your ball mount, your hitch, and also your vehicle.
Now you wanna take the lowest number out of all of those and stick with that when towing and that way you're not overdoing it. And that was a look at the Curt 1 7/8 Inch Ball with the One Inch Diameter Shank. Thanks for watching..

Smooth, no defects, wrench knotches on base of ball, awesome feature. Many don't have that. Very solid. Fits snug in a one inch hitch hole.
Not too often you need a 1-7/8 ball in the fatter 1" diameter shank, but I did and it works as expected!

I've always been happy with Curt products, this new ball seems to be no exception. It's exactly what I needed to complete my transformation from a class II hitch to a class III.
The product was perfect. My compliment is for etrailer. Awesome people. Advice to users: watch the videos first. Also, I had to get a different drawbar because [rental trailer] needs the ball to be 18" off the ground and I only had 9". I installed this by myself on my sedan in about an hour; car was on the street, not elevated, and in the rain. Glad THAT is over.
The products are well made and I look forward to using them. I only wish etrailer fulfillment would have asked a question of "is this ball for this receiver". Because being new to all of this, I ordered the wrong size ball for the receiver and it would have been GREAT to have a second set of eyes to see this. I know it's my issue.

I called the customer service line to ask questions about fitment and confirm I will receive the right products (ball mount, ball, and lock). They were EXCELLENT and if they weren't sure, they did the right research to confirm. Definitely worth buying from them.

This fits our needs perfectly. My husband said it was easy to install. He is very happy.
The Hitch is great. Unfortunately the locking device I purchased with the hitch will not work on the inside due to restrictions of barriers within the area that the pin is inserted. This should be noted for sales people when being ordered with a Tesla Y. I will use the locking device on the side of the hitch and a small lock through the pin in the inside area of the hitch.
Hitch is great, easy install. Rusts a bit but that comes with the territory. I bought this because it was so helpful to have all solutions needed from the same company. I purchased with an after market hitch assembly for Ford Explorer.
Trailer ball and wiring harness fit perfect...
Two out of the 5 holes in the trailer hitch did not line up. One was about an 1/8" off and the other was over a 1/4" off. I went to my local Fastenal store and bought a carbide burr $28 and about an hour of elongating the holes, finely got the them to fit
Bought the Nissan Murano brand new about 8 months ago.
Not happy about the extra work it took to make it fit...

Amazing customer service as usual!I love your products, they are heavily road tested and working excellently! I got a friend to buy a trailer hitch too, since it was so easy!
Made in China. Chrome plating wore off after 3rd trip to dump. Now looking for US made ball.

Everything fit perfectly and it works as expected.
I haven't had to chance to try it yet but it's mounted on the hitch and ready to go. It's well made and fit the hitch like a glove.
