Today we're going to take a look at the Brophy hitch ball, part number CB-20Z. This hitch ball has a 2" diameter ball. It has a 5/8" diameter shank. The shank is 1-5/8" long. It's machined from solid steel bars and is coated with a zinc finish, and is made right here in the U.S. It comes with the washer and nut, and I'm going to show you how you would put this on your ball mount using our trailer hitch demonstrator and one of our ball mounts.

You would just pop the shank into the ball hole there, put the washer right here, and then just finger tighten that. And then you'd want to get a wrench and tighten that further to ensure that there's no rattle and that the hitch ball stays on firmly. That should just about do it for our Brophy hitch ball, part number CB-20Z.

CB-20Z Hitch Ball 2" x 5/8" x 1 5/8"...It was very hard to find a short shank 2" hitch ball with 5/8" threaded end. Lawn mower only had 5/8" hole with no material to enlarge for larger size without severely weakening hitch plate. Thanks etrailer.com for having this CB-20Z Hitch Ball in stock.

Did you know most stores dont sell a 2" ball with a 5/8" shank? Well, Etrailer does. I just needed to move my little 5'×8' flat bed trailer around with my mower. Was glad to locate this hard to find hitch ball to fit my Husqvarna mower. Everybody has them with 3/4 shanks, but I needed a 2 inch ball but with a 5/8" threaded shank in order not to have to ream out the mount hole on the mower which would make it even weaker than it is. I need it to tow my utility trailer across the yard to where I park it, so as not to drive my truck on the yard. The ball is described as zinc plated but it is about as shiny as chrome.

It was hard to find a 5/8 diameter, and with a short shank on top of that. They shipped it out within hours, but it took 6 days to get here by USPS …which I am not a fan of. I will check here first in the future.

Hard to find a 2" ball on a 5/8" shaft. etrailer has it all. Placed it on a riding mower to pull a 5X8 utility trailer for hauling brush. It is installed but I have not used the trailer yet. Good webpage and fast service.

I was happy to have found this little gem online, as no store around here has anything like this. The 5/8" shank fits my 4wheeler, so I can use a small trailer that has a 2" connector for work in my yard.

I purchased this for use on a new lawn tractor that was made with a 5/8" hitch hole for towing. This hitch ball fit the hole, was easy to install, and is well constructed. I am now able to tow my utility trailer in the yard by it's 2" hitch . etrailer is the only place that I could find this, and their service was great!

I like the product. I could not find the 2" ball in the store. Fleet Farm had the 1 7/8" ball, so I have that one too. One thing I think I would like is a quick release pin. I bought this for my lawn tractor to pull my trailer around. But then when I want to use my other items I have to take the bolt nut off, so a faster solution would be some sort of quick disconnect, since I only need this ball once in a while.

The product was exactly what I was looking for, a 2" tow ball with an 5/8" diameter shank. Something you will not typically find in a store.
When I am in Mariposa CA, where my mother lives, and attach the ball to the tractor, I will send two pictures. One picture with the ball attached to a Craftsman tractor and a second with the tractor towing a wood splitter. The purpose of this purchase is to be able to move the wood splitter around on her property to split wood that is too large to be moved first.

Needed a 2" hitch ball with 5/8" shank for my 28 hp garden tractor. Need to tow off road & street legal 4x8 dump trailer with either tractor or truck. Went to local trailer dealer. have a small 4 X 7 trailer. With the F150 that I drove. I cannot see the trailer to back it up my driveway. Once I found out they made a 2 inch ball with this smaller shaft/shank. I ordered it. This ball is a time saver. Not to mention a back saver as well.

I needed a 2" ball with a 5/8" shank to put on the back of my Ariens 46" riding mower. I have a 5x10 utility trailer that I store behind my house out of sight. It's much easier to use my mower to pull the trailer in and out as opposed to tearing up the grass with my truck tires twisting and turning. NO ONE local had a 2" ball with the small 5/8" shank to fit my mower. etrailer had it in stock. I ordered it on July 27th...it was in my mailbox on July 30th !! Prompt service as always. Was having trouble finding a 2in. Tow ball with a 5/8 shank to fir my Polaris Sportsman 4-wheeler. Needed this set-up to pull my log splitter and bike trailer. Plenty of 1-7/8 tow balls with 5/8 shank but no 2in. Thought I was going to have to cut up a 2in. with large shank and weld on but you came through. The shank of the ball is 5/8 inch diameter. If your lawn mower has a place for a ball, measure the hole and see what the diameter of the ball hole is. You will basically be measuring to see if the diameter of the ball hole on the lawn mower is large enough to accept the 5/8 inch diameter bolt on the bottom of the hitch ball. Cub Cadet Model 1517 Lawn Tractor Hitch Ball Mounting Location
The 2" Hitch Ball - 5/8" Diameter x 1-5/8" Long Shank - Steel # CB-20Z or similar can be mounted to your Cub Cadet Lawn Tractor. I can't recommend installing it on your bagger frame because it is not rated for that use, but it may work depending on the weight of your loaded trailer. When using the hitch location on your tractor, you will want to stay within the limits of your Cub Cadet Owners Manual as well.

I would need to know the hole diameter in the bumper of your 1998 Ford Explorer. If it is smaller than the 1 inch shank on ball # 63845, the next size down would be a shank with a 3/4 inch diameter, # TR63822, rated for 3,500 pounds. Down from 3/4 inch we have a 5/8 inch diameter shank, # CB-20Z, which you normally see on lawn mowers and other small equipment so it is highly unlikely it will fit. The most common sizes of trailer hitch ball within the RV world are the 1-7/8-inch size you mentioned, along with 2-inch and 2-5/16-inch types. There are also 50mm and 3-inch hitch balls although these are less common. First, you will want the shank of the ball to be the same as the hole in the ball mount. If you need a 5/8 inch shank on a ball then we have some options. For a 2 inch ball we have # CB-20Z. For a 1-7/8 inch diameter ball we have # C40095.
