Cub Cadet Model 1517 Lawn Tractor Hitch Ball Mounting Location
Updated 11/27/2017 | Published 11/24/2017 >
Question:
My Cub Cadet has a bagger mounting frame attached to the rear of the tractor. This frame has its own ball mounting hole. Can I use this mounting location, or do I need to remove the bagger frame and use the hole that is part of the tractor frame? [I plan on using the ball to move my empty utility trailer single axle 6 x 10 with 4foot plywood sides around the yard.] The bagger frame looks to be 3/16inch thick steel.

Helpful Expert Reply:
The 2" Hitch Ball - 5/8" Diameter x 1-5/8" Long Shank - Steel # CB-20Z or similar can be mounted to your Cub Cadet Lawn Tractor. I can't recommend installing it on your bagger frame because it is not rated for that use, but it may work depending on the weight of your loaded trailer. When using the hitch location on your tractor, you will want to stay within the limits of your Cub Cadet Owners Manual as well.
