Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this MORryde motorized cord storage reel. This storage reel is gonna be a really easy and convenient way to keep all of your RV's power cords rolled up and stored away. So rather than having to lug them around yourself, dealing with a big knotted mess, this is gonna keep that all organized, and it's gonna be very easy for you to reel in. Unlike the manual reels that you have to put a lot of elbow grease into, this is gonna be powered, so it's gonna do all that work for you.
This is going to store up to 30 feet of RV power cords, whether they're 30-amp or 15-amp. Now, those power cords are sold separately, but I do happen to have a 50-amp cable here to demonstrate. This is a 25-foot long cable. So you can see, we can put it right through the center there, and then we can pull it off to the left side. We've got this toggle switch up here on the top, and that's going to allow us to retract or extend out.
So I'm going to start retracting this. I'm just gonna guide the cable as it's winding up. So you can see how easy that is. I'm not gonna do the whole cable here, but you can see how that is just very easily pulling that in. I don't have to work very hard at all to just align where that cable is gonna be.
This rocker switch will also allow us to extend that cable out. Or we also have this T handle here that's going to allow us to very easily undo that so that we can free spool the cable out. And as you saw there, it did come out quite a bit, but once if you had the whole thing rolled up and you we're to release the gears with that side assembly, you wouldn't have to worry about that. It would only pull out at the pace that you want it to. So this is going to be very easy to get installed.
It does come with these screws that you can mount it. You can mount this in just about any orientation. Put it on the floor, upright like we have here, you can mount it from the ceiling in an upside down orientation. You can even mount it horizontally like so, and so really any way that's gonna fit your compartment best. This will work in any of those orientations. You just wanna make sure that wherever you're mounting is gonna be able to withstand the weight of the reel and cord put together. And they do recommend that the mounting surface be able to support at least five times that combined weight. So you wanna make sure that it's gonna be very stable for it to make sure that it can hold up to that weight. In order to know where you're gonna be able to mount this, you will need to know some dimensions. So this is gonna be right about 16 3/4 of an inch long, so just under 17 inches long. Our width here, the widest part, is probably gonna be these blades, so we're looking at right about 13 inches. And then, our height, just over 14. We'll call it 14 1/8 of an inch tall. This will very easily connect to your 12-volt power source. You've got your black and red wires here that you can just hook up a couple of butt connectors, get those connected to your 12-volt power source. This is only gonna draw about 10 amps on your RV system, so it's not gonna take up much, not gonna draw much energy at all. And it is made here in the USA, so you can trust it's made to the high-quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the US. I am gonna hook this back up and connect to that cable one more time, so you can kinda see how long it will take to pull in that full 25 feet. So again, I'm just gonna stick this in, pull it off to the side there, and start reeling it back. So that's going to allow us to get that full 25-foot long, 50-amp cord put in place here. I could extend it back out. Or I can easily pull on that T handle there. As you can see, that's gonna allow it to free spin, so I can pull out whatever length I need. I ran wire to the main battery panel and into the pass-thru hold. Fairly easy to install. Handled my 30’ 50 amp power cord easily. Excited to try in at the campsite. This product will alleviate hauling that heavy cord around. My only suggestion is to provide 6-8 ‘ of wire and a ground wire to install. My neighbor is an electrician and he had some in his garage.
Easy install and works great! Nice to be able to spool up our thick 50 amp power cable with ease and it does fit on the spool even though it's quite long. Takes up way less space and ensures it is out of the way instead of just piled on top of (or under) other things in the storage compartment.
Love this thing! Lil pricey but well worth it! Will save time,trouble, scratched up truck,and headache! I mounted it straight to the floor with the provided 8 screws and it holds up perfectly fine!
I installed the reel and the clutch would drop out after a couple of cable wraps. I called customer service and they shipped out a new reel. I installed the second reel and it works perfectly. You can tell a lot about a company by the quality of their customer service. I am completely satisfied with the reel and MORryde.
Just installed the motorized cord reel in my 5th wheel and it works great. It saves me from having to lift the heavy 50 amp powercord and also gives me extra storage space.
Installed today, installation was fairly easy, mounted in a KZ Durango Gold, G356RQL. mounted to the floor next to the wet bay. Have tested it work with problem, however be aware, you will need pull it out straight as it fought me trying to pull the power cable towards the back of the RV. Another fine product by MORryde.
This has worked out great - our heavy 50A cord now takes up minimum space and I don't have to wrestle with it every time I put it away. We had a problem with the motor, and MORryde customer service was fantastic sending out a part immediately with easy instructions on replacement.
Hooked it up this morning to my power supply and it works great! Was pleasantly surprised to find out that Morryde has updated this unit to allow it to free wheel for removing the cord! Great upgrade! Will be installing it this week on the fifth wheel. Would have liked the instructions to be a bit more explanatory but no big deal.
Installation was a breeze, instructions were on the money. 50A cord is a bit cumbersome when putting the cord on the reel and also when removing it. To be expected I think.

Reel came not working.
Bearing on motor side was out of position, letting the reelflop out of place.
Contacted MorRyde and they did not have a fix so they sent me a new one.
The new reel works good.
Works great and is good quality material. Added it to our toyhauler and still works for our 45 ft. cord.
I did have a gear box go out but moreride fixed it right away it works great now!
Came undamaged and takes up 1/2 the space of the hand rolled 50 amp cord. On negative it would be nice if it would free wheel when unrolling but that is a small negative for the convenience. Rolls and holds 30 foot 50 amp detachable cable with no problem
Great product !
Made a little flimsey. purchased for a 50A cord on a Fleetwood Bounder. Also, the free wheel knob does not always engage when you return it to the motor drive.
Both items are great. easy to use and install!!!
No fault of etrailer but the shipping was very slow.
I have never been disapointed with any product or service from etrailer. This new power reel will be a welcome addition to our new fifth wheel.

My product failed within the first 6 months, but MORryde has great customer service and was able to ship out a new one quickly.
Just used the reel for the first time and works great. Nice add on to the RV.

The reel has been a great add to our trailer. Trying to coil and store the 50 amp power cord especially when it’s cold was and is a pain. The reel has given us more space so we can add more stuff . Saves my back and makes setting up and packing up easier.

After about a year of use I must say this reel is one of the best purchases I have made for my 5th wheel. Not having to find a place to store my heavy 50 Amp cable has been great and the cord reel has worked flawlessly.
