Hey everybody, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're taking a quick look at the Bolt-In Brackets for your MORryde Trail Kitchen. This is gonna be for the Jeep Trail Kitchens that's partnered with MR83MR here at etrailer.com. And if you don't wanna make any modifications to your Jeep, this is a great way to go. These are gonna allow you to use factory holes in the back of your Jeep JL Unlimited, to mount them in place. So you don't have to drill anything, you don't have to make any modifications to your Jeep, it's just gonna be all encompassed in this kit. Comes with the hardware to get them installed.
And it's just again, a bolt in application. So really nice if you don't wanna make any modifications, or change up anything with your Jeep. Now, can you use the Trail Kitchen without these You can, but you gotta drill holes, so. As far as what you get here, they're pretty robust, beefy brackets, the actual Kitchen itself will sit over the top of the sticker part. So you will have kind of this empty space here.
These are just to help utilize the holes that are in the Jeep to kind of spread that weight and the torquing force out across the frame, to make sure that you don't have any issues with pulling up. So it's, it is gonna be, this is gonna be uncovered. So I'll give you some measurements on how much space this part takes up, and then how much the brackets are themselves. They are made in the USA, the instructions come with it. There are pictures in the instructions.
They're not great if I'm honest. But we should have a video here at etrailer.com and in soon, so that you can see how that all goes together. And we'll show you exactly what it looks like. So let's take a closer look at some measurements here. Overall, our brackets are about 35 and a half inches long.
And it looks like that's true for both. They're a little bit different between the two. I go to this flap here. It's about five and three quarter inches, and then about four and a half. The height is about an inch, maybe an inch and a quarter. That's true for both. So that's the total length there. We just look at the part that's gonna be uncovered. So the part that you're gonna have to deal with and the rest of the of your trunk space there. It's about 17 inches, maybe 17 and a quarter for this one. And then about 17 and a half for this guy. About an inch and a half and an inch and a half and again, an inch tall. Now, this is a custom fit. It's gonna work for the 2018 through the current year model of your Jeep Wrangler, so that's the Jeep Wrangler JL, and that's the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, you need that back space to be able to use this. That's pretty much all there is to it for our quick look at these brackets. I hope that this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right part for you. Simply remove the D-rings in your cargo area, bolt on the brackets, and attach the kitchen.It works fine. But, Morryde has quality control problems. Of the various components I ordered for the trail kitchen, every single one sans the molle panel had an issue. On this one,the part that goes closest to the tailgate did not have the right size holes. I had to drill them out to make it fit. Also, there was an alignment problem with the bolt that goes into the passenger side. I had to go to the hardware store to get a button head bolt that did not require the tolerance needed. Otherwise no matter what I did the threads would cross.
Very robust and well designed bolt-in kit for my MORryde Trail Kitchen. The instructions were good and included photos of each step. I had to trim the white spacers by 1/4” to allow them to fit with my factory cargo area carpet still installed.
Very well thought out design. Works great with the separately sold base plate. I used this with the my Dometic CFX 35 and it works great. The installation video was much needed, as the manufacturer provided guide is all wrong. The straps that come with the kitchen will work for any portable cooler that has handles.
My only question will be if this holds up to the many, many miles of rocky overlanding we do every weekend. I leaped for this alternative to Goose Gear’s custom kitchen that cost 3x and would get delivered after Labor Day. This one arrived 3 days after ordering. I’ve purchased many items from etrailer and they exceed all expectations in every encounter I have with their team.
I like the design and find it useful. Once again, there were quality issues with this unit. The first one I received had the slides that accept the extended table missing. Was not even mounted in there. Morryde sent me a replacement and I was eventually able to get everything installed an working
Fast forward several months and many miles on rocky roads and plain old pavement. I have had one rivet fall out. Was able to replace it with a bolt. I just now found that the driver side slide no longer locks when sliding all of the way out. Frustrating. I will see if I can fix it myself, but the pop-rivet assembly method does not make things simple. May see if Morryde will fix it under warranty.
